- In the winter of 1999, Willy had a cough, which maestro Koskinen had also. So during those sick days, the maestro recorded himself sneezing and also wrote a poem that makes easier to understand this music. When he finished the piece, he said to his friend George Cowell: "This is probably the worst piece a human wrote in the whole history of music". Cowell agreed.
The image included is a painting that maestro Dze Paara made for this occasion.
We share with all of you the poem the maestro wrote for this piece:
"Piggy sickness"
On Koskinen's farm, a pig quite grand,
Willy, the funniest in all the land.
But today he won’t oink, nor dance in delight,
he’s got a bad cold that keeps him up all night.
With a red nose and a scarf on his hoof,
he sneezes so hard he shakes the roof.
"Achoo!" echoes loudly, a thundering sound,
the chickens all scatter, nowhere to be found.
Koskinen brings him hot soup in a cup,
but Willy just snorts, "This won’t cheer me up!
Where’s my chocolate and my cozy fleece?
I’m a gourmet pig; I demand some peace!"
The doctor, a goat with glasses and tie,
prescribes rest and patience-no need to cry.
"Relax, dear pig, with some laughter too,
soon you’ll be singing and feeling like new."
Willy sighs, dramatic as ever,
"What’s life without applause? I’m much too clever!
I need my audience, my time on stage-
being still at home just fills me with rage!"
But in the end, with care and some cheer,
Willy recovers, his energy clear.
Back on Koskinen's farm, he’s the star once more,
oinking and dancing, adored like before.
So beware of colds, and take this advice:
even famous pigs must rest once or twice!
