Yah that's the issue I have with late game elden ring that just really ruins any fun runs I have going. The first two thirds of the game is all about trying new stuff and beating bosses in interesting ways with all the freedom you get. Then the last third is just "ok game has to be hard now otherwise it won't be a souls game." I get they were trying to make the game more appealing to people who haven't played souls but the difficulty should have come much earlier. That and your late game gear very rarely scales with the threat you are facing. In ds3 when you get chaos bed vestiges, it blows a whole clean through even the final boss, who's resistant to fire. The big fireball spell in ER is just a sneeze that gets slapped away. I'm not asking that all the late game stuff be objectively the best, but it needs to at least do more than the basic versions when it hits.
@@un7n0wing85 I mean faith builds get useless once you get to Farum which is why I never even tried it cause I know I will have to change it when I get to the late game yeah everything past Morgott is kinda more tedious than fun (except Godfrey)
@@Gary_a_normal_human_being str/faith builds are really good generalists for most of the game. ER is probably the best From game to do a str/faith build.
Honestly I'm amazed this spell and so many others in the game have not been buffed yet. There's a lot of interesting Playstyles that have yet to become popular or viable because of how bad some of these other spells are.
If anything, I'm worried about them nerfing the spells that are actually good into the dirt like they did to DS2. They already smacked Stars of Ruin when it was really only a problem in ganks (which is a problem From seems entirely disinterested in fixing lmao)
From is hilariously tone deaf with nerfs and buffs, keep in mind the poise damage in PVP is what they nerfed about ROB, not the bleed or the power, the amount of stagger it did was the problem! buffs to make things actually usable never happen they just tweak numbers, and things that get nerfed are usually because invaders whined about it long enough, which is a horrible reason to nerf something when 90% of the game is PVE.
@@LilyApus Yep not to mention all can be dodged if you are good enough, but that's the problem alot people in soul games that includes myself are shit at the game and alot would complain about stupid crap to get it nerfed. @@Markus-jr6yv I actually really like magic in Dark souls and tried it in Elden ring, but every single time I do it I just remember how hilariously easy it is to dodge spells in these games and I quickly shift to something else, it doesn't really matter if something does 1k damage if I can just walk slowly to the left and "dodge" it now does it? melee weapons are much harder to roll out of if someone is good and knows how to roll catch but with spells you just can't do that because of casting times and projectile traveling not to mention 95% of all invaders I fight just spam running attacks with bleed weapons, but no magic is too strong apparently.

4:47 that's not a downside of the open world IMO. You can get all the basics and start your build without killing any bosses (at least not main ones) within the first 1-2 hours. Or you could choose not to and just go with the flow (for casual runs at least). That's an upside really.
When I saw this spell I thought I'd get to like...summon skeletons. You know, like an ash of war that isn't restricted to bosses and setpiece fights. I have never been more disappointed.
If you have Raw Meat Dumpling equipped, your Mimic Tear will also have it and be able to use it. It's very effective since the spirit summons are immune to status effects.
The blessed dew talisman and that holy greatshield could've been excellent additions to this run as they heal you over time, which tends to be very useful in long fights like these
I feel like this is one of those spells where they had a really interesting concept but then realised they couldn’t really implement it in that way. Similar to the lil sentry fireball in ds3 that ended up being really awful despite the version that the enemy uses being so good.
I was so sad the summons are so bad. Necromancer is usually my favourite type of spellcaster, but in Elden Ring it gets boring really quickly. You can only really spam Ancient Death Rancor, because all other death-related abilities are terrible.
Spells really need more balancing. I don't even mean that they're OP or anything, I just mean that spells need to be more balanced compared to *other spells*
55:15 Oh, that hurts. You actually did have enough to use Rosus's Summons. You see, weapon skills can be used as long as you have at least half the FP for them, so you only needed 8 FP to use it. So it sucks even more than if you couldn't, because you actually could and didn't know it.
