Hey guys, thanks for watching! We screwed up a little in the video, so wanted to point out here that the Moto G6 and G6 Plus actually *do* have a front-facing flash, so that whole rant about it not having one - you can just laugh at us a little.
We're a bit bummed that the Moto G6 Plus isn't coming to the U.S. What about you?

Motorola is the best phone company out there when it comes to phone selection it does not matter what of motophoneSeries you choose and they are the best unlocked phones because you can put them on all four major carriers
I am owner of Moto G 2nd Gen, Moto X Pure and Moto Z Play. This new Moto G6 looks great. To the people who are worried about the Snapdragon 450, don't be worried. It is comparable to my Moto Z Play's Snapdragon 625 processor and that is BLAZING FAST. Forget the benchmark scores. It is on par in speed to my iPhone with A9 Chip in my side-by-side test. Also it is awesome with battery efficiency where my iPhone's battery is putrid. The Moto G6 has me hyped up for what Motorola will bring to the Moto Z3 Play which is going to be my next phone.
Moto g was my first phone! I had a whole 512 megs of data to use on republic wireless
I've had my Moto g 2 since 2015 and it's still going, great job.
I have the G6 Play, $99. Good phone. I've never needed or understood paying for flagship phones. This does everything I need and does it we'll. 4000 battery too. My last phone, an E4 plus had a 5000 battery

Was it a lot cheaper than the G7 Play? Over here in Europe its the same price, so people usually pick the G7 Play instead.

I had a Motorola Ultra years ago it was a great phone. Might just be time to come home to the Moto G6 for my next phone.
I have the Moto G5, it's been a really good phone. Almost no complaints at all.
Don't think I'm upgrading yet, tho.
my favorite phone ever was the Droid mini which was a motorola phone. It was incredible I've since upgraded to the S7, the G6, and the S8 and I would do anything to go back to my mini. Unfortunately it's specs are just old now.

Don't be fooled. Yes, the SD 450 and SD 625 both use 8 Cortex A53s on a 14nm process, along with the same GPU, but the 450 has a lower clock speed (1.8 GHz vs 2.0 GHz). You can compare all the specs on Qualcomm's website. It's literally a downgrade.

Over the normal G5 it's a huge upgrade. Also from the G5 Plus, the G6 Plus is a huge upgrade.
I agree. But for some reason these youtubers (or lenovo/motorola) insist that the G6 is an upgrade to the G5s Plus. Probably as an excuse for not bringing the G6 Plus to the US.
Is the 0.2 Ghz downclock going to make a world of a difference? I guess not. And it is an upgrade compared to G5 Plus of all the obvious changes that we can figure out.
Since when in smartphone history does a successor have a slower processor? The G5s plus is a variant of the G5 plus, so it's acceptable for it to have the same processor. But to claim that the G6 is the successor to the G5s plus is ridiculous. Based on the naming itself, the G6 Plus is the successor to the G5s Plus. Based on the processor (source: Qualcomm), the G6 Plus is also the successor to the G5s Plus. The 400 series and 600 series processors are not even in the same tiers. Another interesting fact is that the processor is missing in Motorola's G6 specs sheet, while it's listed in every other one of their smartphones. In the features section it just mentions "1.8 GHz Octa-core processor." Hmm, is it just coincidence that the G6 doesn't mention its processor, or are they purposefully hiding it? Whatever the case, based on logic, the G6 (SD 450) is the successor to the G5 (SD 430), and the G6 Plus (SD 630) is the successor to the G5s Plus (SD 625). I don't know how it can be any more clear than that. My issue is not with any of the devices or pricing. It's with whoever is claiming that the G6 is the successor to the G5s Plus.

I'd rather buy a used LG G6 in mint condition, SD 821, 4 gigs of ram and a much better screen and less bezels with much better camera. And SD 660 was a must for G6+
Btw the G6 is only about 200 on websites like Swappa and eBay and for other countries, Mi Note 5 pro seems like a more lucrative offer

You're getting cleaner software here, so there won't be a big difference in performance, I actually think the g6+ will be smoother, an in my opinion better design, better front facing camera with a flash, portrait mode, updates for a longer period of time bc LG g6 is a year old, face unlock and a bigger battery with a similarly efficient processor= superior battery life + it would be new instead of used so I don't really agree with you here I think the g6+ would be a far better option

Giving Sd 660 a miss was a foolish thing to do for the plus version.
Good comparison especially highlighting that the g6 plus and the x4 are the same. Fingerprint sensor should have been on the back though.

Late May, eh? Bummer. Also, bummer on the G6 Plus not coming to the US. I've been looking at the G5 Plus (not G5S Plus, due to better low-light performance on the single f/1.7 aperture lens, which the G6 Plus seems to have returned to) at Best Buy for $199, but would definitely buy the G6 for $249 instead. That, or a further price reduced G5 Plus, which probably won't happen until after the release of the G6. Oh well, I assume the $249 G6 has 3GB/32GB, so I could get the G5 Plus with 4GB/64GB for that price.
Im facing this same situation too, I can't really decide.
I recently bought the G5+, after much research i found it was the better phone deal. Comparing it to an old Galaxy phone (GS4), The G5+ puts the GS4 to shame. Even with Sammy's extra features, Moto proved a mid range phone can hold its own against bred champions.

