If you take your door lines and set them to leneth and shackle them to a single line it will keep your lines even on set. Just make sure to shorten your lines to adjust for the length of the lead. You can run a chain, line, or cable from cleat to cleat with a set point in the middle to hook the lead line to.
Hey Trip I'm from Panama City, FL and I grew up shrimping along the gulf coast and out of Port St Joe, FL. I think you did a pretty darn good job at trawling lol, we get in hangers all the time and you never know what you'll pull up. One time we were trawling near an Air Force base where they did a lot of training and caught a military backpack with a compass, pocket knife and a bunch of other cool stuff lol. Shrimping is really hard labor though but nothing beats being out on the water and eating fresh seafood everyday! I hope that you can do more of these trawling catch and cook vidoes in the future! I really enjoyed it! Have a great day and be safe out there!
It was great meeting you Trip. I hope you were able to get off the water before that weather it. We weren’t so lucky. I didn’t get much sleep anchored out around Fort Pickens. It was a long night of strong winds rain, lightning and tornados not too far down from us in Pensacola. We were able to make it back to the landing when the weather broke the next morning.
You always pick your net up with the boat going downwind brother. That keeps the net behind you and the boat moving away from it. The last drag your tickle chain was wrapped up. You put you net out going downwind as well.
That’s a mantis shrimp, also you can leave the boards and chain in the water if you tie a rope to your main knot and pull the tail of the net out to empty the catch.
Exactly it’s called a lazy line. Also it’s easier to leave the boat in gear and just slowly circle while you pull the lazy line in. He was definitely doing it the hard way but he’ll get it figured out.
i had to do that solo in my trailer sailor and i had a boat hook with a loop of rope down the handle so i could lasssoo a cleat and take strain of boat -then hop to jetty and secure lines all alone, people used to applaud sometimes.
Yes. Do the launch and retrieve solo vid. I do the same thing and I'm interested in any other methods I can pick up on. I'll probably be adding more comments as I get further in. Great video. Thanks.
26:58 it's a Mantis shrimp pack the strongest punch of any creature in the animal kingdom. Their club-like appendages accelerate faster than a bullet out of a gun and just one strike can knock the arm off a crab or break through a snail shell. These small but mighty crustaceans have been known to take on octopus and win.
Wire in a simple dual pole relay that will have the normally closed when your key is off to the power bank, use the normally open when the key is on. This will make it hands off when running the boat. I used this set up for my bilge fans so I don't forget to turn them on
Great idea! I might have to give that a try. Good reason to be on a moving boat. Glad you mentioned the registration I’m not the best at keeping those around.
That's a Mantis Shrimp. Invasive Species can get up to a footlong and a lb. In Asia they grow huge and are Called Toe Poppers because of their ability to exert tremendous force with their front feet. They can thump a Crab and bust His Shell and eat it...They are delicious to eat Grilled on the half shell...
It can't get any more Forrest Gump than that. Alabama man goes shrimping in a hurricane and catches not much. Even had another shrimping boat in distress.
I've been taping my mouth shut now for nearly 2 years, or maybe it's coming up on 3 years? There are some real benefits to it. I made a quick video about it here - th-cam.com/video/2gT7NJE3bWA/w-d-xo.html
That critter you tossed back was a mantis shrimp. They also go by thumb splitters. Pound for pound champs right there. 🥊
Trip my kids were like..... Wait he actually caught something? Haha! Love you man. 🐟🐟🐟
Solo Launch/retrieval vid would be great Trip!

Definitely do a launch/retrieve video AND maybe what NOT to do at the ramp and clog up boat traffic. Good stuff Trip as always

Yeah dude let's see that launch/retrieve vid. Especially cuz I'm thinking I want to own that same boat!

Solo boat launch video would be nice for someone who's only launched kayaks solo😉!
That's true!
Solo launch video is a great idea, just be sure to do one below a dam, where there's PLENTY of current....It's way more fun that way!
Maybe shoot at 2 spot. One without current and one with. Plus tips on what to look for on google maps.
i had to do that solo in my trailer sailor and i had a boat hook with a loop of rope down the handle so i could lasssoo a cleat and take strain of boat -then hop to jetty and secure lines all alone, people used to applaud sometimes.

