You have performed the best head to head comparison, and using the ghost overlay in a couple of the lines, that was genius. I'd like to see more content like this. Very well done and narrated.👍🏼
Interesting comparison. I have the sport & the Ecto. Both are upgraded & I have more upgrades for them. Each was a very good RTR crawler but after upgrades they become so much better. Especially the servo. Having a good servo can get you through tuff sections. I’m wondering how much dig feature would help on those courses. Thanks for sharing
Been wanting to try a Torquemaster motor. I've got a Crawlmaster Magnum 11t 5 slot, but I'd like to have the same one you got in the Traxxas.id also like to see how one does in a different rc, like a Wltoys or something like that.
Somebody needs to tell Associated, as they even call it overdrive in the manual. The optional gears provide "Overdrive Option 2." It is indeed rear under-drive at 11.83%, compared to the 13.2% in my Sport. I don't think that extra percent was the difference.
@@CrawlerCanyon I’m not a big fan of offsetting the ratios I think it makes the truck look fake when it’s rolling. But yeah I don’t know why they say overdrive in the manual. I seen a few people do videos on it. I wanted to change the front gear ratio but people in Facebook told me those gears need to be specifically the ones in the manual and the rears can only be changed. But I think that you can also get different axel ring gears to give it more overdrive
@@wildmangeorgesrcchannel6916 The underdrive on the Ecto is mild compared to others-- even the TRX-4 diff/ring is very mild compared to others, so I don't really notice the wheelspeed difference when driving normally. But man does it make a difference on the Ecto going from the stock ~6% to the optional ~12%. MUCH better. My Capra has something like 22% front overdrive, and it is seriously noticeable-- it surges when turning at even a walking pace. But I would never trail the Capra, so it's a non-issue. For any truck that's going to see mixed-use, under/over drive should (IMO) stay below 15%.
I'm not a big fan of RTRs-- I understand their place in the market, but I'm also aware that corners are inevitably cut to try to keep that RTR pricetag reasonable-- with perhaps a handful of exceptions, every RTR comes with slightly-better-than "throwaway" electronics. I would have MUCH preferred the Ecto as a kit, but sadly Element doesn't offer one. The Ecto RTR @ $399 is reasonable, but an Ecto kit at $299 would be absolutely outstanding. It's not just the electronics that get discarded off of RTRs-- the wheels and tires that come stock on crawlers also tend to leave a lot to be desired-- they're usually replaced before the electronics get touched.
@@CrawlerCanyon An older thread for sure but nice vid and great course you have! I'm not sure what came first (Ecto or Gatekeeper) but the Gatekeeper kit I believe is easily converted to an Ecto. I just built a Gatekeeper kit, which I love the Ultra4 look but will definitely be picking up and Ecto body to convert soon.
Back when this video was done, those Rock Beasts were on generic Method 105 clones from Amazon. Injora, Joguly, DJX, and many others all make a version, usually in an array of colors. The Ecto today barely resembles itself from 3 months ago.
They're... okay. I don't know if it's the rigs, the course, or the conditions, but I have 5 sets of PitBull tires, and not a single one of them is mounted to a rig. There's always a tire that can do either a little better, or a whole lot better. IME.
@@jesseco9964 Best off the shelf, I would say JConcepts Tusks (when you can find them) or Duratrax Deep Woods if you're more on mixed terrain. The Deep Woods is like a near perfect trail tire that also happens to crawl remarkably well. Never count out "worked" Canyon Trails with "double buns" (dual stage closed cell inners and a hair bun on the outside) which crawl insanely well, don't care about water (they climb wet rocks while packed with mud as if it were dry out) and they're dirt cheap. But if you just wanna crawl rock, I say Tusks.
@@jopunyao you'll need to remove the side skirts, or cut them down quite a lot, as the Creep is pretty narrow. This means relocating the electronics. Mounting wise, the stock body mount locations work just fine.
The $84 pre-painted is pretty expensive for what you're getting, but the clear w/ acc @ $47 isn't exactly terrible. When you take into consideration that Traxxas crawler body is going to be north of $100, Element is just pricing to the market. I would say that the Creep on my TRX-4, after factoring in paint and a couple of accessories, is comparable to buying a clear Ecto body. It's at least in the neighborhood.
If I weren't actually watching this video, I would assume I'm listening to a golf tournament! Well done video, and great course!

I agree loved that ghost overlay reminded me of mario kart 64 hahaha show a real good comparison aswell...unbelievable
The overlap view is awesome!
Great head 2 head.
I would really like to try my truck on this course someday!
I loved the video and commentary…great job!
Great comparison, I like to commentary too! You have earned yourself another subscriber!
verry good video of these 2 wonderfull cars. I like where they ride together
Those AGFRC servos are great. I have a couple of them.
Nice video, great job. Liked the ghosting. Liked and subscribed. John
This relaxes me. Subbed!
Great match up from the old guard vs the new guard. 👍

Funny you should mention dig, as the Ecto swapped to a dig gearbox some time ago: th-cam.com/video/WgMunfLV7iM/w-d-xo.html
Just added an ecto to go with my TRX4, thanks for the video, subscribed!

Have considered not driving so fast, when it gets tricky?
hope to see morefrom you! great video
I have a trx4 sport and have order a ecto. Mod to trx4 is all that can be done and now the ecto will be mod as soon as I get it.
Nice review!
Elements are under driven in the rear. The front ratio stays the same always

If you have to replace all of the electronics, what's the point of buying it?

Great job man if you keep this up you will grow quick
sport won hands down I thought the Ecto would do better because of being lower.
The creep body looks awesome. CHEERS
The Ecto was way better IMO
can i get a link to the servo you used i can't seem to find it

Which wheel base TRX4 is this?
The normal Sport wheelbase, 12.3" (312mm.)
How do you like the pb growlers?
