    April 30 2022. I've just received a set of turbos from a different seller on Ebay for my 335XI 2008. They are not the same ones as these as they don't have the band around the manifold area (yes it's a bit thinner there but I'm cool with that). I've been going through the troubled areas along with Mr Costel here and I can clearly see that the manufacturer has been looking into the things mentioned here on them. The waste gate actuator is the most solid thing I've seen yet from all the videos I've watched over time. The coolant port he points out on this one is deep on the bearing housing so that's good. The heat shield he points out may still need to be replaced with the OEM TD03 one but I'm not sure. But I can feel that there's a slight but noticeable binding on the intake wheel as I turn it that would make sense if this is the case still. I will replace the ones on these with the ones from my OEM TD03's turbos when I do the swap so there shouldn't be a problem with that after. I really don't understand why he's pointing out the waste gate flapper as hasn't ever fallen off that I know of and if it's welded up as he's suggesting (or I'm perceiving) I don't see how it would seal properly as it wouldn't be able to close correctly. But maybe I just don't understand what he's referring to. On my turbos the waste gate seems incredibly strong and robust. Almost too strong but I don't know (It's a very strong spring in the arm). There are no burrs in the turbine wheel and everything looks pretty good to me. I got mine from "1st Racing" they are 17T's with the 6X6 blades. 0 to 60 made a comment about the possible troubles in the past with the 11 blades soooo.... LOL. I'm not sure who made them but I'm thinking most of them are made by VIV but I have no proof of that. So for me I will swap out the shield he pointed out and I'm praying I'll be good to go. I hope this might be helpful. Oh I bought the turbos in a package deal including the 2inch inlets which was very inexpensive. I hope not so much so that I got some nasty turbskis. LOL.

      The reason I couldn’t use the tdo3 heatshield is because the thickness is smaller and it would move the turbine wheel closer to the turbine housing which can cause the wheel to touch the housing. That is why I machined the heatshield that it came with. The welding of the flap is just to secure the washer to the flap.

      @@turbolabamerica I can't thank you enough for sharing all your wisdom and knowledge on all of this. any of us looking for a cheap affordable way to go fast reliably. (I'm not cheap I'm just very poor. I work for a non profit charity). Anyway, thank you! So I'm oping your comment on this means you think I might have some luck with using the td03 shields in place of the ones I believe are rubbing on the turbine wheel as you showed. I of course don't have the tools to shave the shield like you did so skillfully but from what you mentioned I'm really hoping I can substitute them out and be fine. Thank you again. DO you think there might be any reason I would run into a problem with trying that idea? I guess it's almost impossible to say without seeing the turbos your self. But I'm hoping. Maybe there's a shield I can purchase that would be the right ones??

      Didn’t VIV address all the 19t issues after he made a video about them ? I remember he rechecked it after they fixed the issues and he approved it.

    i think only the ''china 19T's'' bearing housing are machined to accept the 14mm spacer, i think all ''17T's'' always had the 12mm, even the upgraded V3 version

    is the ring that is holding the exhaust manifold to the turbine housing removable? Like is it a vband style clamp that can just be replaced?

    What is your opinion on the dual port thrust bearings?

    I bought a set of viv 17t 2 weeks ago. It has 14mm thrust collars, correct o ring at compressor housing,no heatshield problem. It’s maybe an upgraded version. I will make a leak test and rebalance them and hope the bests. Or should I change the main bearings of them for an other type because them of chineese material?

      There are literally dozens of ways to cheap out and have a much better car than stock on a bmw what are you talking about?

    • @ahw5hcgfyj
      @ahw5hcgfyj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SicSemperBeats buying aliexpress knockoff components that are bound to fail. Every day you see someone on facebook posting that their china turbos blew, their fake injectors leak, their budget inlets collapsed or their fake tial bov fell apart. And this video right here does a good job explaining why. It's crazy how many people waste their money knowing this stuff is too good to be true only to have to replace it again shortly after. Do it right or do it twice.

    • @SicSemperBeats
      @SicSemperBeats 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ahw5hcgfyj lol you realize the most popular mods are rebranded aliexpress parts right? BMS oil catch cans and intakes are legit the exact same as aliexpress. Same thing with arm intercoolers and a few other parts. I used to resell chinese items (not car parts, computer parts) and you’d be surprised which items are rebranded age straight from HK. Im not saying buying buy chinese turbos but most bolt on parts aren’t bespoke nor some unique design from the brand.

    • @ahw5hcgfyj
      @ahw5hcgfyj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SicSemperBeats I own both. The BMS one is much higher quality. the china one is much lighter, flimsy and uses what seem like plastic fittings. the BMS one has different metal fittings welded in. They also use S&B filters. The VRSF inlets are much stronger than the china ones which are known to collapse under vacuum. A lot of the china pipes aren't deburred and have fitment issues. Although some places like M///R just rebrand china there are many higher quality options. It's no secret there are tons of knock offs and they do not compare 1:1. And I wasn't talking about metal pipes. I was talking about components like injectors and water pumps. And these shit turbos. The reality is if you can't afford quality turbos, you definitely can't afford to put china ones on because that money will go down the drain and you'll end up having to replace them again costing you more money

    Just a bunch of junk turbos.. All you kids out there need to realize that all these eBay parts are only going to hurt your feelings.
    Advice is buy quality parts and if you can’t afford them.. well you can’t afford the car.
    RB or Pure are the only turbos anyone should consider for this platform.

      Bro I honestly don't know how you're saying that in 2022, these over seas ebay sellers have had lots of time for trial and error. Obviously the quality isn't the same but many have been proven to make good power. And as far as not being able to afford the car you can pick these cars up for 8k all day long. Get your shit straight before you attack people with no information.
