    It's like a minimum wage job, except the employee covers the business expenses. The company takes no risk, no liability. All they have to do its make software. Pure profit at the expense of the employee.

  • @chocolatewheelchair
    @chocolatewheelchair 6 ปีที่แล้ว +155

    Door dash & uber eats is no sustainable for the average person. The gasoline and wear and tear and millage on your car add up and then you have to pay taxes on that small amount of income later. It’s good for some cash if your desperate but it was never a real job to me even when you treat it as one.

    • @BeatTheBush
      @BeatTheBush  6 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Correct. You can deduct the mileage so you are not paying taxes on the full amount of your income from doing it. Estimate about $7-9/hr

    • @jokeing7
      @jokeing7 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      chocolatewheelchair yeah I agree with you it only works for certain people profit margins are generally going to be pretty tight like for me after all factored cost I only start to get into profits at 16+

    Some of the posts here about tax bothers me. My tax guy has told me that my standard deduction for 2018 is $12,000 so unless my mileage and other deduction exceeds $12,000 then I will be better off just filing the standard deduction. The standard deduction is higher for head of household or filing as married. He also advised to use the official IRS 1040-ES forms to check how much tax I would owe and the estimate shows I will have to spend thousands just for it to make significant dent which will only save me couple hundred dollar on tax I have to pay. You guys have to go to the IRS website, the form 1040-ES is FREE. Remember: THERE IS A PENALTY FOR UNDERPAYMENT OF ESTIMATED TAX!
    Edit: The next due date is 9/17/2018, consult with your tax advisor before the due date and pay tax. Don't rely on youtubers because they won't be the one facing the penalty, you will!!!!

    • @BeatTheBush
      @BeatTheBush  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes! That is the coming standard deduction for this year! There are other things at work here because we may get a higher standard deduction, some of the mortgage tax deduction is removed.

    I average around 15 per hour use a car with 100k and live somewhere the cost of living and gas prices are low. I think dd pays around the same in each market as each delivery i do is between 7 and 15 with an occasional huge tip that could net 25 dollars for less than 5 miles. Currently I am debating buying a new car that would double my mpg and grab the 7500 dollar tax rebate. But keep going back and forth good video. But the way I absolutely love making my own hours and no boss so cant put a price on that

      I agree, although if you can do 2-3...maybe 4 per hour if you're lucky, then you can possibly bring in closer to $20/hr. But different circumstances may mess that up. (Food taking a while, trouble parking, longer drive to get to restaurant and/or customer)
      Sometimes you can get an extra $1-4 bonus per delivery if they have that going on.
      Also, it's very easy access. You don't have to apply for a job and hope you get it. And you can do it on your own time.
      But a little is better than zero. Especially if you use it as supplemental income and have some other money generating things going on.
      It also gets your ass off the couch and being productive lol.

    It depends if the location is good and has lots of services. I know a friend who delivers and the store is so busy all the time and pulls 40 deliveries in 12-15hrs. $16-23 an hour sometimes more depending on how generous people are. Would this be good enough for you? He drives a 08 honda civic that's beat up and paid off. Been doing it for 2 or 3 years now. Mainly just replaces tires when needed, oil changes... have little to no problems. If you do this in a high-maintenance car. Yeah, it's not going to work well. He works full time. The miles add up but again, it all works out in the end. In a slow place like this, yeah it's going to suck. $8-10 an hour to do that? I'd rather work at a store that pays that and I don't have to use my car.

    This gives perspective on these kind of services. I think of it as overpriced because I like getting close to free delivery directly from the company.
    You portrayed this well for a third party service and it gives me more sympathy on the reason for the high rates, because it’s a small income for delivery boys. Of course I would still try to get directly from the company first before any other option.
    In Korea, we have something called Shuttle Delivery which is the same kind of thing.
    (If I lived back in the US I would also be happy to pay 8 bucks for a delivery from you!)

    I do food delivery too Doordash and also used to make six figures. I have put 10k miles on my poor Mercedes and now I need brakes rotors 500, and service A 200. Bummer. So I agree it is about 6-7 a hour and I have made about 450 a week or 500 but had to work like 70 hours. But it's easy and I got burnt out on sales job. Someone in my fb group dd figured it's 6.71 per hour

    I gross $100k a week driving for Uber/Ubereats, Lyft, Grubhub, Doordash, Postmates, Hopskipdrive, Eaze, Amazon Flex, Caviar, Instacart, Roadie, Deliv, and in my free time, I turn to Wag and Rover. My weekly expenses:
    $50k cocaine
    $12k gas
    $15k traffic tickets
    $20k car maintenance (oil changes, new tires, brakes, ect.)
    $2.5k shoes

    Love you man, perfect calculations, DOODASH= $8.00/Hour, minus all mentioned, if you own a truck.. forget it, you be minus in it all, example 3.5 hours = $26.45, minus gas, = minus $24.00 give and take. Not worth it, DOORDASH steals your tips too.

    I wish I could do one delivery a week. I find it so stupid that they want you to do multiple deliveries, same with Uber etc. Why can't I do it whenever I want. Like say I am already at Taco Bell eating lunch and see that someone needs food brought to them. I wish I could do just that one order. Think about it, if you did 56 deliveries a year that would add up to $500 bucks. Same with Uber. I have a niceish car. I wouldn't mind giving someone a ride every now and then, but you gotta pay up a little. I am not looking for a job. But I wouldn't be opposed to making a few extra bucks if it were convenient enough. Heck maybe I am already going into town, that would be the perfect time to give someone a ride.

    Great video! I would love videos like that in the UK. Not the usual rubbish "Earn a fortune working 2 hours from home"... Not that. Real stuff like Beat The Bush. Oh Yeah! Now, question, do you think it would be better to use a motorbike rather than a car? Would it make you save time and money?

    With these type of jobs, are they independently contracted to where you need to be responsible for taking out your own taxes each pay? With that being asked, could you tell me what percent I would need to put aside on any paycheck where I would do 1099 at tax time? Working from home and want to make sure I put aside the right percentage per paycheck for tax time. Was hoping you could give me advice on this.

    I work for 3 different delivery apps compatision is good for drivers to make more money. also i do all my car work myself so that cost is low i can do my own oil change for around $20 every 2 months. also if you buy a used for for lets say $2000 you can actually make decent money. so meny people buying new cars and some citys force you to buy a newer car then its a rip off and not worth it

    Door dash and other food app deliveries are a scam! They don’t pay you in gas. I’m a delivery driver at a pizza chain. For my pizza job I get paid 1.50 per delivery plus an hourly 10.50 pay plus tip money. On average I make 18 dollars an hour. I do live near a rich area also so that’s a factor. Door dash has no hourly also. Go work at a dominos or papa johns if you want decent money for delivery services depending on your area

    • @BeatTheBush
      @BeatTheBush  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      People are desperate and will do these jobs sometimes. Because people will do it, this may make a pizza delivery job obsolete. I think this is a terrible deal for those who does it so making people aware that it does not earn much may make people not work in it as much. Think Taxi cab drivers vs. Uber. This is roughly the same.
