Hello Mike, really love your new seats, specially the back ones. I got 2- W126, both 1985, one is a 500 SEL, the second a 500 SEC. I really love these cars, they are strong, comfortable, dependable, stout, easy to maintain, and easy to work on, compared to other ones. In fact, I also have 2- W140's, a 94 S350 TD, and a 95 S600. These are not easy cars to work on....too many electronics, too over engineered, they are fantastic automobiles, but much more finicky and high maintenance, than the honest W126's. In my humble opinion, the W126 is the ultimate Mercedes class. It combines the nicetes of modern car design, with the robust teutonic engineering that gave them such long lives. I love them all, for different reasons, but my W126's have a special place. Good luck with yours. It is a wonderful looking specimen!
Monkey Wrench Mike I have fought my S600 limp mode almost for 1 year. I replaced the ECU, E-GAS, LH1 and LH2 modules, both air temp sensors, both O2 sensors, both air mass flow sensors, SRS module, ARS module, the upper and lower harness, and I’m sure a bunch of other stuff I already forgot. I love the car when it works....the V-12 engine is extraordinary. It makes me feel I’m piloting a fighter jet, but it comes at a cost....and it ain’t cheap! There is a guy in Brooklyn NY, whom is a W140 specialist, he’s got a TH-cam channel as well. He fixed my throttle bodies (restored). If you need his info let me know. I also got 4 other old Ladies: 75 Chrysler Imperial w/20k on clock 76, and 77 Cordobas....restored And a 79 VW Cabriolet, now working on it. So, sometimes I feel like Monkey Wrench Jaime..... I’m lucky my Wife did not throw me out yet!!!

A well-cared example like this one pays dividends over a neglected car (SEC). Economy gauge pegged to left shows vacuum is good. Notice you get the SEC seats up front with the 4-place seat option? Grab a color borescope to view the chain guides through the oil filler cap to assess the condition of the guides. Great content/cars, looking forward to the next one!

Congratulations on the W126. I love your backseat features.... my nieces would love that. I have a video on my channel on my 1991 MB 300SEL. Remove your belts and check all the pulleys. The air pump on these vehicles tend to go bad and the last thing you want is snapping of your belts on the road. I would also replace the fuel accumulator, the fuel pump, the fuel filter and all the fuel lines along with the filter in the gas tank (clean up the fuel sender). I would also replace the steering pump filter along with the gasket on the lid. Another thing that will give you peace of mind is changing all the fuel injectors along with the fuel injector holder. Buy an EHA valve for the fuel system just because this tends to go bad as well. Clean out your idle control valve. Clean out your fuel pressure regulator and replace the orings. I love fixing my W126. She is my daily driver over my other vehicles in Chicago. I can’t wait to see future videos on your W126.

Looking good and the rear seats are super cool 👌 The JB weld didn't hold I'm surprised I have used that stuff in oil pans and radiators without a problem .
On the interior panels popping; if there isn't anything loose, spray it with pure silicone. Panels get dry, and the silicone is an excellent moisturizer for panels, no damage... And yes on the shocks, keep it original. After market kits ride like crap in comparison.

Those rear seats are sooo freaking cool ! Now you need to find the oem center console refrigerator! I have only seen two ! If that sound isnt bad bearings in the alternator... and is infact you timing chain guides stop driving it ! Or if it's your cam Oilers fix that also before more driving ! Catastrophic engine failure is no Bueno_!

I have a W124 400E (v8)...I love how comfortable it is to drive!! I think the front seat are the same as W126!! As for the candies, no worries...apparently there is a Planet Fitness at walking distance...LOL :) ;) ( I eat gummy bears everyday!!! )
I love the Mercedes and I love big comfy classics. I have a 92 Lincoln that needs a lot of work and I can't force myself to get rid of it. I just may fix her up, she still runs and shifts well.
your idle seems right!! you might want to replace the plugs if it a little rough . I gap my plugs on my W124 400E at 1 mm instead of 0.80 mm : car runs actually better!!!
For the steering wheel switch,,, if you push it it will show a small hole where you can spray some electric approved lube spray , just a small little touch , then it will be fine ,,, great car take care of it please
Sometimes Alternators make that noise when the bearings are going out. Or maybe the belt tensioner not sure about that I am not that close to it to hear were its coming from. You didnt put the Jb weld on consistently. It was too thin in that spot add some more to that spot. Were you about out of JB weld when you did the job it was too sparingly applied. Try putting a good blob on that leaky spot you just didnt put enough it was not enough.
Mike contrary to popular belief, a lot of people, myself included, don't know the internal model numbers for the Mercedes nor the BMW cars. When you put W126 in the title instead of the year and 560SEL, I don't know what car it is as I expect most people don't. Had a similar rattling on both my m103 and om605, both caused by the aux belt damper

Check those brake pads. Worn brakepad warning light seems to be on. Check your tires, if one of them has broken belt and bump that makes that noise.

Still love the big 560's.
Additionally, do a transmission service. Pull the pan, replace the filter and refill the fluids. It’ll make a world of difference!
