- I am the idiot who buys more then a Long Box worth of comics at Comic Con and tries to carry them home on the subway haha In this video I hunt for the coolest comic books I can find at New York Comic Con. There were so many amazing Comic Books to see at the Comic Con. Grails, Key Issues, Silver Age Comics, Golden Age Comics, Bronze Age comics and so much more.
Watch as I dig though boxes of comics at the Comic Con and seen which comics I ended up buying.

Sooooooooo many nice books. I'm always amazed that golden-age books can remain in like-new condition for so long.
I know anytime I see Golden Age comics graded in high condition it seems unreal, but its also the reason why they sell for so much.
Amazing haul! Those Plastic Man books awesome! Those Justice League books that you passed had me about to faint.
I know I feel like I should have grabbed those but I think I have most of them already so I had to pass on some stuff just for the sake that I would have to carry it all home on the subway lol. I got about a block away from the con, and hailed a cab before I had a heart attack lol

Hahahah everytime I see Hulk comics in the 170s-190s I hope and pray lol but they are a legit comic vendor so I am sure they would have grabbed that lol

I bought so much this year haha but I Always live by the philosophy by as much as I can if the price is great. And if the price is wrong just dont buy.

Loved the video, mate! Wife and I love collecting back issues. We have slim pickings where we are, and nothing as grand as comic con to be able to head to! Really enjoyed watching a collector get some great stuff!

You remind me of me when I was younger and bought a ton of stuff at every show.
But I was way more organized and always brought my lists so that I instantly knew what issues I needed and those that I already had.

I do most from memory, so the runs I know I am complete on I dont grab much of. For instance I think I only need 3-4 issues left to complete Defenders etc. I should make lists for those runs that are almost done. At the same time I buy so many collections that the super hero stuff I get pretty often so I dont buy it as much. I usually buy the stuff that is not as popular but I still love. That stuff I dont see in collections as often.

Yeah Bronze age comics are some of my favorite to collect, it not my favorite.
Thank you for posting all your superb videos! I spent my life in the sports card industry & had stores, ran 10,000+ shows since the 70's. I retired when I got sick and was widowed in 2012. The most I've ever bought in a day was at a small con, at a 3 for a dollar stand. Got like 250 comics. Really wish I had brought more with me. That was so much fun.
Yeah when you find a booth with $3 books that really should be $5-$20 you just cant stop buying its too hard haha. I have to carry everything home on the subway or taxi so I really have to stop at 100-150 at most, otherwise I kill myself lol I probably could have purchased 1000s more if I had a way to transport more easily.

Lots of great choices. There was an Adventure 431 at about 21:47, 1st Spectre in the series, maybe you passed due to condition. I remember when that Flash 100-page issue was on the stands back then, I passed on it though because a 25-cent Superboy & the Legion was more affordable (bought that instead). Thanks for the video.
I think I have two copies of that Adventure comic in my collection so not really hunting it. Probably should have grabbed it lol but I had the speculator part of my brain turned off and the I need this for my collection part turned on lol

Wow Ziggy, I didn't know you started a separate comics channel at last. I had just been watching Very Gary's channel on his exhibiting at NYCC, which is why I guess TH-cam served your video up. That said, I'm actually surprised you bought so many comics there. I always thought you avoided wizened dealers and only went with the very best deals you got from thrift shops and customers trading at your store. But I see the $3 boxes these dealers have are incredible. My LCS just slaps a $30-$40 price tag on almost anything from the Bronze Age. And yes, always nice to see a few Comics Cons that still actually have...comics!
Yes I got sick of comic videos tanking the main channel which would bum me out since I want to do them all the time. So I finally decided to use my original TH-cam channel and just post comic content here and its been amazing. Definitely be posting comic content way more here now that its own thing going on. And I will buy bargains anywhere I can find them, I spent a small fortune at NYCC this year, but I am also finding an amazing amount of awesome comics for great prices. Yes there is so many over priced booths, but if you look at them all you eventually find the gems hidden away. What I have been doing is the Teen Titans / Aquaman test, I have been trying to put a sets together for a while now (Since I want all the Nick Cardy Covers) so I know the values pretty well off the top of my head. So I check a booths Aquaman / Teen Titan sections and can tell immediately if I will find some awesome stuff for a great price or not. And If I dig into a random $3 box and they show up I know game is on haha

Been watching your vids in prep for a con I'm going to this weekend, and I'd probably die on the spot if I came across a table as good at the one 7 mins in. Loooove me some Bronze Age Marvels!! And Jack Kirby Fourth World books for $2.50??? Insane lol
I Know that table was crazy, and it was the second day if I remember. I could not help myself and bought a long box worth without thinking how the heck will i get them home lol

Loved seeing some Kirby books there. I would've picked up them all up, specially the few OMAC and Machine Man. You got all of those already?

