What can I say.... I love Reno. I'm from Seattle and I am 58 years old. I have been to Reno only 5 times in my life and I have loved it every time. A lot of people love Reno because of the great access to exciting gaming, performance shows, and entertainment girls, but what I love MOST about Reno is the access to GREAT FOOD. Man, the buffets in the major downtown casinos is EATING HEAVEN! And there are a number of other great places to eat in the Reno area too! Another great thing about Reno is the great access to nearby geographical areas such as Virginia City, Carson City, Lake Tahoe, Sparks, and the Truckee river valley, etc....
I can't wait to go back and visit THE BIGGEST LITTLE CITY IN THE WORLD!

i've been in & out of reno for the last 50 yrs.. its hey day was the '70's & '80's.. when California approved the Indian casinos in the '90's, its been down hill ever since.. nobody wants to go over Donner pass in the winter, except to ski..
Yes. I’m from Stockton, moved to Fernley about a decade ago but everything you said is 100% correct. Reno needs to change or continue to die because Reno’s days of being Las Vegas Jr. are way over.

Reno, like most places on this planet, is what you make of it. Gambling?? Not with my hard earned ca$h. We have friends that live in Reno and we visited there last year. What a great part of the country! We used it as a base to explore our great west. Lake Tahoe, Virginia City, the mountains and Donner lake and Donner Pass...(anyone hungry?) all great places to visit end enjoy life! You can be grumpy anywhere really, we choose to go through life having a blast! Reno? What are you waiting for is my only question?

I worked at Harrahs in fine jewelry and was paid 20% of all I sold beside my salary and rich guys bought plenty for entertainers, and gave GENEROUS tips. Loved it.

I hope you been safe in Reno. I was there last week. There's a lot of down and out people downtown on the streets. I made 2 videos while I was there. The 1st is me standing in front of the Reno light sign on Virginia Ave with Harrahs in the back ground. I had my acoustic bass guitar on dressed in my all black leather Elvis 68 Comeback Special outfit. I sang Viva Las Vegas Reno style, singing Viva Rockin Reno. Yeah, I'm comprehensive, too. I cover all the bases. I even did a love song yesterday.

a lot of stuff like gambling and fast weddings were actually a part of reno while vegas adopted and expanded on those concepts and being run by the mob and such

Being in CA my entire life and these "wild fires" getting worse each year, and now the PG&E controlled power outages Im thinking about moving out of CA.
First time I went to Reno Nevada was back in the 90s as a young teenager. Pops took me to Reno and back then I remember both sides of the streets packed with people and plenty of hot women. Not sure how it is these days tho, I only go there for Hot August Nights.

Look dead compared to when I was last there in '91. Virgina Street was a parking lot with vehicles cruising it

Where is the Sands Regency? I may be coming out later this year. I've only been to Winnemucca and Las Vegas.
About two or three blocks West of the main strip. Not a great spot, but is popular because of their rates. Look them up on TripAdvisor.

So I'm moving there next week to take a little break from Hawaii to see my bf. Anything I should watch out for? He told me that downtown is crack central and people are straight out rude there and it's not as amazing like the media commercialized.
