    In this video, we cover a new topic on Cisco's ENCOR (350-401) exam, and it's VXLANs (Virtual Extensible LANs). We'll see that we have many more VXLANs available, as compared to VLANs. Also, you'll see how a VXLAN can span a Layer 3 boundary.

    Can now see how multicast has its role in vxlan, read this over and over in OCG but a few minutes watching this video and light bulb moment :-)

    • @davidec8869
      @davidec8869 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Consider that multicast is the Cisco way to map VNIs to VTEPs. For example, Cumulus Linux uses EVPN type-3 advertisements.

    A little question
    It is written that VLAN 10 mals to VNI 10010
    This means that I have to map a VLAN for each VNI, so I don't understand where I obtain more VLANS

    Still did not quite get the benefit, so a layer 3 switch can route across vlans with SVIs and these are layer3 switches... So.. Why VXLAN and not just traditional routing?

    Thanks for the video. It explains this topic nicely. One question, won't the ARP tables (or whatever the equivalent is named) grow exponentially? Other than LISP, are there methods to reduce this?

    Can I do this sort of set up where my spine and leaf switches are a set of virtual distributed switches? What sorts of constraints and restraints would be on that approach, assuming it's even possible?
