    I thought this app worked via an ODB device, how does it know when you have changed gears and stuff if it's connected via aux cable? also does using this mean no tunes can be played? cheers.

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Jason, the Potenza Drive app works with an OBD-II adapter, that's the only way to get vehicle information to generate car sounds.
      An OBD-II adapter with the following specifications is required:
      - ELM327 (chip)
      - Bluetooth
      The AUX cable is just for playing the sound from your smartphone to the car radio.
      However, you can also do it via Bluetooth, but expect delay and reduced audio quality.
      The Potenza Drive app can be used in the background, so you'll be able to listen to music and or GPS navigation instructions while driving.

      @PotenzaDrive  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, the Potenza Drive app simulates the "muffled" sound you would hear inside a powerful vehicle and not the sound recorded directly from an exhaust.
      Still, what you say is possible and will certainly sound good. 👌

    Is it only connects with Bluetooth obd2? My obd2 has wifi connection.

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Ozp, only a Bluetooth adapter will work with the Potenza Drive app. Also, it must have an ELM327 chip.
      What are the advantages of a Bluetooth adapter over Wi-Fi?
      - It saves 10 times more your smartphone battery.
      - When Wi-Fi is turned on, you cannot use the Internet from your smartphone (Mobile Data). Therefore, you cannot use other apps while driving that require Internet access, such as Navigation (GPS) and Music streaming.

      Hey Karim, the Potenza Drive only works with the help of an OBD-II ELM327 (Bluetooth) adapter.
      This is the only way to collect data from your car's information, like engine RPM, car speed, accelerator pedal position, among others.
      Based on this information, the app generates the car sounds in real-time.
      And here yes! You need an AUX cable to plug it to your car radio.

      Hey badenlp, as we discussed earlier, your BMW X1 has the OBD-II protocol "ISO 15765-4 CAN". 😎
      This is the fastest OBD-II protocol and the only one that allows you to simulate sounds in real-time.
      If there is a delay, it could be that you are streaming audio via Bluetooth.
      Please use an AUX cable, only then you will have real-time sounds. 👈
      If the sound is still not in real-time, it means that your OBD-II adapter has a weak/defective ELM327 chip. ⚠️
      We recommend that you get this one, it's already been tested by us and it makes all the difference.

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey buddy, unlike other apps of its kind, the Potenza Drive app only uses sounds recorded inside super cars. 🚘
      This makes the difference to give the feeling of realism. 🤯
      These sounds compared to the sounds recorded directly from the engine or exhaust are more "muffled". That is, they are low frequency sounds (BASS).
      You need to have a good sound system... really! 👈
      Powerful amplifier and large speakers are needed to play these low frequencies.
      A good sound system will vibrate the structure of the vehicle, giving the impression that you are actually in a super car. 👀

      Only if the sound doesn't meet "audiophile" requirements.
      For the Potenza Drive app, bass is important, so adjusting the car radio's equalizer will help boost the sense of realism.

      Hey zynoo, you're one of those people that we like to answer and are our "fuel" to keep this project going. 🚀⛽
      To explain this, look at these two scenarios:
      1) Ride uphill:
      - RPM: 3220
      - Engine load: 87%
      - Speed: 35 km/h.
      2) Accelerate on the highway:
      - Engine: 3220 RPM
      - Engine load: 87%
      - Speed: 150 km/h.
      In both cases, the RPM and engine load being the same, it means that the sound produced is the same.
      Speed does not directly interfere with an engine's sound production.
      This particular video did not allow high speeds as it is a rural area, but you can find other videos on our channel where we drive between 140-180 km/h.

      @PotenzaDrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@zynoo9450 all vehicles showcased here have stock sound systems. And so far, this is the car with the worst sound system shown here by us.
      In this particular case, the Pop & Bang feature doesn't sound so good on this car's sound system, as it doesn't have a "premium" sound system.
      The original amplifier and speakers do not excel in "audio quality".
      We only advise you to change the sound system if the sound doesn't sound right to you.
      Some basic but important tips to get better audio quality:
      - Playing audio over Bluetooth has a delay and degrades the audio quality, so use an AUX cable whenever possible.
      - Adjust the audio equalizer (EQ3) of your car radio, especially increasing the "bass" (not to the point where the audio gets distorted).
      - (Optional) If your audio system already has a subwoofer, even better!

