- Today, I take on my second-ever ROM hack in the highly-requested Pokémon Renegade Platinum. I decided on steel types since they're usually bulky, have a lot of weaknesses, and generally aren't Pokémon I use, like, ever, so why not? Is this game as hard as Emerald Kaizo, or was it built up just a bit too much? Find out now!

Author: "Holy crap, this is one of the smartest things I've ever heard…"
Also I believe this Rom hack got rid of every trade evolution for level ups instead and for those who evolve by trading with an item you either use it as a stone or have them hold it and level up. At least I read that somewhere. I could be wrong but I don't see why they wouldn't get rid of trade evos since they're dumb and this can only be played on an emulator where there is no trading.

So... the fact that you name your Piplup “Pippy” makes me happy - it’s what I name my Piplup every single time I replay diamond/pearl/platinum and have always named them since I was a kid.
I loved Renegade Platinum. I did a Fairy-Only run for my first time and let me just say, having Milotic, Meganium, and Ninetales was amazing.

7 years later: I know you've been waiting for this, but we finally finished up the Pokemon Renegade Platinum Professor Oak Challenge. So first off, on route one, we caught: (7 minutes later). Now onto the evolutions.
Someone was trying this on the subreddit. It took like 600 hours pre badge 1.
You have 3 pseudos (metagross, tyrantiar and flygon, which is buffed to be a pseudo in this game) before the first gym and 6 starters
I love drayano hacks because they add elements to the story that feel needed. I would recommend you do similar challenges in his other hacks, especially black/white. I must warn you though, the Ghetsis fight...
@CookiesArentFree ;=; yes fans put more effort yes we dont count makeing hundreds of pokemon all of them whit desighns thatare super complicated also a intire map whit everything and codeing =/ fans do a good job but game freak puts a lot of effort also game freak has a time limit and it has to play a lot of ppl to make this games ;-;

Confusion has always been a side effect of Rock Climb, even when it's normal type.
Mira's sprite isn't custom as you can battle her in the post game of platinum
Back here after beating renegade platinum myself, just so you know for future challenges, in solaceon town at the daycare you can train against chansey/blissey as well as super helpful ev training
While I don't play rom hacks I have to admit this is a really, really well done one and would be a great template for a Gen 4 remake should/when that happens

I’ve watched so many nuzlockes I keep getting surprised when I see a K.O.’d Pokémon back in the game and real confused whenever he is okay with important mons fainting

Was so confused, including when he used Pippy against Cyrus, whose Palkia was already revealed to have Aura Sphere and Earth Power. It was like: *visible confusion* like the expression from Space Jesus in Attack of the Clones.
Amazing, steel is one if not my favorite typing
This video inspired me, so i'm gonna give a try to a Bug Type Monotype playthrough. Considering so many of them got buffs. Predicting Ledyan will be my mvp.

i actually did a similar sort of challenge a while back, a steel monotype run in pokemon sword bc that's the pokemon game i Have
found this video shortly after beating that! glad to see steel types getting love
you have a lot of guts for doing this, gen 4 has a LOT of fire type pokémon
I actually think that Renegade Platinum is at a well-balanced difficulty
So satisfying. Renegade Platinum is the best Rom hack imo. So fun to see different youtubers play it

Uuuuuuuh... that's why Pokemon centers exist, you know - unless they forced you into a second fight right after Cyrus and I doubt they did since you had to go to Pal Park for this battle. ;p

Renegade Platinum is a pretty great ROM hack. I completed the dex for it a few months back. I'm looking forward to what Sacred Gold and Storm Silver V2 will have to offer, and whatever challenge runs you'll do for it ;)
This inspired me to try a Rock Monotype challenge in this rom hack. It’s going to be ludicrously hard because there’s at least one major boss for each type Rock is weak to (Gardenia for Grass, Maylene for Fighting, Wake for Water, Byron for Steel, and Bertha for Ground)

Michael Kowal whenever I see people nuzlocke this game their Beldum/metang always dies and it’s sad :(
@@Mikey-ct3qf tbh they're...really weak. Used a shiny metagross in renegade platinum and it was just so weak, i got so disappointed expecting metagross to be the amazing pokemon people made it out to be

I love Renegade Platinum, probably my favorite Drayano hack and Pokémon game.
I did a monotype run of this game though it was more for fun since it was randomised using CrystalTile and I allowed the use of battle items. I did this with 3 other friends as a sort of race. It was pretty fun but having to go to the snow route just after the second gym was a nightmare since the randomising reset the wild levels. It was there where I lost half my team to my encounter Palkia in the Hail but I captured it. Fortunately it had Aqua Ring to stop it from dieing.

Drayano hacks are definitely difficult as the level spikes happen out of nowhere but they are nowhere near the level of Emerald Kaizo, that game is just hard for hard's sake. Drayano's Black/White and Black2/White2 hacks are absolutely fantastic too :D

Don’t dis Klefki, I’ve used it a play through its a solid Pokémon. Not amazing but definitely solid

@@kirin1230 The Rom hack adds Huge power to the base version, a lot of pokemon with megas get their abilities, some their typings too

Mawile acually got its stat boosted with huge power. Drayano (the creator of renegade platinum) basically made it mega mawile and if any of you have watched chizzy's fairy type only vid in renegade platinum you know how OP mawile is

This game is a perfect example of how Game Freak should make their games’ difficulty. Not too easy like their last main series games. Challenging but not too difficult like the kaizo games.
Next challenge put battle switch on "set" other than that good video man

Dunno if anyone else said this but rock climb always confused the issue is that its usually considered a bad move so most dont know about that effect
My God, I lost a laughable amount of tries against Candice, with only Fighting Types. This is because, Weavile Swords Dances, lives my hit with Focus Sash, and OHKO's everyone on my team with Aerial Ace. Finally, I gave my Infernape a Focus Sash, taught it Mach Punch, and attacked Weavile with Drain Punch, while it Swords Dances. Then a Mach Punch finally kills it.
what emulator do you use id love to play some of these
BTW dude, ik you're probably halfway through something completely different atm, but when you do the POC, there's a person in solaceon daycare who can train evs and give you super easy grinding vs Chansey and Blisseys

Rock Climb has always had a chance to confuse
Great video but I just feel you could've made the challenge better by having nuzlocke rules (edited a bit of course) , only using Pokémon that have steel typing in all their forms, and as soon as you have access to your first steel type you deposit your starter in the box, but hey I've probably just been watching too many nuzlockes
