    My grandmother and I used to hike down that cliff face LONG before the boardwalk down to beach was ever built. We made some great finds down there over the years but thanks to the easy access and the internet it's been picked out. I doubt people will ever find agates on that beach with the size or quality as what we used to. Some things should just remain a special secret.

      Same. The internet has really ruined Oregon's pristine beaches. They're trashed by all the tourism that doesn't care about the ecosystem. I miss the days when everyone who was on those beaches, cared about them.

    I LOVE this beach! I happened upon it unexpectedly on my way up to Tillamook, and have been back to it a few times. One of my favorites for sure. My heart thrilled when I saw that familiar part of the road! Thanks for sharing and taking me back!

    Where I live a largish rock is about 1mm in diameter (sand). The only rocks you'll find here are ones people have paid for, brought in from other areas.
    I've visited some rocky beaches in Oregon and Washington. Like visiting another planet for me!

      Yes, there are still plenty there lol. The daily limit legally in Oregon is 25 lbs which is quite a bit for a day! But you are supposed to collect no more than 250 lbs in a year. Unless you get a commercial license from the state.

    • @Sherspirit
      @Sherspirit หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@americandream23on the beaches you can collect rocks and shells defined as no more than a one-gallon volume container per person per day; up to three gallons per person per calendar year.

      Please take only pictures. All you remove from the shore is not replaced and is essential for the ecosystem. Please do not promote destruction of the coastline.

    • @americandream23
      @americandream23  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just so you know, we are not collecting that much.

  • @vanessag.4636
    @vanessag.4636 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Please do not remove agates from the coastline. Nature should not be exploited this way and the beaches you see now will disappear with constant 'gathering'! It is not accurate that 25 lbs may be taken. That is illegal. Please take only pictures!!!! Leave natute to herself!!!

    • @americandream23
      @americandream23  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I appreciate your comments but obviously do not agree with your point. The RV park where we stay when we are in Netarts has gravel in the RV spots and that gravel has a lot of agates in it. The agates are so plentiful that they grind them up for gravel! I also take exception to calling this exploitation. I don't think collecting some rocks on a beach is exploiting nature.

      We have not! Would definitely love to though. I read there's a beach past Tunnel beach that you can only get to during the extreme low tides but you have to be sure and get back before the tide comes back in or you'll get trapped. Thank you for your comments!
