You are right, airborne in the army, both hips replaced, both knees, both carpal tunnel, L1-L5 surgery. I'm almost all new, no whining though ! Keep up the great work, love your videos !
I grew up with the little balsa gliders in the paper envelope- both with and without the rubber band. The ones without the rubber band nowadays are always little styrofoam ones. My boys love em and it's great that they're cheap as hell, lol.
i'm 78, and started with gliders just like you're flying. oh does my shoulder hurt ! cortisone shots yes ! still love the hobby and still flying other things. carry on with much respect from me !
There's a reason mostly fly tip launch, doesn't damage the shoulder. That said, I still fly javelin style with Tim Batiuk who's in his 70s and still throws like a youngster. Ron Wittman is in his 90s and still throws amazingly well. Some people just have the right genes I guess!
For fun someto e you might look into the KFM family of airfoils, I had my best luck with a stem on the bottom side and only about less than an an eighth of an inch thick, be sure and smoothly rounded the leading edge, I got hooked on home made planes I. College, I'm 69" enjoyed your video a lot.
Good balsa is still readily available, but you have to order it from a supplier. Balsa Cabin in the UK, Model Aviation Products in Canada (also ships to the US), and Specialized Balsa, Balsa Wood Inc, and Indoor FF Supply in the US. I've also gotten surprisingly good balsa on Aliexpress, just takes a while to arrive.
Anton Blebann you are quite correct, however this is about the best you can get from a plane from these materials, and it's the longest flying chuck glider from those materials. For reasons I don't really understand, a lot of people prefer to make planes from foamboard and are scared of not only balsa, but Depron and blue foam too.
@@joshuawfinn i can imagine, many People consider Balsa as an expensive Material, maybe it's more Painfull to Crash a Balsa Modell than one made of Foambord?!

I know balsa is still king . but awesome job on that one . its surely appreciated. And for kids its perfect ✌ 👍
Caleb said, "Come on, Paul. We are out of here before dad hits us with another plane!"
How much does is weigh? What is the wingspan ?
looks like the old balsa CHUCKIE glider I had in my youth many years ago, only difference is the polyhedral wing, the CHUCKIE was just a dihedral wing
Happy memories!
Somehow I think you will try a rocket engine on this.
Bill Kuhl yeah probably so!
the balsa is the best but the foamboard its ok mathrial .thanks my frent for free plans

Do you have any templates or could you make and templates

Good balsa is almost impossible to get any more so foam board is IT for me going forward

built a few flight test style airplanes, but never liked the material, balsa is still best
Josh, you should start designing and selling scale models. I bet you'd be good at it!
Oh my. I see why you’ve never bothered to make foamboard chuck gliders before.
Nice prollect
YES, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES!!!! And YES!
Nice, but it is very soon back down.

@@antonblebann6823 Foam board is also more accessible with limited tools. All you really need is a razor.
@@jeffrussert448 Yes, this is probaly the bigest Advantage of this Material.