    Is safe for your car engine?

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the Potenza Drive app is completely safe. 😌🚨
      We require the use of OBD-II adapters with ELM327 chips only for trust and security reasons. 👮‍♂️
      These are well-known and documented commands that only READ basic engine information. There is no possibility with these chips to WRITE changes to the ECU engine. 🧐
      In addition, the app does not have any malicious code that could compromise personal data or information. 🚷
      With each app update, it always undergoes a rigorous set of careful tests carried out by a Google application inspection team. 🕵️
      You can also read our Privacy Policy on the Google Play page of the Potenza Drive app. 🛡️✅💯
      Just to add and because we like to be as transparent as possible: The only concern we can point out is the use of poor build quality OBD-II adapters (mainly those made in China). ⚠️
      Due to the quality of the electronic circuits being deficient, short circuits or other electrical phenomena derived from these same circuits may occur, which may interfere with the vehicle CAN-BUS network and compromise its regular functioning. ⚡
      But these are very specific and occasional exceptions. Car manufacturers also try to create mechanisms that prevent these phenomena from affecting their systems. 🛡️💪

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Leon, thank you for liking the Potenza Drive app, it makes us happy! 🤠
      Regarding the delay you hear, it may have some sources: 🧐
      1) Does your car have an old OBD-II protocol?
      Only the ISO 15765-4 CAN protocol can generate car sounds in real-time. This protocol transmits up to 140 parameters per second, while the other protocols transmit between 3 to 6 parameters per second (at best).
      Unfortunately, we tested some vehicles that can only transmit about 2 parameters per second.
      2) Are you playing audio via Bluetooth?
      This is the biggest source of delay!
      Bluetooth is slow, it always has a delay of up to 2 seconds.
      It also applies compression to the audio, which loses its quality.
      IMPORTANT: Always use AUX cable! It's the only way to play real-time audio and maintains its quality.
      3) Do you have a powerful smartphone?
      The Potenza Drive app is a demanding app in terms of resources, the smartphone's performance is important to manage the communication with the OBD-II adapter and generate the car sounds in real-time.
      4) Do you have a good ELM327?
      If your ELM327 does not allow a constant and robust connection, some messages will be lost along the way, so the app will not be able to generate the car sounds in real-time.
      There are good ELM327s with a good response speed and bad ELM327s that are slow and lose communication easily.
      Are you now able to identify the source of the sound delay in your case? 🤓
      If you need help to better identify the delay source, contact us at: support@potenzadrive.com
      As for new car sounds, we are currently working on that.
      We want to point out that it's not easy to get recordings of vehicles with these engines nowadays.
      But if we ever manage to catch one, for sure we will seize the opportunity. 😎
      Thank you for being on our side! 🤝

      @@ChaseEverything as written in the previous comment, having the Potenza Drive app running directly from your Android head unit is no guarantee that there will be no delay. Or even have an excellent OBD-II adapter.
      These are all the factors to take into account:

      You can download our OBD-II Test app for free (link in the description of the video).
      This app will tell you if your OBD-II adapter (also the OBD-II protocol of your car) is a good device.
      It tells how much packets are lost during the test, and the average time to get new packets.
      We are happy to help you, so if you want more tips and advice about how to get the Potenza Drive app to work properly, please contact us: support@potenzadrive.com

    Can I just use an aux cord? Or do i need other stuff

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Obamnium, we suggest always using an aux cord. 👈
      Passing audio directly over cable allows the audio to be instantly streamed to your car radio.
      You can stream audio through Bluetooth, but depending on the devices involved you will always have a delay of 0.5 to 1.5 seconds.
      By the way, real-time audio simulation with the Potenza Drive app is only possible for vehicles with "ISO 15765-4 CAN" as OBD-II protocol. This is the fastest OBD-II protocol.
      Please read our FAQ in the description of this video. You will find the answer to your questions. 👍

