@@derickfromnyc The G is getting R211s because it had R46 since 1978 unfortunately we're completely removed in 2013 but we're brought back in 2020

To a regular person they are the same but to someone who knows a lot about it, they would tell you a whole list of different things. Do you think some will run on the R line? Cause if I’m not mistaken the E and F r160 Trains are sometimes used on the R line occasionally if the R is on the F line to 179 st and during rush hours
Darryl Quick The E, F, M, and R will get 1486 R160s for CBTC on the Queens Blvd IND.
Thank god the R46’s are classics but it’s time for a new fleet all throughout the system thanks for the info

Ok everyone should know that this is only a test train. All 8-car R179s are going in service on the J/Z ONLY. 10-car R179s are going in service on the A ONLY, but possibly share with the C.

K1 due to L shutdown next year, they want the C to use longer trains. That’s why there’s R46s running on it.

They already have these cars on the new 2nd ave Q line but most recently, I noticed they've rotated some older N,W,R cars onto the same line as well. Dunno' if there's a shortage or maintenance issue.

@@aaronsamuel2823 I understand it's not a R179 since they're not in service anymore but the cars running on the 2nd Ave Q line sure look like it from the inside and outside. Granted, I haven't ridden on the subway in over half a year now so who knows what cars are running nowadays.

They kinda sound like they have GE motors. The ones used in the Breda A650s in the L.A metro red line.

I once was clickbaited by the (F) via Sea Beach. I was at Roosevelt Av waiting for (E) or (F) and again, the sign was there so I hopped on. When I got to Broadway-Lafayette, they said next stop 2 Av. I was like fawk, now I gotta wait for the (D) (in a deep voice)

yes you can, but only southbound, switch to the B and D at either west 4th or broadway lafayette and continue via the N after the bridge
Yan Andrukhov You could also run that in the other direction as well. There are also points at Broadway-Lafayette for the F to switch to the local track
It looks like it goes from 6 Avenue via the D to 4 Av and goes via the N to Coney Island.

Number sequence seems to be a continuation of the R110b cars which were 3001-3009 with the first 10 car R179 being 3010-3019. Not sure if they'll run on queens blvd express E & F trains

Sharon Watkins 1.) those are 4-car units, so no, and 2.) Why would they get them now when the Queens Blvd Line is getting CBTC for the F line service, and 1486 R160s are getting retrofitted with CBTC equipment? As much as I want to have the CBTC use the newest cars, I think they should wait for the R211s to come, then Queens Blvd will really be in for a ride.
Doesn't the door in the front of the train make it a little less aerodynamic, caved in like that? I mean I like the way it looks, makes them a little different.

The train in the first clip needs to have the simulated stop adjusted. It didn’t stop all the way at 10 like it should of.

When are they gonna swap out the R32'S on the A and C for R179's I get the J and Z have a ton of R32'S and R42'S but the A and C have a crap ton too
K1 they’re not going to swap, they need to keep them for extra service.

add more A trains to run during rush hour which I would I think mean R179's running to cover that extra service

Hopefully they eventually decide to have the R179's run on the F to replace the R46's, and maybe the R as well.
The R46's have went through breakdowns last year, possibly because they were in service past 2011 (Which was said by the NYCT in 1981 that this would be the year the cars retire)

I’m unfamiliar with trains. Can someone provide a quick rundown of the advantages of this one over previous trains?
I might be really late, but the R179 has worse performance than the R160s and required 4x the amount of maintenance needed. The programs (route information) are also glitched out very commonly, with a big pause between sections of announcements. The other minor issues are fixed by an updated set of R179s.
why would the F need the r179s when it already has the r160s

We don’t need new train cars. We need less train traffic, more trains arriving on time, cleaner and upgraded stations. We need lower fares, $2.75 for the god awful service the MTA provided is a joke
If the MTA lowers the fare, then they don't get enough money to be able to perform the rest of your requests.
Here in Australia we pay $17 for 4 or more stops. We would love to pay $2.75.

How do you suggest having "less train traffic?" The trains are already over crowded. The only 2 ways to fix that are run more trains, or have people move out of the city.
The subway partly sucks because it's so cheap. They should start charging much higher rates, and then offer fair assistance to low income people.

1. They already offer low fare metrocards to older people.
2. Unless you haven't been living in NYC, you should know that the metrocard fare continues to go up higher and higher as time passes. We went from $2.50 (3 years ago) to $2.75 (today).
I can understand upgrading the C trains because some of those are ancient, by why the F and not the B and D?
