Canada's largest trading partner has become unstable, and that was Canada's mistake. Trade deals are meaningless , when it changes with the wind. time for Canada to get its oil and gas, and other products to tide water, on both the east and west coasts. were do Canadians think the bulk of the equalization payments come from???

How about the government in Quebec allow a pipeline to be built across Quebec to allow our Alberta oil to reach tidewater on the east coast of Canada. Quebec is eager enough to accept equalization payments from Alberta but don't want a pipeline across their ' Belle ' province. We could then give the middle finger to Trump.

Canada already exports 150,000 barrels a day to the UK on ships leaving the Houston port. The keystone pipeline comes to Cushing OK and then the oil is put on another pipeline to Houston. It'd be cheaper to just pay us a 25% tariff on that oil and continue exporting through Houston. Canada will continue exporting their oil and we get a little pocket change at the same time.

A Tariff war between nations is a zero-sum game that nobody wins. Impacted consumers and voters should encourage their elected representatives to focus on improved communication and negotiation, as opposed to increasing taxation or deficit spending. Our elected representatives should collaboratively build strategic plans with institutional investors and savvy blue chip private sector organizations to become more productive, cost effective, and nimble enough to diversify their supply chains and target markets to avoid or minimize exposure to tariff wars. The overall objective would be to improve Canada's domestic supply chain resilience. Reducing taxes and state bureaucracy would also help in this regard.

Declare national emergency. Mobilize troops, reserves and contractors to build up 4 or 5 pipelines in three month. Triple our oil production in a couple of years. Double our mineral output. Put 100% tariff on all US import goods. Then we can slowly start to manufacture all products ourselves and diversify our market all over the world. We have the resources and technology knowhow. We can produce everything, from plane , cell phone, computer to AI. I can not think of anything we must to buy from US. It takes guts to make decisive decisions in national crisis. Drill baby drill, dig baby dig, it's time to fully use our resources to save our nation.

There is a solution for military bases. Invite 30 NATO nations to build bases in Canada. We already have some like Germany, US and Sweden. Up it to 30 countries and 60 bases. Their own country pays their soldier salaries. But the soldiers buy Canadian products. Plus, we can add 1 million new troops from all over the world which provides exceptional protection. Canada just donates the land for bases. And give the new army's a deal on products until the base is up and running. I was stationed in Lahr Germany. My gov't paid my salary and I spent my money in Germany. When the base in Lahr shut down, that really hurt Lahr, demonstrating how much Canadians actually spent there. As for the 1 million I talked about, Canada needs to have at least 500,000 new army, navy and air force to be more protected. Should do a call to arms now.

Tesla's largest competitor is BYD, and they're building a plant in Mexico. Maybe they'd be willing to build a plant in Canada. Maybe there should be more competition in the EV space. Trump is a LIAR. If 🇨🇦Canada was smart it would consider joining the EMERGING BRICS ECONOMIES which include China, Russia, India and UAE which is going off the USD.. As it stands now Canada sells 98% of its LNG and 60% of its Natural Resources to the USA for very low prices. The idea that the United States “subsidizes” Canada to the tune of $200 billion annually is an erroneous interpretation of the economic and energy relationship between the two nations. This claim lacks the analytical rigor necessary to withstand scrutiny when we consider the facts. First, Canada is a critical supplier of energy to the U.S., providing a substantial portion of its crude oil and natural gas needs. Approximately 60% of U.S. crude oil imports come from Canada, most notably from Alberta's oil sands, a resource that represents a significant part of Canada's energy production CANADA ENERGY REGULATOR . The United States also imports 98% of Canada’s natural gas, an essential resource that powers homes and industries across the U.S. during the colder months EIA . This energy exchange is a matter of mutual necessity, not a one-sided dependency. The term "subsidy" implies one party is providing financial support to the other. In this context, it is crucial to distinguish between a trade relationship and a financial aid arrangement. The energy Canada provides is not given as a charity or a handout; it is sold at market prices, reflecting the value of the resources being exchanged. The United States, in return, exports over $300 billion in goods to Canada annually, including vehicles, machinery, and technology EIA . This reciprocal trade benefits both economies and underpins millions of jobs on both sides of the border. Furthermore, Canada’s defense contributions are often undervalued in discussions like these. Canada is not merely a passive recipient of American protection; the two countries cooperate through NORAD and share responsibility for the defense of North America. Canada’s military, though smaller than that of the U.S., plays an active role in peacekeeping and global security efforts. The assumption that Canada "FREELOADS" on the U.S. military is therefore logically flawed and ignores decades of joint action. In sum, this claim of a "$200 billion subsidy" does not withstand scrutiny when examined through the lens of facts. Canada’s role as a supplier of essential resources to the U.S. is a mutual exchange, one that supports both economies. Similarly, the defense partnership is based on shared responsibility, not a hierarchical arrangement where one side is a mere recipient of the other’s generosity. Thus, it is neither logical nor accurate to claim that the U.S. is subsidizing Canada in the manner implied by such statements. Instead, the reality is a balanced interdependence, rooted in economic and security cooperation. 🇨🇦

Canadians would be solid Democrat voters. Trump hasn't thought of that. It's more likely that all the Democrat (blue states) would love to be provinces of Canada!

I would recommend our government stop beating their chest and talking tough and negotiate with Trump. He seems reasonable enough and cares enough so stop lying to the people stop the illegal immigration and go negotiate with Trump.