I'm sure most people noticed this, but the spell shoots a tiny, fast, invisible dagger that wherever that dagger is destroyed at the skeletons appear. The dagger is destroyed when it hits an object, enemy, or at a certain range (like most other projectile spells). Thats why it gets caught on terrain and summons them in the air.
I sometimes wonder why it feels like From sometimes just makes stuff like tibia summons that just don't seem to work. I get there are a LOT of spells in this game, but it definately feels like some schools just get WAY more favor.
I find it funny that Tibia Summons was what convinced me to buy the game, because I didn't know spirit ashes existed and barely skimmed the fextra page.
The funny part is when Necromancer Garris uses this spell on you, it DECIMATES you AND the hitbox is GIGANTIC. I've been in a case where a) I was outside of the attack range of the skeletons b) Even if it DID hit me, it should've just been one skeleton's damage c) I ended up getting hit by ALL the attacks, despite being NO WHERE near the other two.
Speaking of "fingers to the bone", I'm surprised that you didn't use that fist weapon from the Royal Remains set. It's literally part of a skeleton, so I'd have thought you'd keep it as a fall back option

@@PressContinue oh man you definitely haven't watched enough videos lol. I'd say a little more than half the time people say "atlas" and it borderline gives me an aneurysm XD

If this makes rolling and dodging easier, there's 13 frames when you start a roll where there are no I-frames, this is ~1/6 of a second, or 170 milliseconds.
Big congrats on finishing this run and ALL THE PUNS to go with it! From other videos, I have wondered, which was harder, writing all the puns, or completing the run... But for this one? I don't have to ask. (sad emoji) I like the little text edits over the footage when something noteworthy happens! I wouldn't have noticed the Mimic Tear doing staff bonks unless it had been pointed out too, so I appreciate the notes! PS - I don't know about everyone else, but personally, I wouldn't mind if some Dutch words appeared in these videos, it would really underscore how utterly "boned" you were feeling. And subtitles for translation, if you felt like it.
That's part of DS1's level design. There are multiple roads you can take from firelink shrine but the road to undead burg is the path of least resistance and the "intended" road for a first playthrough. The other directions are full of enemies that are hard to deal with for a first time player at starting level with starting gear. Skeletons that bleed you out, catacombs full of necromancers that resurrect them. New londo is filled with ghosts you cant even hit without a special item and they can ambush you through walls. The remaining direction is locked unless you have the master key. All of that pushes you towards undead burg which is a low level area with weak enemies. They also did add rewards though for those who persevere through the much higher resistance in the other directions

Great video as always Press Continue! I must say that out of all the From Soft runners you truly become my favourite, from your obscure references to your taste in good music. But most importantly I feel you always try to finish the challenge as it is. Sometimes runners when something is not particularly possible or there exist some sort of easier shortcut they take it. But you always suffer to the max haha! Keep up the good work! Also I had an idea for ER run. You could only use Great Serpent Hunt Ash of War. That's the one which is on Serpent Hunter and stuns Rykard and Snek, so I wonder how that would work on normal enemies and other bosses hehe.
I don't remember if that was you, but someone even offered me money for that run. Which makes no sense because I tested it out and it hardly even qualifies as a challenge run. I killed the red wolf in only 2 hits. The serpent hunter is extremely powerful and the weapon art even has hyperarmor. Literally the only downside is that it's slow, so there would be an issue with that against Radagon or Godfrey for example, but nothing on the level like in this run or the aeonia only run. So, no that run simply wouldn't make any sense.
@@PressContinue Oh haha that wasn't me! But cool I see and I totally get that! As I didn't tried it I thought that it wouldn't work aswel against nonRykard bosses!
How about a "going Dutch" (each person participating in a paid activity covers their own expenses) run? Meaning, you are only allowed to damage the enemy if you get damage as well.
You can totally beat elden ring with death magic... but that particular spell is only good for sniping at range. I prefer to roll twice and then cast the massive explosion over and over, works surprisingly well.
