Nice one this is probably the best ww2 soviet impression I've seen on youtube. Most people don't even bother with a helmet, they just assume the red army soldiers just didnt wear them for some reason.
Alan Noorkoiv Thank you! My impression has evolved quite a lot since this video was posted though. I will be making a new video, of the same showcase, with my current impression.
I don’t know if you still look at comments pockets but this is one of the videos that inspired me to do this hobby. Now I’m perfecting the kit. Thank you.
I look at them from time to time these days. That's awesome to hear! I'm glad the video helped inspire you to get into the hobby. It was similar videos like mine from others that inspired me as well. Considering you said you are perfecting the kit now, I assume you are quite far along in completing it. How's it looking?
Pockets215 it’s looking good. I consider 1943 to be done as well as 1942. Right now I’m working on 1939. If you have it my Instagram in tuxedo25_ And I run a reenactor channel called Redarmy1943
Are postwar Telogreikas allowed? Isn't that a post war one? I mean I would assume that post war telogreika would be allowed in reenactments because WWII ones are darn near impossible to find......
They had food dipshit. Stop trying to portray the USSR as being starved all the time. Even with food shortages, you need to take into account it’s during wartime and they were being invaded by Germans, meaning all their crops were being burned up and civilians being massacred by said Germans. After the war, the USSR’s average caloric intake was similar to the US.
if you ever do it is a great event I actually met a unit there that is local. I will be doing a Russian 9th Airborne Impression hopefully we can meet someday at that reenactment
Where did you get all of this gear? Im looking maybe for a few items to wear when I go out on the firing range with my Mosin Nagant 91/30 rifle. But I cant find much on ebay of pants and tunics.
Nah not yet.. I've been gathering materials. I found original linen canvas, original thread, hardware, etc. It's gonna be hard! I also bought a crappy original breadbag to take apart and make patterns.
Hello. Ive been wanting for awhile to gather all the necessary equipment to fashion myself a Soviet WWII uniform to go with my Mosin-Nagant. Did you buy all your equipment at once? And where would you recommend buying from?
it's very good but the water bottle will need replacing. Who made your ammo pouches? they're the right pattern, just they look way too big! the ammo clips should be a very tight fit. also your gymnastiorka looks a little on the big side, you may need a smaller one (that fits!), you must wear it correctly, pulled down and pleated at the back - so it's nice and tidy! they were trained to appear very neat and tidy, even in the field! your collar liner needs to be visible above the collar by 2mm
hey man, sweet vid! and what are some sites where i could find some nice authentic soviet gear and equipment?? im tryin to find somethin to hold my ak mags and im just not havin any luck anywhere:/ if you could, please make a video with any information you might have on where to find some! thanx and keep up on makin vids
channel name is WilhellmProductions had to spell it wrong cause youtube wouldn't let me spell it right without using a name. Haven't uploaded anything yet because i'm busy with a ww1 trench moc and finishing the last of the N. koreans but videos are coming. Started work on a soviet decal last night it'll be a bit before it is finished tho as i just finished the front side.
yeah, i started a business out of making customs, Russian stuff is hard to make and brickarms makes the helmets and guns so all i have to do is make a decal. It takes hours to get a good one, i'll try this one but i try to put every detail like folds, crests, pockets and bags and stuff so it will defiantly take me hours. I can already tell the backpacks going to be hard to do. I made a channel just for my customs and other lego stuff. Just finished some Korean war N.Koreans.
Aren't those pouches mean to represent the early war production when there was still backpacks like M/36 and M/40 ( still that doesnt mean you couldnt use them with mid war impression ). Is that canteen the exact same as WWII type? I removed the chain and sandpainted it to make it look more authentic. Btw, where did you get the pipe and cooking pot?
LynxRider1 It's the M40 (SSh40) for sure. I have an SSh68 and it has a stupid angle in front that makes it look like a freaking chinese hat :/ . I like how the SSh39 and SSh40 front sides are more vertical!
I am curious because I have the same year as well. I just started reenactment. Has anyone ever said anything about your telogreika not being from war era? I really fear someone will say something about this when I do my first reenactment....
Railroad Engineer No no one ever has, no one ever will because 99 percent of reenactors use the exact 60s telogreika. They almost exactly the same. Just a couple very minor details that are differnt from originals. same pattern and are easily available. Plus real 1960s versions are still the real deal, while repros aren't as warm. You can however you can modify your telogrieka some by fading the colors out, ( I put a bit of bleach in the wash with mine so it lightened the color up some) or by removing the pocket on the telogrieka pants. Pretty sure the originals didnt have those. Also, if you go to your first reenactment and people give you shit for not being exact then they are assholes and you shouldn't worry what they think. I wasnt completely correct when I started, but the guys in my unit helped me better my impression after I started being active in the club.
Pockets215 That's what I gathered with my telogreika. It was just I noticed that the originals were the same patterns, but with mines it was like a dark olive brown, and I've always seen them to be lighter then usual. I was thinking the same thing about reproductions that they wouldn't be as warm, unless they used the same materials for the time period which probably not many would do because of supply and demand of materials, and people ordering them. Makes more sense to get the real thing since it's already made and cheaper so time isn't taken up to do the labor on making a reproduction. I have been consulting with my division for awhile, and they suggested Schuster's and that's what I ordered. My getting a lot of backlash on my original uniform for being bad quality, and I regret getting the ones that I did. I did make a mistake not once but twice with my boots as the soles were wrong on the high boots, I wind up getting post war Kirza which is totally different from the war period boots, slightly higher then post war. Sometimes ebay seller will deceive people saying it's the WWII type when it isn't. So I now have three boots, two of them I cannot use for reenactment. But other then that, I should be ready for Haydenville in the next few weeks. I must've spent $800 on equipment. I am hoping that it is all worth it. I do have a sponsor to get a couple more things then my infantry kit should be finished.
Sounds like you pretty much all set then. Sorry to hear about the boots, thats shitty. You can probably sell them though or just keep them around as extra in case a friend wants to join with you at an event. Schuster is certainly the place for top notch quality gear but they are expensive. Voenspec is where i got some of my stuff and I think their stuff is all schuster stuff anyways, at least thats what Ive been told. Plus I think they are a little cheaper. When you say original uniform, do you mean original post war, like a 1960s m43 uniform?
one more thing...wear your belt a little tighter and higher up - around your waist (2cm above your belly button) and not on your hips, wearing a belt around your hips is a very modern fashion
Nice one this is probably the best ww2 soviet impression I've seen on youtube. Most people don't even bother with a helmet, they just assume the red army soldiers just didnt wear them for some reason.
Some would throw away helmet because they believed it was for cowards, but they were issued.
Very acceptable ensemble, you certainly look the part, well done.
Alan Noorkoiv Thank you! My impression has evolved quite a lot since this video was posted though. I will be making a new video, of the same showcase, with my current impression.
@@Pockets215they were given to everyone, thrown away or demolished, they weighed a little more than a kilogram

