In 1987, my friend Scotty and I spent three days driving the entire white rim in my new subaru turbo 4wd wagon. I remember where the climb up Murphy Hogback began, but I don't remember the huge elevation gain it shows in this video. I know we did it though. Going up the Horse Thief trail switchbacks at the end I will never forget. The view of that on google earth is amazing.
just did this whole trail last week in a stock tundra.. bad ass.

Why do I feel like I just watched Clint Eastwood drive a truck camper? I'd say, if that Northstar can make it, my 9.5 S&S could do it. I guess a dry run with just the truck may be in order from a nearby camp area.

Love the music from "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" movie. Now that I've turned 60 and retired, have been researching my own rig to go off road camping. Like your 1 ton truck but am undecided about whether to get a dually or not. Realize it depends on payload but can you shed some light on this issue since you have experience (knowing what you know now - would you keep your srw?). Thanks!
was the air thin up there? what would you do if you met someone coming down?
General rule of thumb is the down going vehicle has the right of way, reality they see a rig is big they move out of the way.
@@travelingman21000 Actually it's opposite. Uphill has right away. Ultimately it's who can get to the turn out the safest, but generally it's up hill has right away.
@@Starbreaker666 Yes your right, I guess I just got use to others giving away do to the size of my rig. I never have forced the issue.

what size trucks? and do you have suspension mods?
One-ton truck, Ram 3500 4x4. Only Bilstein shocks, Nitto Terra Grapler G2 AT tires, and a Hellwig Big Wig sway bar on the rear axle.