The Royal Remains set has got to have the most useless passive effect in the game. It heals you, but only to a maximum of 18% of your max hp. Unless you go back to an early game area massively overleveled, there are almost no attacks in the game that are going to deal less damage than that, so you essentially stay in one-hit range.

During the Godskin duo fight I did have those equipped. Although I never actually noticed the mimic using them to be honest
These streams were so much fun to watch
The blessed dew talisman and that holy greatshield could've been excellent additions to this run as they heal you over time, which tends to be very useful in long fights like these
Perhaps, but the blessed dew only heals 2 hp per tick, so that's not a lot. And the greatshield would have been too heavy
They’re great for almost every player but runs like these are probably so strict they don’t want to use them.
I feel like this is one of those spells where they had a really interesting concept but then realised they couldn’t really implement it in that way. Similar to the lil sentry fireball in ds3 that ended up being really awful despite the version that the enemy uses being so good.
Bruh, that Skeleton Warriors intro hit me with so much nostalgia I almost turned into a skeleton myself.
Huge Kudos for the Elden Ring Metal Band at 3:40
LMFAO
Song name?
I only have limited patience with people making fromsoft videos, and only respect a handful of content makers... now youre one of them. Fukken subbed
the official *SPOOKY* run, cry your heart out limit breakers
Holy just got buffed, maybe a 100% holy damage run?
I was so sad the summons are so bad. Necromancer is usually my favourite type of spellcaster, but in Elden Ring it gets boring really quickly. You can only really spam Ancient Death Rancor, because all other death-related abilities are terrible.
Well technically death-lightning is really powerful
The intro with Iron Maiden's Dance of Death was perfect!
Spells really need more balancing. I don't even mean that they're OP or anything, I just mean that spells need to be more balanced compared to *other spells*
Shirou would be so confused....
"people don't die when they are killed?!? "
The way the Skellies run makes me giggle every time
The dance of the dead intro killed me. I haven't laughed that hard in awhile.
oblivion moment
When I started a death spell playthrough, the disappointment I felt from how bad Tibia Summons is is indescribable
55:15 Oh, that hurts. You actually did have enough to use Rosus's Summons.
You see, weapon skills can be used as long as you have at least half the FP for them, so you only needed 8 FP to use it. So it sucks even more than if you couldn't, because you actually could and didn't know it.
... well that sucks
@@PressContinue Hey, let's look on the bright side, maybe that info's gonna be useful to you in the future
Tibia Summons just got buffed lol
1:04:28 Those words summarize the entire run
Really loved this idea! Keep up the amazing content!
53:09 "Under your skin"? What skin? You're a skeleton! Immersion ruined.
Sowwy :(
It is absolutely ridiculous how consistently people get a boss to very low health and then die. Happens to me too. It's insane.
That sped-up Dance of Death intro was wonderful :)
It’s like they put spells like this in the game specifically for runs like this. When else would you ever use this slow slow spell?
55:07 And this is why you should usually collect all available Starlight Shards during these types of runs.
been watching your videos for like 4 months just never thought about subbing until now. you make great videos man keep going king❤️💯
Love the Dance of death in that little montage, total banger took me by surprise 😄😁
about min 23 so this is how "let me solo her" ended, well i guess this is how seluvius knew what was needed to enslave a god.
Ah, Elden Ring as The Overlord, wonderful
i watched all the vods, but your editing just makes me need to watch the breakdown as well :)
I really appreciate every little DBZ Abridged reference. That show was sooo good
I sometimes wonder why it feels like From sometimes just makes stuff like tibia summons that just don't seem to work.
I've been in a case where
a) I was outside of the attack range of the skeletons
b) Even if it DID hit me, it should've just been one skeleton's damage
c) I ended up getting hit by ALL the attacks, despite being NO WHERE near the other two.
Seems to be a trend that bad attacks are good but only if they are used against you
It got the Elden Stars treatment too, huh?