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@MoinMeyster we're pretty sure it's a clone version of the ELM327 chip. 🤫
      Note that there are cloned versions that work just as well as the original.
      However, this is not always the case and you may get a very weak adapter.
      In our defence, we already ordered some adapters from this same supplier, and they all behaved as expected. Yet, if you get an adapter with a genuine ELM327 chip, the chances of it working correctly are guaranteed.
      Last note: the "ELM327 Blue" adapters are all similar on the outside, but on the inside they have completely different integrated circuits. So don't let the appearance fool you.
      Your adapter may not be the "same" as the one shown in this video.

    Why was he not letting off the gas when shifting?

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have a good eye! 🕵️😅
      This car has a manual transmission, and as usual we stop accelerating when we shift (moment when we just step on the clutch pedal). 👣
      Especially when we were upshifting, the RPM value that was on the CAN-BUS was strangely a higher RPM. Making the generated sounds play this RPM.
      Why? We don't know... is this a common problem on this brand's model? Or was it just our unit? 🤔
      We remind you that the Potenza Drive app only reads the RPM transmitted by the OBD-II ELM327 adapter, and based on that, the sounds are generated.
      The app is not designed to "invent" RPM values by itself. ⚠️

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Yugen, this message means you are trying to run the app without selecting an ELM327 adapter.
      First, you'll need to have an ELM327 Bluetooth adapter paired to your Android OS.
      Then in the app you will have to select the adapter in the device list, go to SETTINGS < SELECT DEVICE < [your_device_name].
      Typically, the device name might be something like "OBDII". Then you will be able to use the app normally.
      Please note that without the ELM327 Bluetooth adapter the app does not work, as there is no way to receive information from your car.

    Is it possible to use the bluetooth connection for audio instead aux?

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Alessio, you can use Bluetooth. However we are going to explain why AUX cable has advantages. 🧐
      Bluetooth compromises the experience when using the Potenza Drive app, as it always has a delay of 0.5 to 2 seconds, and audio codecs decrease the audio quality. 😭
      With the AUX cable, there are no such problems, since it reproduces real-time audio and has higher audio quality. 😎
      Therefore, it's the interface recommended by us whenever available.🚀

      @@PotenzaDrive I have an aux cable but not an obd adaptor if that's good I can still use the app right? With my car

    • @PotenzaDrive
      @PotenzaDrive  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sorrow5816 you always need an OBD-II ELM327 adapter that can read your vehicle's parameters, such as speed, engine rpm, accelerator pedal position, among others. Without an adapter, the Potenza Drive app does not have specific information to be able to generate car sounds. ⚠
      See our list below with all the requirements, and the impact each one has. 👇
      The devices used in the setup have a huge impact on this aspect. By setup we mean:
      ● Car OBD-II protocol
      Only cars with ISO 15765-4 CAN protocol allows real-time sounds. Other protocols are immensely slower.
      ● OBD-II ELM327 adapter
      A good adapter can be up to 3 times faster in acquiring engine information.
      Also, a good adapter achieves more stable communication (without losing packets).
      ● Smartphone/Tablet
      The performance of this device is important to be able to allocate all the necessary resources to the Potenza Drive app so that it can generate sounds in real-time and establish fast communication.
      ● AUX cable
      Playing audio through AUX cable is the only way to get real-time sound. Playing audio via Bluetooth always has a delay of 0.5 to 2 seconds.
      Also the audio quality is worse compared to using AUX cable.

      Hey Marci, thank you very much for your comment! 💯
      In fact, it wasn't easy to get a sound to our liking as this car doesn't even have a very "capable" sound system. But we played with the car radio's audio equalizer to extract the best possible sound. Especially, what helped the most was tweaking the bass sounds. 👌
      Most of the time, in all the vehicles we've tested, leaving the equalizer with the parameters at default values makes the car sounds not so real. 🧐
