WoW Louise. What a great recipe. This was the first time I ever used the air fryer. They turned out great. I cooked them at 350 for 20 minutes. Now I wish I had made a bigger batch.
That’s a great idea! Cornstarch makes air frying chicken wings nice and crisp, so why not sweet potato fries. I’m going to get a couple sweet potatoes today. Thanks!💕
THANK YOU!!! Tried this tonight with white potato wedges that I had soaked & dried. Everything else was the same. For the first time, they were crispy! We loved them. When my daughter comes over, we'll do it again with the sweet potatoes.
omg i literally had to google to find you and subscribe bc i watched one air fryer video a while ago and just the way you spoke and explained things was the best. finally someone that explains without making me feel dumb 😭
Corn starch also makes the most amazing and crunchy roast potatoes, my daughter made me a roast dinner yesterday, and put a teaspoon of corn starch into the drained potatoes before putting them into the oil, they were the best I’ve ever had in my 71 years! I imagine you could do that with ordinary fries.
Hi from Southern California, new subscriber after watching just a few minutes. I love your speaking style and the explanations. I'm new to air frying and want to do more than air fry frozen french fries and hot dogs. It's going to be fun learning with you...
I'll have to try this! I have an air fryer with a rotating basket on a spit, so you can fry a lot more volume at once and don't have to flip anything since it does it all for you. I'd definitely recommend that feature if someone is looking to buy an air fryer.
I do a wings recipe that is keto and the secret ingredient is baking powder (DO NOT use baking soda). They crisp up in the oven and are so good. Just got my air fryer and learning to use it. I do eat keto whenever possible hubby is diabetic and on a low carb. diet.. wanted to learn to use sweet potatoes. Thank you for your help...
If you air fry them half done and let them set and cool then finish air frying them would that make them more crispy, because the moisture would steam off ? Great idea with the cornstarch. I'll try that one regular fries.
I haven't tried that, but it makes perfect sense. Just make sure you cook them long enough to start to crisp up. I'd start with going 3/4 of the way done and see how that works.
I’ve made several of your recipes and love them! I started as a ninja newbie with your videos. My only epic fail was your cheesy hamburger rice. Apparently my rice wasn’t parboiled. Oops…it cooked, but barely, so I added more liquid. Then I learned that when you say air crisp that’s air fry, not steam and crisp. Oops…more liquid loss which I stopped after the kitchen was becoming a sauna. With rescues it still tasted good (minus the layer glued to the bottom of the pan). You’re my kitchen hero! 😎
My favorite local diner restaurant serves sweet and sharp hash browns. They melt sharp cheddar cheese on top and I bet that would be super good with these, melt sharp cheese and make a dip- yummmm
I’m just surprised you didn’t use your ninja foodie XL grill so that you have a much larger pan. I’m going to try this recipe thank you so much for the tip
I've only had my Ninja for a few weeks. I used to cook whole roasted sweet potatoes in the conventional oven, and they were only okay, like you say, a bit floppy. So I thought I'd give it a try in my Ninja.....wow! Literally just rubbed a small amount of oil around them and set Ninja on air crisp and they were lovely. I had no idea how long to cook them for, but they were only small, so I guessed. Will be trying these! Great idea for batch cooking.
I have and I like it for certain things. I did just try to use it as an airfryer and wasn't too pleased, but it could have been that I had the rack too low. We have a Facebook group for it if you are on FB and want to join, here is the link: facebook.com/groups/ninjaspeedi
It came with one of my older Ninja Foodi models, but you can get them on the Ninja website. Just make sure you get one that is the right size. I'm happy to link to correct one if you can tell me how many quarts your Ninja Foodi is. If you have a different appliance, then I'm not sure about the fit.
I am going to run my first attempt at this, hopefully, today. I think I will you the NFGG 7n1 because of the size and shape of the AF basket. Will let you know outcome via FB group post. :)
Thanks I have a batch cut up in the fridge and was racking my brain how to get them crispy before air frying another whimmp batch. Thanks I'd heard of cornstarch for chicken. You are oh so pretty pretty you remind me of a beautiful inside and out friend co worker of mine in the Atlanta area- Candy, aeons ago she was simply Beautiful.
I haven't tried it that way so I'm not sure how it would affect the texture, but since the skin is so thin I would think it would work out okay. Let me know if you try it!

Oh my goodness! These were perfect! I added freshly grated Parmesan to the starch- heavenly and so so crispy! Thank you!!

Please let me know how they turn out for you! I was pretty excited at how good they are and I hope everyone else has the same outcome!

Yay!! you finally got around to doing a video about it.... Thanks I contacted you some time ago about these... I cant wait to give them a go......
It took me forever, but I think you'll like them!

I had no idea, but now it will be crunchy deliciousness! Thank you. I love the crunchy, this will get me back to my Nija fry making. 😋
Hope you enjoy them!

looks delicious
hey Louise & Jeff have a great day
Thank you and you have a great day as well!
Loved the stream and the fries.
Hoping for you recommend soaking a white potato before air frying? Thank you for your channel! I learn so much from you!!
Yes, you do need to soak white potatoes when making homemade fries. I'm glad you are finding the videos helpful!
@@TheSaltedPepper I'm sorry, my previous question should have said how long should I soak the white potato before air frying? Thanks again!
@@user-vf8pw3om2w usually auto least 30 minutes.

Thank you for these. Could you point me in the right direction for your playlist with recipes from this air fryer?
I’m just surprised you didn’t use your ninja foodie XL grill so that you have a much larger pan. I’m going to try this recipe thank you so much for the tip
I definitely could have!
Thanks so much! Now I know what to do with the one sweet potato I have! But I’m going to use xantham gum instead since I don’t have cornstarch. 🥰
Let me know if that works!
@@TheSaltedPepper coming from me, not really because you’re the chef! 😉🤗. The narrow ones got crispy though

Hi Louise have you received the new foodi speedi?if you have I would love to know your opinion on it 😉

Can I make regular homemade french fries using this method?
Nope, they are different. Here is the video on how to make them: th-cam.com/video/6qHLW8HmBDo/w-d-xo.html
Thank you! @@TheSaltedPepper
I gave up on doing my own and resorted to frozen shop bought...perfect in airfryer
I hope you give this version a try!
Love your videos
Thank you so much!
Whats alternate to corn starch am allergic to corn
Where do you purchase the air fryer basket that you are using?

@@TheSaltedPepper So nice of you, and I have a Ninja Foodi 6.5 quart. Thanks.

Would baking soda increase the browning color?
Baking soda without an acid to neutralize it will just make them salty and weird tasting in my opinion.
Right. Maybe a little baking powder would do that. It does make wings crispy with the cornstarch
I'm going to buy some sweet potatoes tomorrow to try this!
Hope you enjoy them!
Yummm 😝😝😝😋♥️♥️♥️

😋
she put me in mind of melissa mccarthy, that's well more than 1.5tbs oil
Actually, it isn't. I used about 1 1/2 Tablespoons and probably could have used just 1.
Can we live the skin on?
I haven't tried it that way so I'm not sure how it would affect the texture, but since the skin is so thin I would think it would work out okay. Let me know if you try it!
Louise, forgive me...are these sweet potatoes or yams?
They are sweet potatoes. Yams have a darker skin and white or purple flesh.