I love your videos! Always appreciated in terms of the content and humour. Keep up the brilliant work…oh and the music intros are first class 😂❤
Would you by chance know the artist of the intro music? I'd like to hear the original as it sounded cool. Cheers
I approve of this run.
Ah, you don't say?
Radagon parrying the skeletons is kinda badass
Speaking of "fingers to the bone", I'm surprised that you didn't use that fist weapon from the Royal Remains set. It's literally part of a skeleton, so I'd have thought you'd keep it as a fall back option
yes, PART of a skeleton. That's why it wasn't allowed. Only full complete skeletons
Oh man, nothing warms my heart more, than someone pronouncing Altus plateau correctly. I was almost convinced that everyone says "atlas". Thank you for making my day! Or at least in terms of elden ring
I actually wasn't even aware that people commonly called it the atlas plateau
@@PressContinue oh man you definitely haven't watched enough videos lol. I'd say a little more than half the time people say "atlas" and it borderline gives me an aneurysm XD
That PNG intro with the characters is ghe funniest shit I've seen in a long time.
I remember watching early gameplay, where the player character uses Tibia summons on the stairs outside of Stormveil walls and thinking it was a cool attack. But when something is a int/faith spell or item, probably basically noone will ever use it
If this makes rolling and dodging easier, there's 13 frames when you start a roll where there are no I-frames, this is ~1/6 of a second, or 170 milliseconds.
Rarely have time to watch long streams, Ive been waiting for this
Considering the recent buff they recieved, would you one day consider a video like this but with the briar sorceries?
Honestly the skeleton bros. Were my favorite summons
This run is too spoopy.
48:35 Oh nah, Foreskin Noble doing Stance cancels now
Your pun job was top notch 👌
Time to edit this with the "Bad to The Bone" opening riff
Big congrats on finishing this run and ALL THE PUNS to go with it! From other videos, I have wondered, which was harder, writing all the puns, or completing the run... But for this one? I don't have to ask. (sad emoji)
I like the little text edits over the footage when something noteworthy happens!
And subtitles for translation, if you felt like it.
how to finish the game having the least amount of fun possible
Would’ve thought the Dutch were so funny I only thought they grew flowers and built windmills
WAIT WHAT DOES HE MEAN THE SKELETONS IN THE GRAVEJARD ARE THERE TO STIR YOU IN THE OPOSITE DIRECTION
@@PressContinue no wonder its so hard to go trugh this hellhole i play the game for the first time heard how hard it was and thouhgt this is suposed to be so ... HARD. feel kinda dumb.
Bro half of the difficulty of this run came from the refusal to level Mind and Vigor
I remember the days you had a limited number of continues.... then you needed to start over... off topic but the channel name reminded me of those days.
That indeed is what my name refers to. Of course in a broader context it simply means "keep going" which is the general mindset a challenge runner needs to have
Your skeletons did more damage than I did generally...
Ah, such is the fate of the faith build.
22:43 The irony of being in such a bad state for this run, you wish you were back in the Pike Charge Only run.
As a fellow Dutchie, I really love all the references to our beautiful culture. Thank you Press
Absolutely love you used Dance of Death by IM in your intro
How about a "going Dutch" (each person participating in a paid activity covers their own expenses) run? Meaning, you are only allowed to damage the enemy if you get damage as well.
Homie trying out the Ainz Ooal Gown build
You can totally beat elden ring with death magic... but that particular spell is only good for sniping at range. I prefer to roll twice and then cast the massive explosion over and over, works surprisingly well.
You have top tier writing. I audibly laughed at so many of your stupid puns. Thank you.
I don't normally comment but I watched the live streams for this run and I need to see the thrilling conclusions
When you said the bony skeletony spell is worst that flower aeonia I knew I was in for a ride
Surprised you didn't wait until October for this lol
Well it's early Halloween. Also Halloween is an American thing to begin with.
