There were never 17 members at the same time but the company and trainees already promoted with the lable 17 because the goal was to debut 17 memebers and their debut got pished back all the time until they finally debut with the 13 memeber lineup that still remained
And actually there are 2 americans in seventeen one is named JOSHUA(15:58) AND VERNON(15:24) Extremely talented guys joshua is in the vocal unit and vernon in the peerformance unit(rap unit)

SO BASICALLY GUYS the leader of seventeen is S.COUPS (8:45)
8:44 / 14:53 this is the leader scoups and the leader of the hiphop unit. 9:20 this is wonwoo and he is in the hiphop unit as well, so he mostly raps but he has some singing parts as well. 12:15 u r right this is woozi and hes the leader of the vocal unit. 14:58 and hoshi is the leader of the dance unit. If someone requests a m/v from SVT LEADERS just know that there would be only 3 members there, which are the leaders of each 3 units. Theres another unit as well called BSS with 3 members, hoshi, dk and seungkwan (BSS stands for Boo Seok Soon which is some part of the members name) this unit isnt something in particular but it was formed after the 3 members perfomed a song at a fan meeting and then the fans liked it so they decided to form a unit!!
9:33 Yes, all 13 members can dance, rap, and sing! 🔥🔥🔥 In their concerts, they even do a “Unit switch” where the rappers sing the vocals unit’s songs, the singers try out rapping the rap unit’s songs, and the dancers do both units! Seventeen is famous for these “Unit switch” performances!
They also have “Part switch” versions of their MVs, where they randomly swap parts to mess around. It started as a joke to mock each other, but now it’s become a trend that other groups are doing too! 😂 Seventeen might be all fun and games off stage, but they’re super serious and professional when they’re performing!

In the first chorus, the person in front is s. coups, the leader. In the second chorus, Dino is in the front. Woozi is the one with the yellowish hair colour. Joshua is said to have the deep singing voice you heard. Hoshi is the lead dancer. Seungkwan is the led singer. S. Coups is the lead rapper. about the group, you’re right. it’s 13 members + 3 units + 1 team = 17. also, before they debuted, the plan was to debut with 17 members initially, but for some personal reasons this ended up not happening. (oh, just saying, the latest comeback came with a MV for each unit’s music - hiphop unit with LALALI, performance unit with SPELL and vocal unit with CHEERS TO YOUTH.)
btw, yeah, the guy you pointed out last time assuming he was rapping on “Maestro” and then singing on “I don’t wanna cry” is actually the leader of the group as well as the leader of the hiphop unit, Scoups. and yes, he can rap and he can sing and still dance really well! (to tell the truth, we CARATS always say that Seventeen is a group made up of all-rounders hehe)
and about wonwoo (the guy with the deepest voice), yes! he is part of the hiphop unit and he can rap and sing too ejdjwjsjwjde
i recommend that you guys watch some more videos of their videos, MV or dance practices and trust me, y’all will really love to see how much synchronized they are.

seventeen was originally going to debut with seventeen members but 3 trainees left and the reason for the name change
Their called seventeen because theres 13 members, 3 units and there 1 team, meaning 13 plus 3 plus 1 equals 17
the majoirty of their songs are group songs but within albums there are unit songs, people sometime refer to them as the Kings of Sychronization
1 unit is the vocal unit consisting of: Joshua, Woozi(blonde guy in maestro, also the producer of all their songs, also is the vocal units leader), Jeonghan, and the two main vocalists, DK and Seungkwan
Another unit is the hip hop unit consisiting of: Scoups(hip hop unit leader, seventeens leader), Vernon, Mingu and Wonwoo
The last unit is the performance unit consisting of: Hoshi(the performance unit leader, the main dancer), The8, Jun and Dino(also the main dancer).
They also some times make songs in groups from the year there born:
-The 1995's are Scoups, Jeonghan and Joshua
-The 1996's are Jun,Wonwoo,Woozi and Hoshi
The 1997's are The8, Mingu and DK
The 1998's are Seungkwan and Vernon who also add the 1999, Dino.
Also, there are two chinese members, Jun and The8 who have made duo songs together same with the two american members, Joshua and Vernon.
They also have a sub unit called BSS, one of their songs is being used as Korea's song for the olympics, but this unit consists of: Seungkwan, Hoshi, DK. There like the most energetic members.
The member most people know is Mingu, he has the most followers and is also well known for being part of the '97 liner' group which is a friend group made up of idols born in 1997 such as him, jungkook, jaehyun from nct and eunwoo from astro.
The Seventeen's leader is also the hip hop unit's leader.

I do want to encourage yall to be more mindful of your mics. It can be so easy to forget to keep the mic close to your mouth when you speak, and I also use both hands to talk a lot so I know it’s not easy! But we wanna hear what each of you have to say so I hope this little reminder will help you elevate your reactions :) keep doing a fantastic job! I love how positive you are and I can see you all really trying to remember all the details of the groups and truly under what you’re listening and watching.
I will say, while carats are always happy to help with info and recommendations, I think we’d all also love to see you react to the very Long Seventeen guide on TH-cam by user caratline. And the Seventeen episode of Killing Voice on the Dingo TH-cam channel is also very good to hear a variety of their songs, as well as see their personality and how they interact with each other. (If you watch the killing voice episode, a couple of things to keep in mind: it does have English captions and one of the members had recently come back from hiatus due to a death in the family so he is more quiet - he was likely given less lines during this performance as well for this reason.)

svt is the biggest self-producing group and woozi has around 133+ songs copyrighted under his name. apart from working for seventeen, he has also worked on songs for other artists like IOI, Ailee, Nuest, Baekho etc. woozi is also a full time member of the Korea Music Copyright Association. woozi is the youngest to win best producer award in AAA. he is indeed svt and carats' pride and our genius producer. woozi, vernon and dino along with bumzu writes almost all their lyrics as well. as a cherry on top, hoshi of svt also self choreographed most of their songs in their early debut era and svt is most known for their synchronisation and are called the powerhouse of kpop for their absolutely powerful performances!

We need a Monsta X reaction I feel like they would LOVE them, esp if they really like aggressive raps.
Monsta X are 3rd gen boy group that debuted under starship entertainment in 2015 I believe. They were formed through a survival program called No Mercy.
If you really like the rapping in boy groups and a more aggressive tone or style of music I think you’d really enjoy them though they also have their more laid back chill melodic stuff as well.

A couple of things, when looking at Don’t Wanna Cry (2017) and Maestro (2024), keep in mind the timing between the two. So not only is there 6-7 year gap, there’s also vastly different budgets and experience levels at work. The songs kind of reflect their stage of life at the time a bit. That being said, it is very hard to pinpoint this group to one particular style/genre. Probably impossible.
Suggestions I’d make for what to watch next:
Dance practices for the songs you’ve already heard. Especially Hot. You actually see a different side of them when you watch them dance and realize how complex and complicated the arrangements and transitions are, especially for a team this large. They are very well known for their synchronization.
Killing Voice. You get samples of a lot of their songs, especially the older ones.
You expressed the interest in the sub units. So I would suggest the following MVs: Lalali (Hip Hop Unit), Spell (Performance Unit), Cheers to Youth (Vocal Unit). And then for the special subunits/pairings: Cheers (Seventeen Leaders), Fighting (BSS), My I (The 8 and Jun), 2 Minus 1 (Joshua and Vernon), and Last Night (Jeonghan and Wonwoo).
