That is how I am doing a personal challenge run I am using the pulley bow and only using the rainbow stone arrows it made be hard but I am making bosses look fantastic before they die
Imagine you are a Radahn soldier, fighting for years to contain the rot in Caelid, then someone just constantly used Scarlet Aeonia all across the Lands Between
In my opinion, the Scarlet Aeonia should have insane poise/posture damage. To my knowledge, the explosion from it has one of the longest windups so it should make sense that it should deal more damage, better rot build-up, and heavy posture damage
That and the huge posture damage could potentially stun the enemy so they sit in the damage and can't just keep smacking you while you are in the recovery animation.
They should absolutley do this, sure It makes sense that they can knock you out of It mid Air but anywhere after that is just ridículous especially after the explosion, its extremley slow and easy to Dodge make It apply to the rules those atributes usually mean on weapons/encantations. Imagine something like comet azur only doing a 100 damage max
If Scarlet Aeonia went higher up into the air and gave you a ton of control over where you land, just like Malenia's version, it would be powerful. But no matter how creative and flashy they get with the spells, none of these games have ever given you that much control over them for some reason. It's a shame.

@@UsamaKhan-xx4nw its not that it was garbage, but that we didnt have the folask for infinite cast. that makes a world of diference. tie that with how the arenas are far bigger than the ones in ds3, and its easier to see why its far more usable in ER compared to DS3.
@@rhysofsneezingdragon1758 Yea, all those points are true except for the higher buildup. Rot breath can indeed inflict higher buildup provided you have the full 104 fp for a full cast. Aeonia has better buildup per fp but it’s so slow and risky that breath and almost all other options for rotting enemies are better. It really needs a buff 😔
If this incantation destroyed enemy projectiles like the moon sorceries it might at least be usable, but if a non dragon incantation attack was useful this wouldn't be elden ring.
there are plenty of great incantations, that deal good dmg. But not of them is direct dmg. I fell in love with flame grant me strength, golden vow, purifying flame (or howeven the one that removes scarlet rot is called) and the bloodfly swarm is also nice. in my exp the dragon incantations felt absolutely terrible. They hit like a truck, if they land, but the dmg to fb ratio is terrible and being stuck into animations sux too.
You're not putting enough value in many of the game's incantations. You can get great damage from many of the flame, black flame, and lightning incantations, and a lot have more subversive uses than you'd think. Also, pest threads might be the best offensive incantation for general use, doing solid physical damage, having great homing capabilities, being able to hit multiple times on large enemies due to piercing, and being quick and cheap to cast. You only need about 10 casts of it to defeat the Elden Beast with a fully upgraded seal and good enough stats.
Black Flame incantations are pretty good, especially against really strong bosses. The buffs you can get are great as well (Flame, Cleanse Me is great vs Lake of Rot). I do wish it was closer to Malenia's, though, higher damage, more rot, bigger aoe, and more mobility.
@@watchfulwanderer6443 All it really needs, I think, is more hyper armor and a drastic damage resistance (maybe even some i-frames) briefly after startup to until the blooming. No more getting knocked out of it unless you're smacked during the first half-second or so of the jump up, and it would only really be punishable after the explosion has missed.
Ah yes, Scarlet Aeonia; looked so cool when I first tried it out. ...All it took was using it once in pvp and getting wrecked after the other player just walked it off to realize that looks was all that flower had going for it, lmao. the thing that confuses me most with this incantation is how the Thundercloud form Weapon Art acts almost exactly the same but doesn't lock you into an animation afterwards, costs less FP, and tmk gives you I frames on the dive
From software has never been good at balancing their games. Whether armored core (it took them until armored core for answer to nerf one of the most op weapons), sekiro (one mind and spiral cloud passage used to cost ridiculous amounts of emblems for what you got out of them) or elden ring (glintstone pebble being much better than any other sorceries, plenty of questionably usable spells...)
This spell is SOOOOO much better after the recent patch. Being able to roll out of the bloom is a godsend, in my opinion theme biggest problem with this spell was it made you a sitting duck for like 5 seconds straight, now it no longer feels like that.
Fun fact: the pupa/chrysalis of a butterfly is actually grown under its skin. When it’s time for metamorphosis it climbs up gets stuck and starts wriggling out of its own skin and the shell hardens. Then it’s stomach acids starts devolving it on the inside, melting it toxic sludge (“primordial goo” if you want) just a few cells survive and uses the larva slurpy as material to build the next stage with the pupa as a frame as it has designated place for where the wings go. Finally it breaks free from the protective carcass of its former self as a practically totally different being (ship of Theseus semantic) and flys straight to *BONETOWN!* drinking nectar and dies a week later
In the beginning of the video you said you thought it wouldn't be too hard of a run, and all I could think was "oh you poor sweet summer child." I did dragon incantations only and hand ballista only, and those felt like they took an eternity, I'm pretty sure aeonia is longer, so I definitely feel your pain, but amazing video! Recording problems or not you killed it this run!!!
Press.... I don't think this was meant for bosses! It's a good complement to certain spells in normal PvE but anything with half decent poise will easily resist it! But I suspect you know that already... Now time for your channel to bloom as much as this character.
52:50 the reason why you can't trigger some multiphase bosses (like the duo or malenia) transition with a DoT or a critical is because it's a hard fix from the developers to avoid the multiphase instakill glitch. Thinking of that, they have this issue since mergo's wetnurse in BB (where she takes double poison damage)

