Personally I think it’s very possible to publish an article on your own, HOWEVER it sure looks better when you’re associated with an university, an organisation, etc. Great tips btw!! 😇
Truth! I really wish lecturers in the department were more knowledgeable about careers in psychological professions: in particular, about the many roles that exist besides the CP doctorate, and the immense value of gaining experience in caring roles (this would be way more helpful than them saying "clinical is too competitive, don't bother"). With regards to publications, it is never too late to try and submit to a journal. I published mine, but it isn't something that I discussed with my supervisor or considered until after finishing my degree. Again, I wish that this was something that was talked about and encouraged more by faculty :)
I agree!! I felt like I had very little guidance during my undergrad in terms of post grad prospects. Ooo that's very helpful!! I didn't even realise we could do that alone!!
Well i'm an undergrad student (first year in 2023) majoring in psych. This video actually helped me as i was working part time at retail:( which means i was wasting my time kinda but atleast i found your video early:) now i can go look for another place to obtain experience.THANK YOU SM,YOU ARE A STAR.
You could do a video on what a clinical psychologist actually is, as many people seem to think that a counsellor or therapist are the same thing as a clinical psychologist
I'm a mature student. I watched your video about 18 months ago when I was first thinking about doing my psychology conversion (due to qualify in summer 24). Just wanted to say even as a mature student I have found your videos super helpful. Especially the one you did on Leeds Clearing House - I would never have guessed psychology would have been so different from my original profession (nursing) in terms of how the courses are structured and how you go about making sure you have the best possible chance.
Hey undergrad psych student watching here! I was wondering whether an undergrad could carry out their own credited research and publish a research paper so the publish your dissertation tip was extra helpful! Could you perhaps include a video on advice on how to gain more experience as an undergrad looking for summer placements etc? What your experience was in finding your niche in psych / narrowing it down as it is quite a broad field?? Love the video !
Hi, thanks for watching! I wish I published my undergrad diss, it takes some time and effort but definitely worth it! I've noted those video ideas down thank you!
Just keep communicating with them about everything they are there to help you so don’t feel like you are annoying them research more and use all resources even ask ur friends for help but don’t copy and make best use from lecturers and supervisor
I have been on a gap year before uni, I am underprepared for everything aha. Videos like what you need to buy for actual lessons, I am staying at home and all i can find is stuff to buy for moving out. i also have no clue about any terminology or lay out of how you get tested and it stresses me out lol.
Amazing video!! Suggestions - Advice for a first year undergrad going into second year, advice for someone trying to decide between clinical psych or research/lecturing as a career. Basically deciding where you want to take your psych degree
Despite getting a distinction for my undergrad experiment, I'm not proud of it so I can't imagine submitting it for publication! The topic isn't great in my opinion and could've been better.
I'm a current second year Psych undergraduate (just have to do exams in May and this year's over!) When you said to get your dissertation published, how exactly do you go about this? I'm assuming they have to be of a pretty high standard to be published (If they get published in journals?) so is that something the uni profs usually handle for those that are worthy of being published? Love your vids!!
Oooo good luck!! I would approach your dissertation supervisor. So this would be the professor over seeing your research project/dissertation! Thanks for watching, what videos would you like to see as an undergrad?
@@SharonB thanks!! I would love to hear your advice on how to approach/prepare for unseen essay exam questions. I did maths, Chem and physics at a level so I haven’t seen an unseen essay question since gcse lol so I’m super nervous !!
Hope everything’s good sis 👋🏾 Just finished 2nd year about to go into 3rd GOD willing I have been considering forensic psych recently. Would you need to do a masters to get onto the 2 years training ?
can i connect with you? instagranm or facebook or whatsapp..i wanna know about studying as a clinical psychologist what kinds of knowledge that i must need to know.

Ahhh I see!! I literally have zero idea about publishing research lol

Amazing video!!! Can you make a video about taking notes and writing essay in psychology degree. That will be really helpful xx
Love these tips, Sharon!
Thank you!!
thank you for the video very helpful content !
I wish I had this video during my undergrad!
Honestly same!! I've learnt so much since graduating!
Hi Sharon, enjoying your content ❤️❤️❤️ 🙏

Very helpful video, I appreciate the advice Sharon. How have you found the career path thus far? If you don't mind me being too inquisitive.😊
What about school psychology

How can I publish my dissertation?
Try mentioning this to your lecturer
How can you get your undergraduate dissertation published?
What about a mature student trying to get into psychology with consultancy
Would a psychology degree be transferable overseas?
what is a 2-1 ? your accent makes me wonder if that's even relevant to me.
Did you do a masters?
Nope I did not!
@@SharonB so you just did your bachelors? And then what are you doing now?
@@javeriakhan1091 she did Bachelors then worked as as assistant psychologist and applied for the doctorate
Do you need to be really involved in the laboratory practicals e.g MRI scans
