Just wanted to thank you for these old videos I can revisit… I shoot XH2, 18/23/33/50 LM for my weddings and live music… but, rewatching these videos has helped me decide that the 23/50 f2 on my XT5 will make a great compact travel kit.
Enjoyed the video and you captured some great images. I found London to be quite friendly but I suppose some of it is about you never quite know what the person is doing when smiling at you.... Its also an age thing... Older people tend to exchange smiles etc. Keep up the good work! 👍🏻
These vids are the greatest, Shot spotting is my obsession, I think video is easier to invoke an emotion than single frame shooting, because you have movement, However to invoke that same emotion with one single frame is truly on another level of talent.I just bought an XT-4 and am chomping at the bit. Cheers from CA.
Where I live, it's a bad idea to look at strangers. It's an invitation for them to try to panhandle, get you to sign a petition, or sell you something. So "don't make eye contact" is kind of the default position for a lot of people.
Loved the little clip here, always nice shots! Although you don't like cloudy skies it turned out pretty good👌😉 I watch these beautiful shots of London, and I miss it so much, need to walk those streets and Thames paths again soon! 🧡🌟 But isn't that amazingly weird to see all those usually packed places empty of people, I have people everywhere on my pics, this is quite something, London all by yourself ! 😎👍
@@snapsbyfox You're welcome 😎 As for the people, I'm no expert but I'd say that whenever people see a camera even to this day, that produces often a first reaction of suspicion or protecting oneself (by looking away or down, hiding, move to the other sidewalk). These are common reactions I get from time to time as well, and I DON'T yell at ducks for instance ! 😎🤣🤣
Thanks for the inspiration. I went to London from Denmark a few years back when I had just picked up the photography hobby - looking forward to go back again. How do you fasten your go pro while walking around? A harness or just attached to a belt? Thanks for your videos!
You need to put some jam on your shoes and invite your trousers down for tea....😂 (it’s ok I’m old) .... always look forward to your videos man, they never get old, great stuff.🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hi Roman I've only just found your channel following the great collaboration with Mr Danks. I've now subscribed 👍 I also shoot Fuji and have dabbled in Street Photography but still learning to 'see' or anticipate an image. I currently use the 35mm F2 and was considering getting the 23mm f2 but I'm interested to know why you like the 50mm and if you could only have ONE lens for street which would it be? Love the POV vlogs by the way
Cheers! So I have all 3 and use them almost equally as they all do different things. I like 50 for the compression and naturally many of my photos are from 35 to 50. 23 on the other hand always comes with me for those scenarios where I gotta go wide to take a hero shot for example. If I had to pick only one to use for good I would actually get the 27mm pancake that just come out...
@@snapsbyfox that's great thanks. I'm hopefully meeting up with my mate for a weekend shooting some street early July so I'll be watching all your previous vlogs for tips. Thanks again
I think people look away because they have been looking at you trying to figure you out (basically NOT minding their own business) and once you look at them, they feel like they just got caught doing something they shouldn’t have been doing. Basically they’re embarrassed and don’t want confrontation if you took offense to someone staring at you.
Some people don't like confrontation. A youth in a hoody may come across a certain way. Those same people don't usually want to get involved if someone was being mugged.
People are nosey. That doesn't mean they want to be caught being nosey. It's nothing personal, they just aren't looking for interaction, only curiosity.
As for the eye-contact/smile question, I wonder how much of it is cultural and I wonder specifically if you get the same type of reaction when you're on your trips in other parts of the country. Though I live across the world over in Texas, one of my British friends shared this with me a few months ago and a few others verified that it tracks pretty well: th-cam.com/video/PT0ay9u1gg4/w-d-xo.html
It's amazing how beautiful London can be through a proper photographer's lens.
cheers bro! You will cook up some good ones too when you're down here no doubt!
Literally the best photography channel on this whole site
I recently purchased the 50mm f2 and it has become my favorite lens for street and family photography.
4:50 an artwork masterpiece
Too kind! Cheers
I love your photo walk video series. I wish there was more of them
Asks why nobody smiles and say hello then tells a duck to ‘shut up’ 😂
Might be an answer in there somewhere
Enjoyed this one, pics were great
hahahaha

Wonderful wonderful shot at 12:40 and the two after that. Don't see many of those Porsche's around. Lucky.
what a beautiful day in London. Nice video and photos
Lovely stuff! i literally shouted at my screen when the porsche image came up, damn what a nice shot!
hahah thank you!
Nice shots Roman!!
Man, really enjoyed this one, Roman. Great work. The shot of the older guy on the bike with Ferris wheel was my fave!
Thank you!
your photo walk is something else!
Cheers!
I never get tired of POV's in London. Great video!
Thanks!
Excellent video thanks. Regards not smiling I haven’t a clue I think it’s lovely when someone smiles it can brighten your day 😊😊
Love those sunrise hits! Good to see them across other cities/countries. My side of the world here still has tons of restrictions.
I love the second shot