I wonder which one you would use this time, bad weapons are not hard to find, but fire giant and godskin duo exist, so that kinda limits your options if you don’t want to have hour long fights.
so long as parrying is allowed the Duo wouldn't be all that bad tbh, Godskin Nobles are probably the easiest boss in ER to parry, and one of the easier bosses since Gwyn to parry and the riposte I-frames would keep safe from the apostle usually
@@leftyer9102 But a lot less when you need to be perfect to not get oneshot. Also he would have to establish what is allowed, like for example, are the shield aromatics ok? Because with those i don't see them being much of a problem (assuming they can prevent the oneshot) but without, it gets inconsistent. If everything is allowed there's probably at least a work around most problems though
This was a hella difficult challenge. You have all my admiration that you had patience and interest in completing the run and you defo deserve a relaxing weekend without any fromsoft game and flower in proximity.
Love the intro songs, would be fun if someone did an "instruments are never animated correctly" video on one of them. With them just hitting all the strings at the same time and stuff
It's so weird to me that they don't at least give you enhanced defenses while stuck in the animation, especially considering there's some AoWs in the game that give you outright invulnerability during their casts. It's like From makes these flashy spells dogshit on purpose

Your pain is delicious NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM🤌, anyway, I love the scarlet pupa, the biggest call back of the century ten out of ten additionally, you are now a true pupa, unable to attack, unable to defend, hoping to the elden lord you fail to get hit. Finally, a lore accurate pupa depiction, and I just love the true representation of the pupa in this video. Thank you for the recognizing of the oft forgotten parts of the butterfly, we gotta recognize the beauty, the weakness, and the ugly parts too.
Fun fact, you can't kill Malenia phase 1 with a critical bc there's a glitch where if you do she spawns in 2nd phase and dies immediately, they couldn't figure out how to fix it so they did that instead

It is so fucking stupid that beating Malenia doesn't give any access to an alternate ending or anything important to the plot... With how much of a true battle it is, and her own importance to the plot... It's just a waste that all you get out of it is some loot and the ability to negate an ending if you kill a different boss
I killed Hoarah Loux with rot on my first try but because I died at the same time and he has dialogue it didn't count either. I did have an easier time with the dragon breath and 50 vigor though.

I think if you used Mimic on Malenia and then just hung back till she killed the Mimic there would be a good chance it popped rot and started your fight with her already rotted even if at full health. But I don't know if that would actually help much, it looks like pure suffering.
I just wish the cast time was like half a second faster. All the buffs were great, but it’s still really easy to get knocked out of the startup. It would also be great if you could use it while airborne. It shouldn’t give you extra height, but it would allow you to use it while jumping over some attacks.

It's honestly shocking how this spell went from dog water to arguably one of the best openers in the game for PVE, I know it's compared to rotten breath a lot, though, I've found this to actually consistently be a better starting move (post buff taking less time to recover from, especially since a good chunk of bosses have a scripted agro animation/move that can be predicted), just a shame how the video was released like, a few weeks before it became actually pretty decent, also bosses suck at dodging it because they often try to dodge the first hit then run right into the subsequent ones which actually build up the rot
Amazing video. You truly have far more patience than I do. However, and I don't know if this was fully intentional, when it comes to Melania you really made it harder for yourself by not equipping any heavier armor. It may be thematically appropriate but her "armor" is all fashion and no defense. With a proper set up of talismans, spells, consumables, and armor you can easily survive a full Waterfowl with roughly half HP remaining. In my experience this is what works for me: -Banished Knight Helmet (unaltered, pain to get but objectively better than the normal one) -Banished Knight Armor (unaltered, an even bigger pain to get but still worth it) -Bull-Goat Gauntlets -Bull-Goat Leggings -Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman (+20% physical negation) -Opaline Hardtear (+15% damage negation across the board for 3 full minutes) -Black Flame's Protection (you already know what this does) -Golden Vow (highly optional but nice, +15% damage and +10% damage negation for 70s) Optional replacement for Black Flame: -Boiled Crab (the most optional item on the list as it's fairly out of the way and is basically a non-FP cost replacement to Black Flame, +20% physical negation for 60s) add in Erdtree's Blessing and the Blessed Dew Talisman and you have a nigh indestructible and passively regenerating monster. Though the Endurance requirement for the armor is hefty at like 40ish
You dont actually have to kill Draconic Tree sentinel. But the other way takes waaay waay longer. You gotta kill 2 shardbearers, Radahn to crash the meteor, Mimic tear to access sifora aqueduct, double Gargoyles to access deeproot and then Fia's Simps. The portal there should take you right behind the DTS.

