  • A short tutorial to go over runes. I partly made this video so I could understand them myself. Sorry for the audio quality, this was actually the first video I made with my new microphone and it got very compressed.

I love the short flicker of the heart between Merisiel and Kyra. Nice nod to them being an in-lore couple

This has quickly become one of my favorite tutorial channels. It is so simply explained without the need to get bogged down with exterior details. Learning a new system can be a slog, even with videos. But after watching these, I feel like I am really close to being ready for Pathfinder.

Fun fact: Summoners are the only class that can invest a magic weapon. If they do so, then as long as they're holding it their eidolon gets the benefits of those runes on its unarmed attacks. They can only invest one weapon at a time, though, so no dual wielding to stack more stuff than normally possible.
Unarmed attackers in general do need to invest their "weapon" in the form of handwraps that have the runes on them, but it applies to any unarmed attack they make rather than just the part that they physically wrapped.

What I tend to do is spend my gold on upping the potency rune because getting bonuses to hit means more critical hits and accuracy. Outside of that I rely upon transferring or using a rune stone to get additional runes on my weapon.

How many fundamental runes can a item have? If I have already a +1 sword(fundamental rune of potency) can I add a Striker run AND a flaming rune of I have to choose between those?

So what if nobody in the party plans to be a crafter? Does transferring a rune from a runestone to the weapon/armor still require a crafting check?

Ask your DM to provide an npc that can do rune transfers (you still have to pay the 10%) similar to how society play provides one.

@@MrZelduck I know this is months after the fact, but I just came across this video. Just a minor clarification to point out that, specifically if transferring from a runestone, it's free.
"The DC of the Crafting check to transfer a rune is determined by the item level of the rune being transferred, and the Price of the transfer is 10% of the rune’s Price, unless transferring from a runestone, which is free."

The runes/gems thing for PF2E magic items is really overwrought and makes the process way too complicated. Yet another way, among many, that PF2E penalizes the players in the ridiculous striving for "balance" by the game designers. The hype for PF2E was how much they simplified the game and how easy it is for new people to pick up the game. And that's a load of hot BS. I've been playing PF2E since beta and have had easily twice the amount of rules complications, game delays, and mechanics issues compared to PF1E.