Always get a dose of inspiration from your vids; thanks and keep it up.
Thank you!
To look back and not smile is confrontational so it’s more polite to look down if you are not willing to engage. Great shots btw 😊👍😊
Loving this series, Roman - giving me loads of inspiration when I can head down to London. "if you saw someone talking to a lamppost, it was me" Ha!
I think you should try that night, they're very few videos of X-T4 in lowlight street photography
really not into night photography tbh
Another enjoyable video and thanks for sharing this one 🙂 we have loads of blue clouds here 2 😂
Very cozy video!! I love it. It make me feel that i want to go back to London.... Love frome Switzerland
ooooo can't wait to do this in Geneva! cheers
class work

That’s interesting. Didn’t think of that at all. Thank you for sharing
Nice! Just bought an xt4 and a few lenses. 23mm 1.4 10-24mm and lens adapter with canon 70-200
Another great video Roman. What time were you there from?
Spring is coming

Can you make a review video for the cinematic pictures for this movie.
" The Lady Of heaven" 2M views at trailer
05:48 why your set is f/4 and 1/4000? I think f/8 and slower shutter speed will be better.
more please!!!
Your video is so amazing but I have one question please how do you edit your video please?
Thanks for the inspiration. I went to London from Denmark a few years back when I had just picked up the photography hobby - looking forward to go back again. How do you fasten your go pro while walking around? A harness or just attached to a belt? Thanks for your videos!
like this style vid!

hahaha I haven't heard that saying in years... classic! Cheers
Really enjoyed your video, would be interesting to hear how you run your workshops and what an amateur can expect out of it. Cheers
Cheers! all the info right here.... www.snapsbyfox.com/shop/workshop
Is the pov camera the GoPro 9? I really want to know it looks actually quite good
Eye contact in Orlando and you have a tourist asking for directions, lol!
haha
Great shot at 9:38, you could definitely whack that on a postcard and flog it to the tourists!
Cheers man!
Lekker Video.... Enjoyed seeing the Workshop images. Have you done a video on your editing process?
Cheers! yes it is actually on the end card of this video
@@snapsbyfox Found it and watched twice..lol
Great video! Thanks.
🙏🙏
Hello mate, what is the army attire you comment in the beginning? BTW I love your work
Merino wool maybe?
Question: do you find it easier to get up before sunrise or to stay up until sunrise? It’s got to be one or the other.
haha neither!! Well in the winter id rather wake up as sunrise is late. In the summer for sure it is easier to stay up
As a car photographer I especially liked the Porsche shot. But the whole video was really cool!
Cheers!
have you tried this in low light?
I liked that video.. did you shoot with autofocus or manual AFL button..
Cheers, I used auto focus
D best 👏🏻

Very enjoyable video !! Do you ever use ND filters on sunny days?
Cheers! nah I don't.... don't have any filter unless its a CPL for a specific purpose which is rare
Nice video Roman. Do you tend to use spot metering when doing these sunrise shots? :)
No, I use mostly Multi if in auto. Cheers
I really want to come to London. Just restricted with the lockdown
Soon!
Do you shoot full manual or in one of the priority modes?
both about 50/50
@@snapsbyfox thanks!
Was you on manual settings in London or partly
yeah for the photos during workshop where ISO was at a constant 500

Basically they’re embarrassed and don’t want confrontation if you took offense to someone staring at you.
very interesting point!
How many batteries do you take with you on a typical walk?
One spare that I almost always never use as XT4 battery is really good
Lovely! ^^
To your question, I think people are ashamed when they are caught staring at others. So their first reaction is to look at their feet.
04:13 - 28mm or 24mm shots will be more interesting in this position.
POV Photography is like gameplay for gamers
I bet they're just embarrassed to have been staring at you
Good point!
That’s much better, ground level and no vertigo 👍
♥♥♥♥♥
01:19 had missed the shoot
Where’s Perry?
I'm so shocked at the low traffic levels in your video.
still technically lockdown and no one drives into central any more
@@snapsbyfox There weren't that many buses either which again shocked me, it's like walking through Brighton at 7am when no one is there.
Could be your pink hoody ??
well not everyone can pull it off so I could be haha
01:34 03:43 had missed the shoot
Some people don't like confrontation. A youth in a hoody may come across a certain way. Those same people don't usually want to get involved if someone was being mugged.
I will take that as a compliment on my youthful looks haha cheers
People are nosey. That doesn't mean they want to be caught being nosey. It's nothing personal, they just aren't looking for interaction, only curiosity.
04:48 It's dark a little (underexposed) and not so beautiful because of it :-(
I think some people are shy and have possibly had some negative human contact. That’s my guess.
As for the eye-contact/smile question, I wonder how much of it is cultural and I wonder specifically if you get the same type of reaction when you're on your trips in other parts of the country. I think people feel caught staring at you :)
Hmm yeah didn’t think of that
Wow some of these photos made me pause the video and just gawk
They are looking in the mirror.. Either they like what they see or they don't!
Are you allowed to just take photos of random people on the streets?
in the UK of course you can
talking to a lamp post isn't it better than talking to yourself???
about the same
You must remind them of someone they owe money to!!!!!