This are the 1st Motos after the Lenovo inquisition that I think look beautiful!
The 18:9 aspect ratio makes the phone tall and slimmer and the huge buttom bezels in these phones make it even taller. Thats sth odd and creepy. I'd still buy the G6plus if it came for $250. It doesnt deserve anything more than that considering redmi note 5 pro costs $230 and is a better package.

Faze Hive haha, yeah. My G4+ was annoying the fuck out of me with absolutely no software updates and constant lag. Had enough of the phone and upgraded to an s9+. What a world of difference between the stock android and the Samsung UI. Best decision.
Considering what you paid for the phone why are you surprised? Is having most recent updates worth an extra $600 to you?
Michael Smith of course not. The Samsung UI has so much more to offer than stock android and I really don't care about updates anymore.

I thought this was a review done back in 2015 and these phones looked like they were made during that time.
My favorite features of the G line are scattered through the line of phones... Rear fingerprint sensor, enhanced Moto voice & moto suite, snapdragon 630, 4000 MaH battery, compact body, low-light sensor feature... I'm a Moto fan and live in the U.S. and am willing to spend more than $300 on a phone. I guess Motorola isn't making phones for me. Oh, and R.I.P. Moto X (again).

I'm disgusted that the G6 Plus isn't coming to the U.S. as it has every feature I would want. I don't want the X4 because the lack of RAM/Storage is a problem. I've saw the reviews in how it wasn't as fluid as the G5 or G5S Plus. The 4 and 6GB X4 actually worked better. The logic behind the G6 Plus not making it to the U.S. makes zero sense.
me too.huge bummer. i like big screen phones and 5.7 18:9 (which is about like a 5.4 16:9 in area) aint cutting it. so stupid on motorola's part, they literally arent bring the most interesting model out in the states. really pisses me off. no wonder motorola just laid everybody off, with decisions like these...
and why dont more manufacturers in general target that mid range, 300-400 area (like the Moto G6 Plus would have if it was coming out in the USA)? you either get low end $200 crap or super expensive crap like $800 Samsung's, nothing in between. again, stupid. You could argue One Plus T with the $500, but the one plus 6 will probably cost more and besides, $500 off contract is IMO still very pricey.
Go for the x5 or z3 play. Pay little extra but it is so worth it with it's extra specs and features. Huge fan of the Moto Z play.

James W ... I love my Moto Z play. I get 10 hours screen time over 3 days on 1 charge. Blazing fast. Super AMOLED. NFC for Android pay. Moto mods like thin profile battery mod and jbl mod are great too. I am most likely gonna upgrade to Moto z3 play.

X4 is sold in Brazil and G6 plus too, so they might have another reason not to sell G6 plus in US other than X4 being sold or not.

I really hope they fixed the camera hardware. I have the g5 plus and sometimes I miss great moments whenever I launch the camera and get this message says "error: please restart camera". The moto g4 plus did the same. So I'm gonna give moto one more chance with the camera

If the g6 plus came to the US, I'd buy in a heartbeat for a second phone. Neither of the other two are great options.

Three things to say about these phones: 1) Why the hell do not they put, on all the phones, the fingerprint sensor on the back, that is, on the Motorola logo? 2) Why is Motorola now and not Moto? And if they put that name on it, why do not they place it in the back, Knowing that there is a very good phone with that fingerprint sensor? 3) Thankfully they changed their icon packs, they are much more similar to those of the Pixel, that is, they are more pleasing to the eye. Had two Motos, no more though. Updates are practically non existent. Moved on to the Nokia 6 2018 with monthly updates 😀

The G6+ isn't available in the US? Even though the normal G6 is meant to replace G5+, I'd still rather upgrade to the G6+ instead, and in terms of performance the G6 is actually a downgrade from the G5+ so that's a bummer
Sold my iPhone 8plus and bought an Moto G6. Brilliant phone. I can do more with it than the £800 iPhone.
Any edge Apple had has long gone (with the exception of their policy of taking customer security somewhat more seriously than anyone else).

How is it a budget beast? There are used flagship with the SD821 that beats this thing to a pulp.
Vision33r it's a Snapdragon 636 and you are comparing this thing to a flagship sd 821 then it's a logic that the flagship one will win
That's my point, budget beast is pointless when last year's flagship phones are much better deals than newer budget phones.
Moto is awesome. But updates and camera needs to be refined. It would do well to add the android one programme when the g7 comes out.

Looks cool but judging from what people are saying sounds disappointing. Hopefully the Z3 or X5 exceed expectations.
Very solid mid-rangers, however the Xiaomi Mi A2 is coming very soon, and it seems to be better in pretty much every single way, and actually being something like an upper mid-ranger. The design, where Motorola is actually very distinctive, sort of like Sony is what I like, as well as the Moto gestures, which are the best.
One note to make: all the G6 models should have had the fingerprint sensor on the back, I just don't get how they made that happen for the cheapest of the bunch and put a home button on the more expensive ones. A front fingerprint sensor on a tall phone is not the best way to go. I can't believe ordinary consumers realize these things, and manufacturers don't.
It's still surprising that Motorola haven't launched any phone yet which has tiny bezels.
