    Your ships are so cool! I used to have a Lego battleship called USS Florida until I decommissioned her in 2022. USS Florida had a Phalanx CIWS, several Anti-aircraft guns and missiles, and a main gun. I have plans to rebuild her since the hull is still complete. (USS Florida 2018-2022)

    1:10 So the Sword-Class has 152mm cannons. Probably not effective against larger vessels. But possibly effective against smaller patrol vessels and maybe large destroyers.
    1:20 The Phantom-Class is equipped with a 76mm cannon. Definitely more suitable for commerce raiding.
    1:35 The Dolphin-Class has 127mm cannons, the caliber along with the larger caliber torpedo tubes, this one suits its purpose of escorting large fleets.
    1:53 I know this one is a carrier, but the Investigator-Class’s secondary armament (the one with duel 5” guns) is 127mms, so it’s going to have to rely on the aircraft to do something.
    2:05 Oof, the Protector-Class is not going to last long against ships with 3”-19” caliber weapons unless they are gonna use their AA guns to protect themselves, maybe the Dolphin-Class ships I mentioned earlier might be the only defense for this ship.
    0:54 The Piranha-Class Patrol boat is decent, with 76mm cannon. And a good amount of torpedos, and in packs, this ship is gonna be a menace.
    0:38 The Vigilance-Class patrol boat is armed with only one 127mm rapid fire cannon, which is effective to small ships and large destroyers, however, if more long range ships with high caliber artillery. This is gonna be smoked.
    2:54 The Vanguard-Class is just a bigger version of the Protector-Class, all air cover, this ship needs some Dolphin-Class Escorts.

      A battleship with strong air cover can decisively control a sea zone, making any attempt to challenge it come at a steep price. This reminds me of the Guadalcanal campaign and the fierce battles in Iron Bottom Sound.

    Reminds me of an old build of my own, HMCS Yellowknife. A (fictional) Canada class battleship that would've been built in the late 1930's as the washington naval treaty collapsed. She was scrapped to due several reasons in 2022, but your lovely video showcasing the evolution of your fleet reminded me of her. I like some of the building techniques you used in your ships and the designs are fascinating in their construction. Great video!

    I made my own lego battleship, it was known as the Coalition-class Battleship. Only one ship of the class was built which was the Coalition.
    The ship's design was similar to that of the Renown-Class Battlecruisers of the Royal Navy, but shorter and the weapons are all different. The main turrets were the same layout, 3 twin-barrel guns.
    Coalition was built in 1935 and entered service in 1939, she was the flagship of my Lego fleet until she was sunk by German U-Boats on the Mediterranean in 1944.

    • @81stbrickbattalion
      @81stbrickbattalion  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That’s awesome. I like the phrase “Big guns only” from World of Warships describing battleships and battlecruisers. Now that’s gun boat diplomacy.
      I should really start building and buying more destroyers and cruisers otherwise my carriers will suffer the same fate.

    Nice! I usually do spaceships myself, but I can appreciate a good navy! My best spaceship is an 18" long ship called the Blackhole Constrictor. It has a hangar in the middle with two doors that fold open to deploy a bomber. My favorite of your ships was the Vanguard carrier, very nice indeed (although it appears to be quite susceptible to air-to-sea torpedo attacks due to the open-air lookouts on the sides). Nice video though, keep up the good work!

    I made many ships in my time, mainly small cruisers and destroyers, but this gave me nostalgia from my old pre-battleships, which I called Flat ships, due to having no real hull and built on base plates. But I made more modern warships, many being pocket battleships and multi-role cruisers, (I have 2 cruisers with a flight deck and runway on the back of the ship.) and Dreadnought style warships were a trend in my Navy. I have many photos and videos, mainly one that I have on me. And I only ever made like 3 carriers, which are small escort type carriers since I’m poor and making Large carriers is extremely expensive. And I only ever made 3 ships capable of launching ICBMs and Anti Ship missiles. You definitely got a sub out of me here. Thanks so much for reinspiring me.

      I used a combination of hinges, bricks, and plates to create the bow and sterns of my ships. I also build bulkheads that intersect the outer hull to give the hull rigidity. Ships can be very piece intensive so you might need to make the ship a rainbow. Using the colourful bricks for the bulkheads can save bricks with the colours you want.

      @Ancient_Historical Yeah. You can use my scrapped ships. Vanguard physically in real life can likely hold up to 20 full sized folding naval aircraft (Perhaps 8 fighters, 6 dive bombers, 6 torpedo bombers, Minifig sized planes are really large to store). If the aircraft shrunk even more you could potentially hold up to 35-40 aircraft but each aircraft’s firepower and range will be much less. You could probably have a whole 35 multi-role drone UAVs if the technology was there.

My own Navy has ended up taking a bit of a back seat in favour of a Star Fleet, which also has been growing since about 2007-8. I do very much see a similar evolution of design though, in the build complexity over the years! And I'm honestly surprised how closely your Navy and my Star Fleet mirror each other in terms of detail and variety. Different ships with different roles, fighters, bombers, carriers and all that. Plus of course the detailed specifications about what weapons and technologies each ship has. The main difference I think is that I built the Star Fleet in microscale. So a hello to your fleet from the RSF Infernal!

    How does the cruiser have less size and firepower than the destroyer?

    • @81stbrickbattalion
      @81stbrickbattalion  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Change in military doctrine and classification as time passed by. By current classification standards it would be better to reclassify that old cruiser as a frigate or corvette.

    Suggestion: make a Tiger Class Battleship (its like the USS Iowa but a bit smaller, and much upgraded)

    • @81stbrickbattalion
      @81stbrickbattalion  ปีที่แล้ว

      Tiger class battleship. Reminds me of the Kongo and Iowa class. These fast battleship / battlecruisers are able to keep up with carriers and potentially provide firepower against anything that can chase down a carrier task group. That unit concept is an asset. I will think about it.

    • @81stbrickbattalion
      @81stbrickbattalion  ปีที่แล้ว

      In most cases I take new photos with better backgrounds for new and current models or I selectively choose better photos for older models. However, in this case I only had 2 photos of the ship available to me at the time. These photos at 5:06 were taken in a storage area with many different types of boxes (electronics, clothing, games, e.t.c). For credibility purposes I decided to use those photos unedited.

    Cool ships. Mine were pirate ships for a while until it turned into battleships and aircraft carriers. They were mostly focused on being durable and not good looking. They had lazers and railguns and the aircraft are 6th gen+. Prob is they’re all in pieces after a lizard with atomic breath destroyed them😅😅😅

    how much do i have to pay for the dolphin class one?

    • @81stbrickbattalion
      @81stbrickbattalion  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used bricks from my own collection so I did not pay any money. However, if I were to source the parts of bricklink I'd probably guess it would cost $100 CAD to $130 CAD including shipping if simple bricks are easy to come by.

    • @81stbrickbattalion
      @81stbrickbattalion  ปีที่แล้ว

      parts were cannibalized from my own sets, bought via LEGO store or online pick a brick, gifted to me, bought via BrickLink. It took me a while but I was able to build up a sizeable piece inventory over 10 years.

      if you dont have enough bricks or panels then you could always use sideways plates for the hull to save bricks for the superstructure and other features
