Really like this video concept. I would be interested to see a similar metric applied to other factions, though that would be a ton of work. I had some of my own thoughts on the early Primuses if you're interested, although I'm not really familiar with the later ones. Blake: 4-5-3-4-5 (21) I gave him a 4 in power because ComStar wasn't built from nothing, it was a continuation of the SLDC. His work was more ensuring its continued survival during the First Succession War than radically altering the organisation. Yes, he concocted the religious aspects of ComStar on his deathbed, but by your own rules, the score is about what they achieved in their life, not what they planned. I gave him a 4 in unity because although there were different directions his successors wanted to take ComStar, they were united behind him as long as he was alive. Toyama: 5-2-5-2-5 (19) Konrad gets an extra point in power that I took from Blake. However, while at his height he gave the organisation purpose and unity through the Word of Blake, he was probably assassinated by his successor for his mismanagement of the Free Worlds League interdiction. So his score for unity at the time of death is only 2. I imagine the lower ranked acolytes still supported him, but not the First Circuit. Karpov: 3-4-4-5-4 (20) This is where I disagree with you the most I think. Image definitely improved because that was part of the whole reason he took power, so that he could restore Successor State faith in ComStar. He didn't face any significant internal dissent that I can remember (or rather, he purged anyone who might disagree with him at the beginning of his reign), so I think he should get a 5 for unity, even if it came by force. He was a much more favourable ruler to the moderates by the end as well. I don't think the problems on Terra had really started yet so he's no more to blame than any of the others. While the late Second Succession War doesn't compare with anything Blake and Toyama faced, I still think it warrants a 4. Marteen: 3-5-4-2-3 (17) I gave her a five for image because she was the first Primus whose death caused some of the Successor Lords to travel to Earth for her funeral. Lowered the score in unity because the First Circuit blocked much of her reforms, and then she was most likely murdered by one of her precentors (albeit a mad one). Certainly a step down from Karpov. One extra point in events for facing a unique challenge on Terra that her predecessors had unwittingly created via their propaganda. Kurstin: 2-3-1-1-1 (8) Even lower score for power because his murdering of Precentors and ROM cannibalising itself surely had negative effects. Hartford: 3-3-3-5-3 (17) Gave him an extra point in events because I'd say the ComStar Civil War was a pretty significant challenge he had to overcome. It may have been before he rose to power, but I think it should factor more into his score. Marshall: 3-4-4-3-1 (15) I think you sum up her underwhelming primacy pretty well. York: 4-4-4-1-3 (16) He was literally assassinated. Definitely needs a low unity score. Image may have been great among the common people, but the confrontation on Luthien must have hurt their relationship with the Draconis Combine. Moved that point to purpose because I'd say the founding of the ComStar Guards and Militia was something new for the organisation. Also, I thought you'd made an editing mistake for a second when Thomas Marik popped up until I went back to pause it so I could read the slide, lol.
Hey, thank you for this thorough comment and sharing your opinions with us! Your explanation is very well-thought-out and quite sensible. Great that you enjoyed the video concept. I may do a similar ranking in the future, but as you pointed out, it is not that easy. I have to find a group with limited scope, yet still enough information to make all of them comparable; and preferably in comparable circumstances. (Although there may is one certain group on my mind that could work...time to hurry back to my research!)
Hmm Best Villain of the Best Villains… actually it’s the dude who instituted the Mercenary Reviews he was well beloved AND didn’t catch a life ending traffic Jam
I dont view Jerome blake as the founder of the word of blake, thats all Toyama. he used Blake's name to do some pretty horrible things like killing scientists and other leading researchers, where word of blake doubles down on and goes on full genocidal mode.
Evidently the best Primus, keep ROM, FIRST CIRCUIT happy, make $$$, maintain dubious neutrality with INNER SPHERE, make Periphery friends …. Quietly “take care of” enemies
