  • Today we're installing a set of eBay turbos on my 335i build! These came in right at $300 shipped, which I think makes them the cheapest turbos you can find for the N54. Regardless of the price, they appear to have the same quality and construction as the factory turbos, and even come balanced out of the box!
    Let me know what you think of these turbos, or what your experience has been with ebay turbos on your build! I'll put a link to them below, but stay tuned for our follow-up videos when we can finally put some miles on this car!

    Thanks to videos like this and your previous on how to rebuild them, with them I felt confident enough to do it for myself and I’m happy to say I’m over 1000kms on my own rebuilt turbos that I had vsr balanced locally, and they’re doing strong! I couldn’t believe I could pull -15inhg and I could spin the flapper with a finger on the old ones!

    I watched your video about turbos rebuild with turbo lab kit, and it worked, I did it on 2 engines, one of them already ran 120k miles after rebuild.

    Thank you sir! Bought OEM actuators for my new 19t turbos. The last few minutes where you were messing with adjustments really helped me piece together how to make the swap. Great content as always 🦾

    You should have done the rebuild through turbo lab of America it was 300$ of the bearings and rebuild service and you get upgraded bearing for more boost and longer turbo life

    Just for the record, the 335 turbos aren’t made in Germany either. They’re Mitsubishi.
    Which makes him Japanese turbos. No knock on that at all though, Mitsubishi actually makes some pretty good airplanes. Some turboprops. In a former life I used to wrench on them.

    6:00 i dont understand turbos from inside very well , sorry i have a dumb question can a leaky turbo mix coolant and oil from inside in some how ?
    I just took my car head cylinder off the block and man the head gasket is like new . Took the turbos out find out one of them leaking oil .
    What made me confused is my coolant container has no oil mix but the oil is filthy milk shake thing . So i said this has to be a headgasket .
    Note : my car symptoms was exterme case of white smoke from the exhausts like a fog .

    Your vacuum guage is in inHG and mmHG. The reading is under 10 inHG, doesnt that make it less tham 0.5 PSI? How do we find out what the reading/spec should be?

    Are you currently doing this kind of service on other people's beemers locally? I have an 07' e92 that could definitely benefit from this service.

    I’m not sure I agree with the Chinese option. I’ve never been impressed with any part manufactured in China for a German car. The proof of this choice will be in its longevity.

    I have a small amount of wastegate rattle upon start up on my fbo stage 2+ 08 335i.
    Never had any boost issues .......and every once in awhile will get a little rattle on hard pull. Found a shop in my town that is gonna charge me an hours labor and is gonna tighten up the wastegate rod. I'm hoping this is gonna work and extend the life of my stock spinney boys. What's your opinion?

    • @TheBimmerBarn
      @TheBimmerBarn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Worth doing the adjustment! Less rattle, more booooooost :)

    $300 each for 2 made in china turbos that maybe new but means the parts where made in japan/ china versus $59-$89 each for a quality rebuild kit and possibly $100 each for rebalancing if you forgot to mark your nuts prior to disassembly ? much more budget friendly. and you are using the original turbos and impellers. Only reason to buy new is if changing the size and impellers.

    How long do you think it took to remove the turbos?

    • @supermanwithheat
      @supermanwithheat 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on your own mechanical ability and the tools at your disposal.
      Took me about 45-60 minutes from jacking the car up to actually removing the turbos.

    • @tylerjones4060
