It's weirdly satisfying to see this team in such high spirits. These athletes look genuinely happy competing with each other throughout the competition.
I used to be able to do a front handspring vault and stick it cold LOL. And the tsuk pike 1.5 that's actually the most difficult I ever did in gymnastics. So I guess I could've been a part of the Chinese national team with that =}. Jk but no I could.
I think it was vault number 1.00, which has a DV of 2.0, as you could see from her score. Still that was really surprising to see the most basic vault possible in a competition, and not even executed as well as possible
so she is in the final because they put out some sort of "physical fitness exam" all these athletes (yes gymnastic athletes) have to compete in running, push ups, etc. This girl was number 11 in the qualifiers, but all the athletes placed before her (#3 to #7) did not pass the fitness exam. So she somehow ended up in the final. and she knows she would be placed #5 no matter what.
There were actually 2 or 3 others who qualified but they did not score well enough on the national fitness tests done before the competition to be allowed to compete in finals. Really sad because if they're able to qualify to a final they're obviously fit enough
Actually, 11 women competed two vaults in qualification. But then #3-#7 qualifiers were ineligible for the final due to physical testing requirements (there is a new rule that you have to be over a certain threshold to enter the final)
Wow- that's crazy requirement- I mean I can't believe that anyone training well enough to perform at the National Competition could be physically not fit enough... must be a pretty intense test!
Seriously ??? Is there any chinese gymnas who have a good voulter after cheng fei ? I mean ,they all kind a weak in voult ,should be an evaluate from the couch ,voult could be a great score to team ,they should train at least DTY for every gymnast ,
Cheng Fei was picked for National Team because of her strong legs. The Head Coach at the time wanted to see if he could make a vault champion - the way he tells it - she was picked because of the potential to vault and had good foundational skills etc. That coach retired after Beijing (but notice in Beijing they also had Jiang Yuyuan who could perform an Amanar - but didn't pull it off due to injury she was carrying and they had 3 solid DTY). The Head Coach changed after Beijing with the previous one retiring. The older coach (that trained Cheng Fei) and headed the team in Beijing has actually since passed away. I could be wrong but I noticed from some documentaries that they pick gymnasts very early based on body type - however they are picking kids in line with next Olympic cycle - so you might spot someone at aged 10 and take them to national team... But by the time they compete in the Olympics, the Code of Points has changed once or twice, and might favour different body types (like more explosive bigger tricks seem to need more muscular rather than tiny gymnast and these tricks might be heavier in code of points - in 2008 bars was the big deal, scoring higher than other events and favouriting bar technicians... so its always changing). What I mean is a system that picks too early doesn't adjust quickly, as it'll take years for your latest selections to reach senior level. Not sure how my theory is cause I'm not as familiar with the intricacies of the selections but I have wondered if this is partly why China has difficulty finding a vaulter like Cheng Fei again - for such a big country it should surely be possible.
Qi Qi is like the Simone Biles for China right now. Lol. She's so small and idk HIW but doing what Most of these Chinese Gymnasts should be close to at least. Its sad to see Tingtint doing a Yurchenko Full. I mean its vault that could make you lose an all around. I don't get it. I get the saving the athletes but a tsuk full and a Yurchenko full Ora. Cuervo vault is not gonna get u anywhere unless your competition is just as weak.
the last girl is actually in perfect body shape for VT and FX, she should really train harder on the form and how to maintain momentum. QiQi, though w solid skills, would not get high E-score. Judges do prefer muscle-type VTers
Very low standard, Qi Qi was ok but she gets very little distance from the board. Because of their tiny stature, China have always been weak on Vault apart from Cheng Fei

4th girl’s second vault didn’t even count as a vault. It had no difficulty attached to it

@@NF30 I think it was treated as training for her.. felt so sorry for her,the rest of the girls left her out completely.. she also looked sooo young.

If she's not on the national team, you will not see her at international competitions.
Not perfect. She is relativ big and not enought musculature in legs, abdo, the back, all body (for elite level)...
