    During Cine Gear 2024, Tilta introduced a new version of their Mirage matte box: the Mirage Pro. This upgraded model can take up to three 4 x 5.65" filters and comes with a six-stop electronic VND that can be controlled by the Nucleus Nano II wireless follow focus. The Mirage Pro has a swing-away design compatible with 15mm and 19mm rods but can also be attached directly to your lens via the included eleven clamp-on adapter rings from 80 to 136mm.

    I really, really hope this is an E.N.D. That comes to market. Feel like we get to see one of them every couple of years but no one ever can buy one

    I hope they fix few problems:
    -sliding in seem to stuck somewhere. you can clearly see in the video. pulling out and sliding in shows some resistance
    -fix color shift of the VND like in the previsous tilta mirage version
    -fix the motor to freeze after 10min + like in the tilta mirage version in combination with usb-c with DJI RS4
    -fix the motor can not be powered on via usb-c after 10 minutes +
    -find a solution for the vignetting issue (I know it's a general proble of polarisation filter in vombination with wide angle lenses). you can offer 2 VND filters with different ranges
    add support for conrtrol vie DJI Ronin RS 2/3/4

    Hello, Please how long does the set of 2 rechargeable batteries for Mirage last, in normal use without switching off the motor or the remote control ?

    I've had gripes with Tilta on a lot of their products. They've had some misfires for sure. That said, the one product from Titla I recommend (keep in mind I do own a misfit kick 3) is the Tilta Mirage. Hopefully this one holds up and helps creatives get a more professional matte box at an attainable price. Maybe I'll even get lucky and they'll send me a free one because of the misfortune I had that is the Tilta Hydra (one of, if not the worst investments I've made in camera gear).

      you can't fault the mirage on the vignetting for the size, especially because they gave you decent glass and a very attainable price point. People ballin on a budget just had to learn how to correct a bit in post. Not the best matte box but freakin' solid for the price.

    • @TheHamboneGroup
      @TheHamboneGroup 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@buddyfx7026 It's definitely decent for the price point. It's also light. But at a similar price point, the Freewell Eiger doesn't have vignetting and the optics are superior. Albeit, the e-nd is going to be incredible.

    Are the clamp on plate ARRI LMB4 standard just like bright tangerine does with the misfit kick ? They seem to use the same mounting style but curious if its really the same or not.

  • @craigstynardt4990

    Looks like a great solution, higher adjustment compared to ARRI FSND or static Filters in trays like what’s mostly used today. I’m looking forward to renting this and checking the color accuracy. ARRI & Tiffen aren’t easy to beat. I also like that this tilts like an ARRI SMB. A concern would be that USB Port. I’ve seen these break on laptops and consumer electronics way to often. It’s a fast connection but a DIT Station won’t be put trough the same conditions as a camera in the field. Tilta used the standard Lemo that most cameras cater towards on their accessories in the past…

  • @florianropers
    @florianropers 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Looks really promising - I wonder if we would still be able to use those 1x1 / 95mm filters like with the previous model in a tray with it.
    And since this VND is square it must be electronic so very likely there's not going to be any color shifting which would be great.
    Is there an approximate release date for this matte box solution?

      New no, but there is NOTHING over 95mm in this price range, let alone the ability to adapt and build it to your needs. I've been in the market for a matte box over 95mm to fit Atlas Orion's and the prices are outrageous and options are super limited... so good job Tilta for filling a whole in the current market.

    Is it just me or most people don't realize that 6 stops is like having 0 stops? 7 stops on Sony cameras, still not enough. 10 stops is the minimum if you want to use anything bigger than f2.8, but somehow milllions of people are talking about how great Sony VNDs are :) Should we start using these things or we just like talking about specs? :)

      With 3 stages, you can have a 4 stop ND standing by and use it when you're outdoors, and then pull it when going inside; and then still have an available stage for something else. Seems pretty solid to me.

    • @tylerstooksbury3050

      @@sa.t.2507 It's not an every day scenario but at certain times of the year, here in Canada, around noon we can be on basically ND 2.1 with a polarizer. I shoot mainly tv shows and movies but we rarely, if ever, go lower than native ISO (which is usually 800) and we shoot at 2.8 mostly.

      @@CineD Obviously the big news this year is the C400 and GH7 which you’ve already gotten out of the way, and it seems that not much else is happening at CineGear. Such is life. But when your publishing competition beats you out the door by about 10 hours, then it’s probably time to change up the schedule. That’s just good business. Tomorrow I might watch a second video about the Tilta products to see if CineD managed to pick up something different, but putting the same content out within hours means you at the very least missed out on me as a viewer. Take care.
