I’m a boat owner with 50yrs+ experience. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone approach problem solving with more diligence than Aladino. It’s like watching a surgeon at work; truly inspiring. His calmness is also rare. 🙏
Found the aqua drive bulkhead setup and shaft alignment to be fascinating. Working with precision instruments in tight quarters with bulky equipment is not a simple task. Chalk up another pristine task performed and presented so anyone can understand.
Thanks Aladino. For three years we have tried to replace our gunwale. We didn't want to drill into our boat. We got the stickon studs...amazing! We completed it. Not to Aladino quality but they are up and there...
Maya / Aladino - I have been avidly following your videos for several months now and I couldn't resist becoming a Patreon supporter. I fully understand how much hard work it takes to produce quality content like you do. Your videos and storytelling are simply magnificent. From the enchanting narration that captivates and sparks deep thoughts, to the classy and meticulously crafted videography, and fantastic music, everything about your content exudes elegance, class and attention to detail. It's also the way I imagine you and Aladino to be in real life - refined, relaxed, full of charm and chill. In your Scandinavian Summer journey, I stumbled upon this incredible violinist who has an equally talented twin. Your refit series on Magic Carpet II also surprised me with how much joy it brought me. I never thought I would get into a refit series. The combination of your craftsmanship, meticulous attention to detail, enthralling storytelling, and occasional musical interludes has completely mesmerized me. Both of you possess incredible talent and yet remain admirably humble. Believe it or not, it took me about 20 episodes before I realized I could find you on Spotify. It's a true blessing to have watched over 100 episodes, and I'm excited to continue catching up on your remarkable content. Thank you for sharing your talents and allowing us viewers to be part of your journey and completely entertained.
Maya once spoke about the satisfaction of seeing finished work; the aesthetic taking form. I have to say that in watching the last bit of this vid where the video was sped up just watching finished work emerge - well - it was extremely satisfying. BZ!
The video thumbnail looks great! Toerail coming on, handrail on the rooftop. The cream kiwigrip and bronze hardware around the windows. Classical elegance!
Thanks for sparing us the tedium of watching the Kiwi grip go on in real time, but for those of us who have not done this before, it would have been nice to see some up-close, real-time shots of the steps involved, so as to get a clear "how to do it" picture of the entire process. You are teaching a lot of us as you go with all of these phases of the project. The shaft alignment section was very educational!! We experienced a relapse of winter here in Manitoba as well, but I hope you are well over that hiccup by now. It would have been scary at best to have had any sections of the roof fail while you are doing these time, temperature and moisture-sensitive jobs.
😱 Oh WOW, that was quite a lot of snow and not a welcome surprise. I'm glad that you heard the snow plough/plow and therefore have been able to save the shed roof. Despite the weather a lot of progress happened in this video. Congratulations 🎉. As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Keep on the excellent work. My advice: go for stainless cabinetry hardware, expecially hinges. My experience in hot and humid Florida non stainless will rust within 3 years.
I don’t understand most of it, because English isn’t my first language, and because I’m not a sailor and will never be, but I still like your videos. You look so professional !!
