30 years ago I gave a homeless 20 German Mark and my Dad was angry with me....His words, he have to find a work. That made me sad. We are all humans and we didn't know what happened to the persons
Great images... I remember sitting round the dinner table listening to this when I was little, this was in the charts I think. Many touch on homelessness and hunger, loneliness also. I just want you to know that I'm out in this world and I love you, very much. You are never alone. Look within you, see the love you have to give and give your heart a hug. The world can tell us we are lonely and need love but we have it always within us. Beautiful Blessings & Perfect Love .... Heart2Heart 🕊️ ✨💛🤲🏻💛✨
Consider yourself fourtunate.I was homeless for a couple of years and it was the most stressfull time (and humilating) in my life.Thankfully i've now got a home.

in the year of 1977 i came to london with my mom, she taught me this song, becouse she loved it. she is no more with us but this song remembers me on her and her love on london. anytime i hear this song i cry, couse i remember her
Have you seen the old man In the closed down market Kicking up the papers With his worn out shoes? In his eyes, you see no pride Hand held loosely at his side Yesterday's paper Telling yesterday's news So, how can you tell me you're lonely And say for you that the sun don't shine? Let me take you by the hand And lead you through the streets of London Show you something to make you change your mind Have you seen the old girl Who walks the streets of London Dirt in her hair And her clothes in rags? She's no time for talking She just keeps right on walking Carrying her home In two carrier bags So, how can you tell me you're lonely And say for you that the sun don't shine? Let me take you by the hand And lead you through the streets of London Show you something to make you change your mind In the all night cafe At a quarter past eleven Same old man Sitting there on his own Looking at the world Over the rim of his tea cup Each tea lasts an hour And he wanders home alone So, how can you tell me you're lonely? Don't say for you that the sun don't shine Let me take you by the hand And lead you through the streets of London Show you something to make you change your mind Have you seen the old man Outside the seaman's mission Memory fading with The medal ribbons that he wears? In our winter city The rain cries a little pity For one more forgotten hero And a world that doesn't care So, how can you tell me you're lonely And say for you that the sun don't shine? Let me take you by the hand And lead you through the streets of London I'll show you something to make you change your mind
Great that you have put tjhe lyrics up and yet you have used the often misheard lyric 'Hand held loosely at his side' . When you think about it, everyones hands are held loosely at our sides and so has no relevance or meaning. The lyrics are actually 'And held loosely at his side, yesterdays paper telling yesterdays news, emphasising that he only has yesterdays paper and he's descriptively holding it loosely at his side. Hope you dont mind the heads up on this incase you ever sing it in public x
There is this old teach in my school it’s a small school and every year the day before Christmas break in the talent show he sings this song he has done this for many years now it has become a tradition this great teacher is DOCTOR SOLOMON
I remember that we used to sing this in folk singing at school.. (the Ralph McTell version) that was nearly 50 years ago and I think that it made me a more empathic person. Life is sh*te then we all die.. you are not all that matters.. You are part of a bigger picture and if you don't see that then I pity you.. Stay blessed, people 🤔😘😉😜
we had this playing as we committed my great grandmother during her cremation yesterday. Reminded us all of how much she loved growing up in London. Couldn't have given her a better goodbye.

So a friend tells you he feels lonely and depressed. Instead of trying to listen and understand why, you simply dismiss his feelings, act moraly superior. You take him to look at poor people. Not to help them, but just to feel better about your own life?
While I appreciate the message and its truly beautiful. But even though I’m surrounded by people I am incredibly lonely and low, I know people have got things much worse than me and I should be great for what I have but honestly I’m done with life and some days it feels like it would be easier if I wasn’t here
Carry on! If it helps you to listen to music, you can try "When I am gone" by Phil Ochs or "Wonderboy" by the Kinks, they may be helpful in your situation. Maybe you can also try to get a hobby, maybe play some instrument?

So, let us see what the Lord say’s what we can do for the poor people in the world. We can find it in the last chapter of the last book of the old testament, in Maleachi 3:6-12. And, is there one church in the world who do this? Yes!
I think they would prefer food water and shelter, there are people that worship God that are homeless starving and poor, praying will not help , helping will help though. A kind thought will never feed or cloth them, but a kind gesture of good drink or such like will do far more than a prayer

❤❤❤Don't know why but this song has always been a favourite of mine. Too many people just don't care. Love this ❤❤❤
Most people do not care. I am often ashamed of being a human. I feel other peoples and animals pain and sorrow and it hurts me.

I think most people do care but are also scared of becoming homeless it could happen to anyone. we don't want to be reminded
You care about your fellow man.
Perhaps the odd A.R.K. (Act of Random Kindness) now and again would help to lift your spirits?
@@eallawson7601Pay it forward. Absolutely. Your comment is brilliant.

I have always had empathy for the homeless and the lonely, because I used to be one of them. So much tragedy in life.
It's the same here in Australia, I really feel the homeless. I always give donations because I'm glad I am not in that situation

You are someone attuned to the needs of those less fortunate than yourself. People I found few and far between in my youth.
You're a good soul Debbie. Empathy and (action) when it's feasible can only uplift us all.
It`s so true, even after all those years. More than ever.
