    I have been riding a set of Elite 50D wheels for about six months. I’ve done something like 1100mi and many, many thousands of feet of climbing. I live in the mountains.
    They’ve been absolutely perfect. The only complaint I have is how loud the freehub is. I would prefer silence. I’ve never been into loud ones.

      More grease will quiet it down.

      @@Silidons91 Yeah, I did that. It helped immensely with my DT Swiss freehub on my mountain bike, but less so on the Elite hub.
      When I say I like silent, I'm not kidding. :)

      The hub on my Aeulus Pro 37 wheel is whisper quiet. Cyclists who like loud hubs are kinda like people who like loud motorcycles… maybe a little dumb 🤷‍♂️

      This is an interesting cultural difference. Most Chinese cyclists prefer loud hubs, which is why Chinese-made wheelsets are often loud af

      Why wouldn't you want your rear wheel to sound like a swarm of hornets gone wild?

  • @stuartdryer1352
    @stuartdryer1352 ปีที่แล้ว +20

    I bought a set in 50 mm depth. I didn’t make any of the measurements because I don't have a truing stand etc. But I can attest to how they feel when you let them rotate in your hands, and it is amazing. They have ceramic bearings, and time will tell how they hold up. As for riding them, they're quite stiff and strangely silent compared to carbon wheels with more conventional spokes like Sapim cx-ray. (Until you coast, and then they sound like an apocalyptic hoarde of angry hornets.) Interestingly, the 28-mm Pirelli tires that I mounted (with tubes) measure closer to 30 mm, presumably because of the wheel inner width, but they are almost perfectly flush with the outside of the wheel, people who know this stuff say is optimal for aerodynamics. That also means I can ride them at quite low tire pressure, which makes them super comfortable. They are the best wheels I have ever ridden, and hopefully they will stay that way. By the way I mounted them on a new Yoeleo R12 road bike frame with an Ultegra Di2 groupset. All-in-all I think this bike build compares well with high-end bikes that cost 2 to 2.5 times as much.

    • @rovets

      How did they hold up?

      @pb2815 So far great but its only been 4 months or so. (Probably ~ 1200 miles, as its not the only bike I ride).
      Edit added. They are now making a creaking sound when I put a lot of power in lowering gears. It went away when I put a different wheel on.

      @@stuartdryer1352 I appreciate the reply! So it wasn't a bearings failure? The original ceramics are still running well? Do you have any mileage estimate on them? Thanks! Buying these wheels today and can't decide between steel and ceramic bearings. The price difference is minuscule, like 30 USD, but if they're going to fail quickly I'd just rather stick to longer-lasting steel

    The hubs and bearings spin so freely, I pulled my tire off to check for an imbalance (maybe congealed sealant?). Turns out, the wheel always just rotated (surprisingly quickly) to put the slightly heavier valve at the bottom. Never seen that before.

    When checking for run out, Wouldn't be better to measure on the inside of the wheel where the tire is mounted? When checking the outside, there could always be slight deviation like the decals that would not matter. But checking the runout area of the hook on the rim, wouldn't that be the most accurate? Also the inside of the rim where the tire mounts. That would effect how true the tire would be.

    taxes included according to the website which makes that £900 look even better. Weight of the 50mm 1350ish grams. Carbon spokes and only 28mm outer puts me off though as I run 28/30mm tyres. Very good price for the spec of the wheel though compared to what you can buy in the UK. My Prime Primvera 56 are 1620g and they cost me just under £600