Aladino is a professional Swiss trained boatbuilder and Maya has developed her professional level skills through dedication and hard work on MCII. Maya is so motivated by her exceptional results that she has been choosing projects in the knowledge that she, Aladino and future visitors will be rewarded with the legacy of beautiful glowing varnish, etc. In the modern world, being able to apply your advanced skills to something you live in (MCII) is a very special thing. So it's a generous gift that they have shared this journey. Keep reading, english, write and listen to good people, poetry. Try radio, BBC Radio 4 online (BBC Sounds) and singing in English. Your curiosity and appreciation will reward you.
Count me in too for “All in good time”, what a perfect blend of video and music that you, Maya, do so well… As for Alidino, dude, you are like the Italian painters like Carvagio incorporating the light in your sculptures, I gotta hand it to you both. Well done.
Wow. The resulting precision and beauty that comes out two detailed people working together…it’s breathtaking. Nice work and thanks for sharing because this kind of outcomes is something I can only live vicariously. Lol
Aladino: You are creating a work of art. Your perfection in craftsmanship is a thing of beauty. You and Maya can take great pride in how you have committed yourselves to. As you can attest, your level of perfection takes inordinate amounts of time. The tragedy is that you will be always be concerned with the possibilty of creating damage when the time for immdiate correction to trim and increased security blocks all other considerations. However, your appeal to a perfectionist is appretiated. It is a joy to behold. JK
Such a talented couple. Every challenge overcome one bite at a time. With each month (year) passing by, launch day will be a true achievement. Every viewer should be there to see it. How big is the marina? 😎😊
Guy's it's been a year since my bone infection in my knee sidelined me, my boat will not be floating this year. I am adjusting to being this way, I have a few more surgeries left. I just want you guys to know I look forward to your content every week. I'm banking all your tricks Dino and my Grady will be ship shape next year, if you ever come close to the south Jersey area (USA) I'd love to see your beautiful boat
Thanks again for sharing your dreamboat Magic carpet2. She's coming along really good. The workmanship/workwoman ship is outstanding. You make it believable that you know what you are doing. I think a smart move taking the mountain bike to the boat to take all the snow off your plastic building tent. Looking forward to next video
The thrust plate has to increase the amount of power transmitted to the water. Put another way, it must decrease power loss. Sure it is quieter. Sure the bearings last longer. But the efficiency gain is a huge benefit. Nice engineering and jigging
Nice one. Very interesting how you installed this system at the drive shaft. And I particularly enjoyed your little cockpit dance when you applied the kiwi grip together. Perfect coordination 😂👍
Cheers and more cheers for slogging ever forward. The music highlights your skillful determination and moves all your work to a higher level. A massive creative effort comes with a sound track.
Looking great, inside and out! It strikes me almost every video what an astonishing amount of work this is for two people to undertake. You guys must be dying to get on the water again.
Lucky Brian and Aladino, to share your knowledge and skills on even this part of the project is a great thing. The decks still amaze me, as it's hard to believe you have entirely rebuilt them so meticulously. A aspect of the huge foresight and skill involved is that you are to include features during the re-construction that only become apparent many months later. Hope you can stay in the current tent a good while longer. Perhaps you can cut off the legs and shrink it to a deck level tent? Even when working below, being protected from the weather, makes life much easier. Even a tent of the aft 1/3 of the deck would help.