pretty accurate, except for there actually being food in the food bag. Think those guys ate alot of tree bark and rocks.
Are postwar Telogreikas allowed? Isn't that a post war one? I mean I would assume that post war telogreika would be allowed in reenactments because WWII ones are darn near impossible to find......

Soviet Soldiers during army have lacked food due to destroyed agriculture and fact they have had over 2 million men, women and children in arms.

chris barsaloux All of it is fairly accurate.
I remember stumbling into video when I was younger, it’s always good to come back and check it out from time to time
Where did you get all this amazing gear?
Very interesting! I live here in Russia 10 years, never knew this was a big thing in the West.
I've been looking for a fair price for a Gymnastiorka for some time now and I am curious as to where you got yours from?
I always store my cookpot in my meshok along with my personal ephemora. Keeps it relatively clean. Just a tip. ;-)
5:54 journey to the center of Stalingrad
How does it cost to you ? (Complete uniform + Mosin + equipement etc) ?
That's cool, Mine is a size 58... Stretched it over a pan but still a bit snug. I'll likely try a size 61 this winter or a repro
Schuster, in terms of quality, authenticity and value - they are by far the best!
Not only am i using this to get my own uniform, i'm using it to make custom decals for my custom lego minifigs. Verry nice uniform
yea, maybe before the war he was a sailor on the black sea and that is where he got the earings.
DUDE. WHERE DID YOU BUT THOSE BOOTS?
I actually think that the facial hair compliments the look nicely, and the ear rings aren't really a negative either.
The helmet is a SSH40, the M40 is a german helmet
Actually no,ssh is abbreviation for "steel helmet" (SHtalnoy SHlem 40)
+Apple Mccartney stalnoy shlem (steel helmet)
M40 = model 40
Ssh40 = basically same thing. The number 40 describes type. Just like in later variants (Ssh-60, Ssh-68, etc)
Absolutely beautiful uniform well done comrade
Your impression is spot on, however, in the late war period a soldier would only have 1 pouch :) otherwise very good
Yeah, there you go. The outfit is perfect now.
if you ever do it is a great event I actually met a unit there that is local. I will be doing a Russian 9th Airborne Impression hopefully we can meet someday at that reenactment
What size Telogreika worked out for you? Is it better to order a little bit bigger?

hello i am starting to get into Russian WW2 reenacting what is the best place to buy from online?
definitely schuster, no one else even comes close to their standard of kit
Where'd you buy that stuff
Hey pockets were you at the rockford reenactment because i think sssoldat1 and i saw you there but we were not sure
Where can i get a m43 great coat like in the video?
Do you like your Nugget?
Hey man! :) How's it hangin? Nice impression! I recently redid my German impression too. Still makin videos like we used to haha?
