- Make sure to view all 3 options, don't just stop with option #1.
Watch this before you go digging around with a shovel or a probe, I'm going to show you 3 ways to find your septic tank (and drain field) using some tricks I learned from 15 years in the real estate business; starting on your computer.
Added bonus is a method using your crawl space to find your septic system.
I was skeptical at first with the video, but the onlinerme worked like a charm. Great video, I wish I saw this before I made some exploratory holes in my yard. Thank you so much, amazing content!
Happy to help! I appreciate you watching and commenting, good luck with your septic!
This is what I got for Alabama: Public records searches, in the selected state or county, are not allowed at this time. Thank you for posting this anyway.
Check out the other 2 options if option 1 doesn't work for you. Thanks
I got this message: Public records searches, in the selected state or county, are not allowed at this time.
Where are you located? Maybe the site was down. Did you try option 2 through the local assessor?
Same here. Washtenaw County, Michigan
Same. Nevada County, CA.
Same here SC
Me too. I ordered records from the county on my address but no septic tank location. I know I have one cuz my neighbors on both sides have one
I had to do a public records request for my property. It only costs $0.10 per sheet for plans. It’ll probably take longer but a heck of a lot cheaper than paying local septic guy to come flush some detectable fluid down my john. Still, your video was helpful and I appreciate it 👍
Glad it helped you, thanks for watching 😁
Great video, lost of good information, thanks!
Happy to help, thanks for watching. I've filmed some more septic videos and hope to have them edited and posted soon.
I tried the Online RME and it wouldn't give me any info. Went to the second site and I was able to find everything but the page with the septic tank location(s). I'm trying to find a second one of my property. I was told there was one by neighbors. I should be able to use a metal detector to find it. Great video!
Depending on the county you live in, the drawings or maps themselves can be in very similar yet not the exact location shown in the video. I suggest clicking around as well and I'm sure you'll find it hidden close.
Yeah, Online RME didn't work for me either. Just sat there
@@MojoPupsame here
It says at the top, Public records searches, in the selected state or county, are not allowed at this time. 😳
Brevard county FL and neither of the first two online document methods work. Unfortunately no crawl space either.
This is what popped up - Public records searches, in the selected state or county, are not allowed at this time. So much for that method.
Sometimes that happens, that's why there are 3 options given.
I received an error message that "Public records searches, in the selected state or county, are not allowed at this time." This is for Alamance County in North Carolina
Was that through onlinerme or the assessor page?
@@BrettsBuilds It was on the onlinerme site. I was able to submit a request for the report with the state department of health.
It says doesn't work for county 😢
Dido, search says public records for state and county are not allowed at this time. It may be that I live in rural western Kentucky 4 miles outside the city limits and the house is 48 years old.
I received the same error message
As expected because I live in California, public searches are not allowed.
3 options given for this reason, 1 is guaranteed to work
This site didn’t work for me. I punching my address and hit submit search and nothing. It wouldn’t go beyond the first screen.
What about option 2 through the county assessor site? Option 3 works for everyone
Public record searches are not allowed in this state or.county at this time
Both option 1 and 2?
Shit brought me to a cavas logo's shop doesn't work like it did when you made this video.
Which website are you typing in? That sounds like a misspelling to double check
My problem is there is no septic permit on file the home was built in 1980
@@BillieChristine-d5c even if it's not permitted there will often be drawings made by septic inspectors, assuming it's been inspected. If all else fails, option 3 is for everyone to point you in the right direction. Thanks for watching.
@@BrettsBuilds Thank you!
I did the online RME and it told me any search in my state or county is not available. So I did my local assessor and found information about my property, but no information about my septic system.
Depending on the county, you have to dig around for it. Sometimes the records are too old and option 3 is the only way.
The issue is not so much finding the tank, but where the lid is.
Once you find the tank, finding the lid is easy. It's at worst 12-24 inches from any point on the top of the tank.
didnt work for me
How rural of an area do you live in?
Florida and says not allowed at this time. So didn't work
@@floridafam8365 try option 2 and 3
Sadly, after entering location information I was stopped dead by this: Public records searches, in the selected state or county, are not allowed at this time.
There are 3 total options to try, don't be discouraged by the way one.
It won’t search my address. How do I fill out the street name of it has “road” in the street name?
Can you leave out the "road"? What about option 2 within your local county assessor?
My house is to old, no records in county or on line
If it's older than when records started to be kept in your area then option 3 is the only way, I wish you luck!
This site will not work for the state of Georgia.
Did you try the other 2 options I put in the video?
Public records didn’t work for me
Did the assessor site work?
Said my search was not allowed at this time
This is why I give 3 options, guaranteed to work.
Does not work for Tennessee, Bradley County
What about option 2? There's always option three that works for everybody. That's why I put three options in there.
Not available at this time
How about option 2? If all else fails option 3 works for everyone. Hence the 3 options.
Looks like an addition was built over my septic tank 😢
Oh no, I hope there's access to it underneath somewhere. Good luck!
@@BrettsBuilds I'm digging...
I'm hoping it's not under concrete pad
@@MrJohnnyblazed good luck! I bought a cheap camera on Amazon you can use to scope your line to see how far it goes. I then mark it and see how far it goes to tell you exactly where to dig if it's under concrete. IMO it'd be worth the $350 to make sure you're digging in the right spot, save a lot of time.
Ya, don't work. Says not allowed at this time.
@@AFpaleoCon there are three options, at least one is guaranteed to work.
@@BrettsBuilds The two online methods didn't work and probing only found my green plastic lid thing and then asphalt past that.
@@AFpaleoCon the green lid is your septic tank.
Doesnt work in alabama
Try option 2, then option 3 works for everyone