You won't regret the time you took to revarnish the roof beams and repaint the ceiling! After all of the other work you've done in the boat to have sit and look at that work undone would have been a bummer.
Nice work on the shaft centering. I often used a flat tip on the dial indicator to avoid worrying about error induced by not being on the high spot of the shaft. Starrett sells a set of different tips for indicators if you use an indicator a lot. Nice adjustment fixture!
What a satisfying feeling you guys will have when you sail that beautiful boat for the first time knowing you have put your heart and soul into it!! Amazing!!
Excellent episode. Just want to say the view of you working at the bench with the gorgeous grey hull of MC2 behind you is I find very inspiring and somewhere I want to be. There is something about having your boat in its own house and workshop below. You turn around see her beautiful lines. That is motivation.
That snow fall was a little taste of home for an Ontario born sailer, but I am glad I wasn't trying to get boat work done. We were on the dock and had power issues, so 4 deg C in the boat was less than ideal. Looking forward to seeing Magic Carpet on the water!
I live in Alberta and remember wondering how Magic Carpet was doing when that storm blew thru. Glad to see everything worked out well! And, as always, beautiful work!
I fully get why people are going for Kiwi Grip, The New Zealand national bird is a clumsy beast and if you add a boat to a Kewi you are assured instability so creating a product that reduces that would be essential. They did a good job and now the situation on a boat using their product is better for the Bird.
Thanks for all the updates its fascinating. People are designing and buildiing things all over the world - many of the challenges they face are similar - you are all able to divide a goal into a multitude of steps and complete each step as perfectly as possible. Watches, boats, planes, cars or buildings it makes no difference . . . Aladino's next major task will be . . . ? Maya there are also people with major musical goals . . . You both have enough to be going on with . . . at the moment.
Aloooominummmm.... sigh.... Beautiful song from 16:50. The singer/songwriter/composer is so good at creating atmosphere. Loved it! If it's you, Maya, I'm falling into fandom! 21:00 reminds me of Boz Scaggs. Both songs going straight to my heart! And thematically related!
The Aqua Drive Torsional Dampening CV might just be the cats meow. I've never experienced anything like it. I suspect polyurethane rubber would ideal. That said, building, rebuilding, repairing should be easy enough too. The engine thrust bearings last a long time when the thrust is limited to a few hundred pounds and an occasional few thousand but the sailboat prop is pushing a heap of mass through a heap of mass without relief, a constant heavy thrust loading. The Aqua Drive thrust bearing is huge like a semi truck axle bearing easily handling six tons of force constantly and easily withstanding twenty tons of load. Good stuff me thinx. Now that I've seen it; I can scratch build the entire system ( Less than 100KW / 5-6 Tons) for under two hundred USD perfectly 😊 Very nice! Seriously, electrical tape wrapping the drive shaft would achieve closer tolerances than most any roller or round bearing system B.
What a luxury to have an engineer on the team! Fascinating to see the shaft alignment process and jig. Curious why you chose aluminum, with potential galvanic corrosion issues, over g10 for the thrust bulkhead. I imagine it was cost, strength or both.
Hi Guys I have been enjoying your channel now for over a year. Thank fo producing such great stuff. I have never heard you mention a boat heater and was wondering if you plan on installing one.
not trying to tell ya what to do , just a thought , those curved skirts you made for the cockpit in my humble opinion would look great darker if not jet black , from the top its still reminds me of a violin shape . like i said just a thought. love you guys , take care playin in the snow
I’m a boat owner with 50yrs+ experience. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone approach problem solving with more diligence than Aladino. It’s like watching a surgeon at work; truly inspiring. His calmness is also rare. 🙏
I agree a true professional
“All in good time..” - what a perfect choice of music. Good on the two of you for your persistence. Remember, it’s the journey not the destination.
It's an honor to watch such amazing craftsmanship (and craftswomanship too) for this project. I've never seen anyone take such care with everything.
Found the aqua drive bulkhead setup and shaft alignment to be fascinating. Working with precision instruments in tight quarters with bulky equipment is not a simple task. Chalk up another pristine task performed and presented so anyone can understand.
Maya, I really like the semi-gloss varnish that you used on some of the interior surfaces. Seems to provide a good balance in wood tones.
Such fantastic progress and work ethic, snow, snow what 😉 I’ll work inside instead 👍. Much love from the senior confessor, England.
Outstanding work, you two! This is really moving along; fingers crossed that you get everything needed to be completed in time for the location!
Thanks Aladino. For three years we have tried to replace our gunwale. We didn't want to drill into our boat. We got the stickon studs...amazing! We completed it. Not to Aladino quality but they are up and there...