Unfortunately, that would be way too big of a mobility tool ruining most of the entire game's map design, so it couldn't be allowed.

Here I am loving my aspects of the crucible. They may be mediocre incantations, but they’re my mediocre incantations.

52:50 the reason why you can't trigger some multiphase bosses (like the duo or malenia) transition with a DoT or a critical is because it's a hard fix from the developers to avoid the multiphase instakill glitch. Thinking of that, they have this issue since mergo's wetnurse in BB (where she takes double poison damage)

Hey quick question, are you ever gonna do RL1, ng+7 with only (insert bad weapon)? I wonder which one you would use this time, bad weapons are not hard to find, but fire giant and godskin duo exist, so that kinda limits your options if you don’t want to have hour long fights.

so long as parrying is allowed the Duo wouldn't be all that bad tbh, Godskin Nobles are probably the easiest boss in ER to parry, and one of the easier bosses since Gwyn to parry and the riposte I-frames would keep safe from the apostle usually
@@leftyer9102 But a lot less when you need to be perfect to not get oneshot. Also he would have to establish what is allowed, like for example, are the shield aromatics ok? Because with those i don't see them being much of a problem (assuming they can prevent the oneshot) but without, it gets inconsistent. If everything is allowed there's probably at least a work around most problems though
This was a hella difficult challenge. You have all my admiration that you had patience and interest in completing the run and you defo deserve a relaxing weekend without any fromsoft game and flower in proximity.

It is so fucking stupid that beating Malenia doesn't give any access to an alternate ending or anything important to the plot... With how much of a true battle it is, and her own importance to the plot... It's just a waste that all you get out of it is some loot and the ability to negate an ending if you kill a different boss
I killed Hoarah Loux with rot on my first try but because I died at the same time and he has dialogue it didn't count either. I did have an easier time with the dragon breath and 50 vigor though.

I think if you used Mimic on Malenia and then just hung back till she killed the Mimic there would be a good chance it popped rot and started your fight with her already rotted even if at full health. But I don't know if that would actually help much, it looks like pure suffering.

I just wish the cast time was like half a second faster. All the buffs were great, but it’s still really easy to get knocked out of the startup. It would also be great if you could use it while airborne. It shouldn’t give you extra height, but it would allow you to use it while jumping over some attacks.

Altered Malenia's armor, Nox Greaves, Bandit Manchettes and the Commoner's Headband (Altered)
It's honestly shocking how this spell went from dog water to arguably one of the best openers in the game for PVE, I know it's compared to rotten breath a lot, though, I've found this to actually consistently be a better starting move (post buff taking less time to recover from, especially since a good chunk of bosses have a scripted agro animation/move that can be predicted), just a shame how the video was released like, a few weeks before it became actually pretty decent, also bosses suck at dodging it because they often try to dodge the first hit then run right into the subsequent ones which actually build up the rot
Amazing video. You truly have far more patience than I do. However, and I don't know if this was fully intentional, when it comes to Melania you really made it harder for yourself by not equipping any heavier armor. It may be thematically appropriate but her "armor" is all fashion and no defense. With a proper set up of talismans, spells, consumables, and armor you can easily survive a full Waterfowl with roughly half HP remaining. In my experience this is what works for me:
-Banished Knight Helmet (unaltered, pain to get but objectively better than the normal one)
-Banished Knight Armor (unaltered, an even bigger pain to get but still worth it)
-Bull-Goat Gauntlets
-Bull-Goat Leggings
-Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman (+20% physical negation)
-Opaline Hardtear (+15% damage negation across the board for 3 full minutes)
-Black Flame's Protection (you already know what this does)
-Golden Vow (highly optional but nice, +15% damage and +10% damage negation for 70s)
Optional replacement for Black Flame:
-Boiled Crab (the most optional item on the list as it's fairly out of the way and is basically a non-FP cost replacement to Black Flame, +20% physical negation for 60s)
add in Erdtree's Blessing and the Blessed Dew Talisman and you have a nigh indestructible and passively regenerating monster. Though the Endurance requirement for the armor is hefty at like 40ish

You dont actually have to kill Draconic Tree sentinel. But the other way takes waaay waay longer. You gotta kill 2 shardbearers, Radahn to crash the meteor, Mimic tear to access sifora aqueduct, double Gargoyles to access deeproot and then Fia's Simps. The portal there should take you right behind the DTS.
