  • A walkabout starting at Little Park Street which takes in New Union Street, Greyfriars Lane, a bit of High Street, Broadgate, some of the Upper Precinct, Barracks Car Park, some of Market Way, Shelton Square and last but not least City Arcade. (Barracks Car Park, that part of Market Way, Shelton Square and the City Arcade are all due to be demolished to make way for the City Centre South redevelopment.) I think archaeology surveys were being carried out at the car park and Shelton Square.

I can't believe what I am seeing. Am a Coventry kid, eat batches, watched the Sky Blues and the Brandon Bees. What a sorry sight. Maybe contact the Luftwaffe and haven other Blitz so we can put it back to how it was, buses in Broad gate and meeting folk under the Elephant.

Every change they make to Coventry leaves it worse than it was before. I can't think of anything they have done that has really improved it. I was born in Coventry and lived there for 30 years. I emigrated to the USA in 1979. I've been back a few times since but not for at least 15 years.

Unlucky being born in Coventry, but good you managed to escape. I lived in Coventry briefly and will never go back there, it's one of the worst places I ever lived in. I wish I was able to emigrate out of this forsaken country. Coventry is the epitome of it.

Can't believe. I grew up in Cov and we used to go to The Squirrel on a Friday night. Never seen that beautiful medieval courtyard before though.

Nope, my mum used to work in the Wimpy round café though. Uses to hang out in Woolies café with mates.

It was in the High Street. Cafe downstairs and a bookshop above it. Called "The Wedge" but nicknamed "Red Wedge" as it sold what were considered by some to be left wing papers / magazines and books. Cafe was vegan or vegetarian - opened in 1978 and closed in the 1997 or 1998 I think.

@Mrgingerdread1 I probably had no interest in it or it was so unremarkable that I didn't notice.