that jig and dial gauge set up was genius.
The music was especially spot-on and fun this week!
The video thumbnail looks great! Toerail coming on, handrail on the rooftop. The cream kiwigrip and bronze hardware around the windows. Classical elegance!
Loved Brian's shaft centering gizmo - clever dude.
Wow! She is so stunningly beautiful! Inside and out!
You have a masterpiece windship manifesting due to the excellence of your ability to do this wonder full refit. Highest Blessings

Hello - we did actually do a very in depth look at how the kiwi grip is applied two episodes ago. I didn’t want this to be redundant :)
@@SailingMagicCarpet Sorry Maya, missed that one. I will have a look!!
😱 Oh WOW, that was quite a lot of snow and not a welcome surprise.

I miss Maya playing also! It was what caught my "ear" when I was first looking through the videos. I then binge watched to catch up. Wonderful!!!!
Wow. The resulting precision and beauty that comes out two detailed people working together…it’s breathtaking.

Seeing the two of you working bum to bum in the cockpit without conflict. Must be love🤟
This video shows to all of us that you're doing a fantastic job with the progress of the rebuild. It will soon be finished.

Good call refinishing the ceiling. Much better than doing half the job. Life in a tent is not the same as life in a building.
Nice one. Very interesting how you installed this system at the drive shaft. And I particularly enjoyed your little cockpit dance when you applied the kiwi grip together. Perfect coordination 😂👍
Just wanted to say great job. You definitely got a beautiful boat, and I love to listen to the music. It is wonderful

The ceiling is stunning.
No nonsense episode. Very pragmatic, very understandable, still entertaining. Thanks for keeping us involved even during the stressful push.
Wonderful music so delightful so delightful! You have created a very well, balanced, thoroughly enjoyable channel, bravo!

really beautiful music @18:00
That shaft jig was an ingenious idea…. Raves to Mayas father!
Flexibility is the key and you guys pivoted in a great way! I see lots of lemonade in your future!
Nice work on the shaft centering. I often used a flat tip on the dial indicator to avoid worrying about error induced by not being on the high spot of the shaft. Starrett sells a set of different tips for indicators if you use an indicator a lot. Nice adjustment fixture!
Again so much progress! Keep the faith guys, the end of the beginning is getting closer!
Keep up the adventure!!

I'm excited to see you guys back on the water. I love your music Maya. I've been listening to it on TH-cam Music.
So satisfying to see the deck coming together, well done.💖🥂
Cheer on for sure. Great job, thanks for sharing :)
I live in Alberta and remember wondering how Magic Carpet was doing when that storm blew thru. Glad to see everything worked out well! And, as always, beautiful work!
That was a very satisfying time-lapse.
A great design for the Engine compartment. I loved the video and sorry about the Snow.
Great job with the shaft alignment! Thinking it thru. Lots accomplished even if mother nature didn't cooperate!
I’m not used to seeing snow at sea level. The snow looks beautiful.
Brilliant fit of music! Good luck guys!)
Your boat really sparkles. Best wishes from Montana !

For that metal bracket for shaft, consider to design an detachable alignment tool.
Sailboat is looking beautiful 💖🤗⛵🐬
That ship ends up being the most beautiful in the world...

Beautiful interior work and the Kiwi-Grip came out excellent. I've always had a hard time doing non-skid. I'm gonna have to use the Kiwi next project.
Looking great, lots of progress
Looks incredible. My Friday fix.
As watching from Austria it‘s my Saturday fix!😂😂😂
The cream KiwiGrip's looking great now you're getting the decks done as well as the coachroof... hopefully glad you chose that over the white?
Leave it to the Canadian to spring into action when the snow happens.
Great job, thanks for update and great editing.
Spectacular boat, spectacular work.
We applied cream Kiwi Grip on our Cabo Rico 42. Love it
Keep up the good work! Everything is looking great.
Bravo, Dynamic Duo! 👏🤩

What excellent work always from the boat to the videos showing the work. Shh you are not supposed to say we get snow
The Kiwi Grip looks great.
Always so beautiful
Great job! Home stretch
Goin' Great!

Love love love the cream
Hi Guys I have been enjoying your channel now for over a year. Thank fo producing such great stuff. I have never heard you mention a boat heater and was wondering if you plan on installing one.
Even the fibreglass is good looking 😮
Looks very cold.
I did something similar on my shaft except I machined a bushing that slid on shaft and pressed into the tube centering the shaft in the tube
Greuzi! Earl Scrugs, Doc Watson, etc. please.
Awesome guys!!!
Some big steps forward 😎
Nice work.
The big question is does Maya like the snow?
not trying to tell ya what to do , just a thought , those curved skirts you made for the cockpit in my humble opinion would look great darker if not jet black , from the top its still reminds me of a violin shape . like i said just a thought. love you guys , take care playin in the snow