Thanks.
Would like to see a vid on launching and retrieving a boat solo. Thanks
My first premier with live chat.had a good time will keep my eyes open for the next one awesome adventure 👍
Trip!!!!
You better be careful picking up those mantis/pistol shrimp (the critter you through back after the crab)! They can jack you up.

There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That- that's about it.

great adventure Trip,i bet those shrimp were delicious, thanks for sharing!
Bama girl here! Alabama is the home of the beautiful!!!
I'm right outside Montgomery.
Dang right it is! I'm down in Dothan....
I love your content brother. I'd love to see you do a kayak through the old part of little River Canyon up in North Alabama.
Great idea! I might have to give that a try. Good reason to be on a moving boat. Glad you mentioned the registration I’m not the best at keeping those around.

hurray....shrimp city....lol...that small crab would have made good bait
Great stuff mate. Some nice prawns there and not a bad effort for your first attempt. Still watching from Western Australia 🇦🇺 👍🍺
Trip Shrimp!!! Another great adventure
I had to go to Publix and get a pound of fresh shrimp after the live yesterday
Anytime I jump in like that and try to just sit and enjoy, big-bull-shark starts running through my mind and I always cut it short haha
Small mantis shrimp nice. Glad it didn't punch ya....
Love your adventures brother. If my health improves, no, WHEN my health improves you’ve inspired me to do the same!
Great video! again.
You’re the man Trip!
It's easier to pull to if you pull from 1 point like a bridle. Also, uiu always wants to "tack" to keep your net from filling up neither prop wash
You may just need to move on down to Baldwin County bro, you seem to stay over here ! Thanks for sharing!
You could make a living down in south Florida launching Boats !
Rig up some temporary outriggers next time, I’d be interested to see if that helps. That’s an awesome first run
Man this is awesome!! I didnt know you could get nets for smaller boats. I wonder if i could do with on Florida gulf coast?
Yeah, I suck at launching and retrieving solo - could use any tips (and a lot of practice).
I love trippppp
27:00 that is a mantis shrimp they will mess you up man, you're lucky it didn't lay you open.
I have since learned that.... I guess I got lucky!
that was a mantis shrimp, they are delicious but they will mess you up with those front arms so be careful with them
You need to invest in some power poles, no deeper than you anchor.
Yea..... Couldn't trust them over right though. Probably just need a windlass
Trip you are too many. "Let go of my shrimp buddy!"
Have you looked at the “nova go”travel guitar ??
Shrimp diiiip!
Mantis shrimp good eating
It can't get any more Forrest Gump than that. Alabama man goes shrimping in a hurricane and catches not much. Even had another shrimping boat in distress.
4:53 Bro, are those high heels? Plzzzz throw those flip flops AWAY yesterday.
When you coming to Steinhatchee?
Tomorrow..... Passing through. Hit me up on Instagram

Shrimpim’ ain’t easy
BROOOOOOO, did I see you at Wild Adventures in Valdosta last weekend?! I'm almost positive it was you, but didn't want to ask and be wrong. 🤣
Yes you did. You should have said something!
@@TripSmith Dang! Lol I thought it was. Hope you guys had a good time. 🤙🏼
That is a mantis shrimp. Good eating, but they will stick you hard. Be careful if you get one alive
26:57 thats a mantis shrimp
Yea I have since learned that.... Also that it could have hurt me pretty good lol
@@TripSmith yeah they can have a pretty nasty punch
How do you keep the mosquitos out at night?
Where can I buy a net like that
Mullet time!!
I thought it was a sain net in the thumbnail.
Hey trip, I’ve been a long time viewer and have been wondering what size shaft is in that 115
The one was a mantis shrimp
You caught a Mantis shrimp.
I have since learned that they are some tough little things....
Collab with vanderbaans wildlife please help teach you how to fish! He said he’s down to collab!!
Hits one button

Hey maybe you could send me the Crab trap I have one of them thinking about purchasing another.
Sea lice
What's up with the tape on the mouth when you sleep or what?
Why do you beat on crabs so bad?
Just trying get them to release their grip so I can set them free.
Why did he have his mouth taped shut when he woke up? 😅
I've been taping my mouth shut now for nearly 2 years, or maybe it's coming up on 3 years? There are some real benefits to it. I made a quick video about it here - th-cam.com/video/2gT7NJE3bWA/w-d-xo.html
you really need to research how to lay out and retrieve your net gear.