Yes I believe I have most if not all the Omac and Machine man otherwise I would have grabbed those. Anything Kirby is a must own in my book but has been for a long time so I have picked them up over the years. Mostly need to fill in my FF runs now.
@@pop-comics Holy cow! My respects and hat's off to you sir. Not only for having such an amazing collection (how many issues do you have), but for having such good memory to know which ones you have and which ones you're missing.
I try to sort and thin out a few times a year to weed out duplicates but I probably have 70K comics or so. But there is probably 20K duplicates, that is one reason I am trying to make more room for comics in my shop so I can sort them out faster by selling more and making room to put duplicates into the shop lol

They really are, you get to see so many books you might not be able to see normally.

Yeah honestly if I had a car or and a place right by the convention to drop stuff off I probably could have bought so much more. I bought too much haha but the deals were great.

Thank you. Yeah I think its been around a month since I started posting comic videos here instead of my main channel so its still a work in progress but I am racing towards the goat of 1000 subs and 4000 watch hours to get monetized so I will definitely be sprucing up the channel alot pretty soon. First goal was to get content out there that actually gets some views, second goal is to hit those targets. Then hopefully I can do Comic content regularly.

Yes there was some amazing slabs for sale at the con. One day I will buy more haha
I've purchased a long box before. I had a portable cart which I was able to strap to my back and then fold out to handle the long box. It was a hassle to go up down the stairs of the subway but it worked.
haha the crazy things us comic collectors do to get comics home from a convention lol I want to see if they make a high quality back pack that can turn into a rolling cart, that is my goal before the next con.

Good haul! You'll double your money or more on the books not going in the PC.
Yeah I think almost every book I got was worth at least double what I paid. Most going into the PC for now but I am sure I have some duplicates.
Also it’s important to mention the increased space is that they reduced floor space in general to vendors. Plus plenty of some of the heavyweight vendors just didn’t sign on in the first place. I personally couldn’t give my tickets away for free. Do you feel that comics selling aspects of the convention satisfied the comics dealers needs?
I know there was less vendors because the aisle where much wider, did they make the booths smaller for each vendor? I felt like the booths were the same size as normal I had not noticed them being smaller. I personally found so many comics I wanted this year for a good price so I thought it was fantastic. I talked to a few vendors some said they had a banner year, others said it was lower then before but still decent business.

Have you ever considered getting a booth yourself on the con? I bet you could unload a ton of pops there over the weekend. But it's probably crazy expensive to get a booth.
One day I will sell there, to help pay for all the junk I buy but also to have a place to store everything I buy haha
I believe you a bit of a hoarder, but I like what you bought at the convention.
Sure I love to hoard comics they go up in value over time and they bring my so much joy. I also have a pop culture shop that sells a long box or two of comics a month. Not a ton but keeps the hoarder pile from over flowing. I am working on my shop this month to build out the comic section so i can get 10-20K into the shop for sale. Yes, I think about 20-30% less vendors so much wider aisle which was wonderful.

Do you read all of the comics?? That is alot of reading if you do. I guess I never understood collecting comics
I collect because I absolutely love the artwork. And as a collectible the fact that I can read them as well and get additional value and enjoyment out of them makes them so much more fun to collect then a lot of other things. I do read when I can but not as often as I would like.
I dont think I would have had the willpower to not buy all those bronze hulks
I have almost all the Bronze hulks now except for 181 so its easier for me to hold back since I dont need them. Otherwise I would have grabbed all those too haha
So many cheap books in the States, especially east coast. No doubt it would be double the amount or more in Canada, for worse quality. I am taking into account the exchange rate.

Ik im late but I just brought me like 7 comics books not in order well 3 books in order but the rest is random they all dc beside one is marvel don’t like marvel but it was free but I can’t wait to go back to buy some more they had a lot of shit

Not that many, just a handful at this con. I am mostly looking for 10 cent archies and most are graded and too expensive. I did finally find some sweet ones today in the $10-$15 range.

YIKES, You put back some comics from the $3 buck boxes that I would have loved for my collection: MASTER OF KUNG FU (pre #122), KID COLT OUTLAW, INCREDIBLE HULK by LEN WEIN or BILL MANTLO, random BATMANs by DAVID VERN REED and that BATMAN issue where he teams up with The JOKER! I almost had a heart attack watching you pass them up for the BARRY ALLEN FLASH and pre Perez WONDER WOMAN?!

I was only half kidding. I love watching your videos, you`re not obsessed with " keys" or trends but buy either for your shop or your own collection and it's so refreshing! I probably have a bunch of keys in my collection but they're not for sale because I didn't hold onto them for profit anyway! Happy reading...or whatever!
