  • Wasn't going to film these at first but when I found out they've use electroluminescent displays and travel fast I decided to film one.
Forget the buttons, the main interesting point of these elevators is the yellow electroluminescent (not LCD like most people said) display used on the floor indicators rather than the bog standard blue LCD display. It has this cool looking door opening/closing animation and the ability to show the next floor the elevator is heading to, though it doesn't seems to work well as it often shows random characters (probably a glitch in the system). It is also shown in Danish rather than English; most OTIS 2000/GeN2 with similar displays elsewhere would normally show their next floor in English regardless of the country's native language. Quite an informative display; it must've been a pretty premium feature that OTIS offered back then which is why not many of these European OTISes use this kind of display. Interior also looks nice with glass surfaces; this is known as Selecta in older OTIS aesthetic brochures which also included the ELD displays as an option. But still the car is a bit dark thanks to the fact that the only lights are located on the sides of the button panels, typical European OTIS elevators. Lumina car interiors have lights directly on the ceiling, and not on the button panels.
Performance, they run pretty fast and well for a six storey historic department store right in Copenhagen's main shopping street. The top floor is where the management office is and is locked out by PIN codes in the elevators. Both elevators are now maintained by KONE as stated on the inspection certificate and of course...their own alarm notice sticker on the button panels.
Oh one more thing, this store used to have loads of old 1960s Rheinstahl Eggers Kehrhahn escalators from Germany but sadly all of them have been modernized into ThyssenKrupp Velino and I was already too late to film them. Even the 1988 O&K KONE units in the newer building have also been modernized....so disappointing. You can see the old escalators here: • 1967 Rheinstahl Eggers... (video by Heritage Elevators, filmed in 2012).

Perhaps because our Gen2 model got off to a late start (we stuck with the good old Otis 300VFE, which is IMO a far better model than it), we never got the ELD indicator. Even the later LCD revision (distinguished because it has any other colour other than yellow) is rare, with only a couple installs.
