Terry Sir, you have done a fantastic job and we are very proud of you (hence the Sir...). Congratulations on the completion. Looking forward to seeing the next project. Richard.
He look like very health. Time of career at engineer and scientists very long 60 years to 70 years. Operations research and tactics and strategies can predict future what happened!
I wish I could've met Charlie Wood, I have friends who knew him well, I would have loved to have seen the Cavalcade when the collection was still all together. The old Model T Fire Engine he had is still in the Ghost Town Firehouse at the Great Escape. He also loved Steam Power too, he had a 12" Gauge Live Steam Ottaway 4-4-0 Park Locomotive and cars also which was lettered for "The Land of Make Believe" and ran in Storytown.
The 99-year-old Car: Engineer Spends 15 Years Restoring His Dream Car Barcroft Cars - The Home Of Amazing Car Stories Online SUBSCRIBE: bit.ly/1sHvkD5 A man has spent 15-years transforming a rusty wreck into the vintage car of his dreams. Terrence Cleife, a retired motor engineer, bought the wreck of a 1916 American LaFrance saloon car in 1998. The pre-war vehicle had been dismantled and was lying as a pile of scrap on the floor of a barn. The car’s missing parts were welded by Terry out of bronze and cast iron to match the vehicles original chassis and the engine completely re-assembled. Now 71, Terry has the car of his dreams and has completed the painstaking piece-by-piece restoration.
All of the mechanical parts are either original or restored including the front seat. The rear seat has now been removed. The bodywork was missing when found but a design based on a Simplex car is now fitted. The La France company hired Simplex engineers to help with their early vehicles.
My Grandmother's ex husband Used to restore early 20's and 30's Fire trucks, he would drive them down Main Street on Horse and Buggy day. If you don't Know what Horse and buggy day is look it up.

Kinda reminds me of the car used in the classic movie "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"!
I use to do mechanical work on that car and have driven it many times when Charlie Wood owned it in the Cavalcade of cars in Lake George NY :)
Very interesting that you knew the La France in America. Do you have any info on it's history, assuming we are talking about the same vehicle?
