  • This is a clip from the Macho Mecca Podcast episode 4. Koko B. Ware shares the infamous story from Paris, France in 1989 when he fought WWF Executive Jim Troy after Troy got in an argument with Shawn Michaels. Koko was fired for the incident by Vince McMahon but got his job back after Hulk Hogan went to Vince on Koko's behalf.
    Koko discusses the details from that night as well as Marty Jannetty being pissed at HBK for not standing up for the business more as Jim Troy disparaged professional wrestling to his face.

    KoKo is one of the forgotten greats that don't get enough credit for his time in WWF(wwe). As a kid I looked forward to him and JYD. I bought I red sports car from a junkyard and named it JYD are him. Koko I'm happy to see you doing great. Thank you for all the childhood memories!

    Koko was great with the fans, a perfect good guy wrestler for the 1980's WWF. He didn't have to pretend to like people, you could see it. That's the problem with today's booking, they're trying to make characters instead of letting the wrestlers be themselves.

      Actually most shoot interviews about Hogan are positive outside of a small few who ironically are troublemakers themselves - Brett, Shawn, etc. The negative narrative about HH only exists in the minds of weirdo fans

    • @D2Kprime
      @D2Kprime ปีที่แล้ว

      Kamala went on record to talk about how Hogan looked out for him in the WWF by letting him know Vince was short-changing him on money. He also stated that he got him a job in WCW after the WWF let him go and when Bischoff fired him, Hogan was going to get _his_ job back, but Kamala turned it down because he felt that if Bischoff didn't see his worth, he didn't want to be there anymore.
      Tony Atlas has also stated on how Hogan looked out for him in the WWF and has always be friendly and cordial.
      Honky Tonk Man talks about how he helped him and Brutus early in their careers, and when they crossed paths in Canada when the WWF was doing some shows in Calgary, Hogan asked why Honky wasn't in the WWF where he could make some big money. Honky told him that no had reached out to him. So, Hogan said he'll fix that, and a day or too later Honky got the call from McMahon to come up to Stamford. He also told Vince to put the IC title on him.
      Hogan help Harlem Heat in WCW. Kept Booker T from losing his job from calling HOGAN the n-word on a live PPV.
      Out of respect to their father and his friendship with him, at the height of the nWo's popularity Hogan jobbed CLEAN to Jacques Rougeau an an event they had in Canada.
      I could go on and on, but there are far more stories of Hogan doing good things than there are of him doing bad things. You can't dismiss the shady stuff he's down, but we ALL have done shady stuff. He shouldn't be held to a higher-standard just because he an entertainer.

    • @doddsino
      @doddsino 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You mean two stories?
      There's the one of him getting attacked by Marines. I should say that the story is largely inaccurate, it was a bunch of rednecks beating up an unconscious Shawn Michaels, going so far as to leaving him hospitalized. These same rednecks also held Davey Boy Smith and Sean Waltman down and beat on them. The number is just an estimate, but there were between 8 and 12 rednecks who assaulted an unconscious man and the two wrestlers he was drinking with, as well as a woman they left the bar with...so not exactly a fair number. These guys also attempted to run over Shawn with an SUV, so it's not as if this was just some little scuffle, so I'm willing to give Shawn the benefit of the doubt. I'm not a Shawn fan, but let's not act like this was fair in any way, especially after reading the police report.
      As far as the story with him and Bret? They apparently fought like two high school girls with Bret ripping out a chunk of Shawn's hair.
      I mean, I know everyone likes to act like Shawn was this contemptuous asshole, and maybe he was...but I think some peoples imaginations run away on them when it comes to what likely otherwise happened.

    • @dakliq420

      Macaws can live up to 80 years, so it's possible. But I seem to recall the original Frankie already died unfortunately.

    If Hogan told this story, I'd call "tommyrot!" on it, but since Koko told it, I will believe it. This is one of the very few times I had respect for Hogan. He doesn't seem all that bad, I guess...

      Koko had nothing but positive things to say about Hulk Hogan as a person and a friend. Take that as you'd like.

      Wait. lol is only 5’4???
      Also Koko is indeed a legend. If for nothing else, he was the vocals with the flagship song on WWF’s debut album PILEDRIVER!!!
      Which was the best song on that album. With Jive Soul Bro being a close 2nd.
