  • The extremely rare Kaiser Willy’s Jeep M38 A1….the Pride of Chitora owned by the famous, popular, hospitable and ever smiling - Munna Mian. This is by far the best running jeep that has been reviewed on the show - also referred to as the Willy's MD and the civilian cousin / sibling known as the CJ 5.
The M38 A1 was the restyled body by Willy’s, primarily the rounded hood and fenders. Other features among others incl. a 24-volt electrical system. The battery box is located on the passenger side cowl under the windshield and the glove box is located on the driver side dashboard.
The Willys M38A1 was produced from 1952-1971, with a production total of approx 101K - 80K in the US / 21K Exported.
Direction and Video credit to Mirza Shamsher Khan, Ayaan Ali and Zeyn Ali. All budding directors in the making. Vote of thanks to my elder brother Omar Ali for putting the shoot together and choosing some of the music.

I m so proud of my mamu . He is always been in love with this jeep and a special thanks to Rashid sir who put in a great effort to make such a wonderful video on M38 A1 kaiser jeep . Its a true and a rare gem of history which is maintained spectacularly.

Thank you for your generous compliments. I am just trying to catalogue the passion and hard work jeep enthusiasts have to keep and maintain such rare and stunning Jeeps. More importantly to keep them running and using them. The average age of these jeeps is 65+ years and to have then working and running like a dream needs to shown and showcased. As i said - Hats off to Munna Mian for the passion and josh - Wonderful

Fantastic video. Probably the best video I've seen so far regarding the M38A1. It's very nice to see the practical modifications and to see these Jeeps used everyday. This is the first time I've seen the side plug demonstrated.

Yes this Jeep is used day in and day out - all originals have been preserved and it modified for practicality so that it just doesn't become a show piece. The fun and joy is to use these tough beasts and that how you get to know the car - appreciate it and love it even more.
Please do keep watching and sharing - made my day...Thank You

Absolutely sir. At least you got to touch the legendary M38A1. I saw one in US at a display that was 20 feet away.
I have a 1953 willy's sir. took 7 months to restore it. It is my dream to buy and restore an MB, a GPW, an M38 and this LEGENDARY M38A1 🙌🙌🙌
I am learning more through your videos than all my own research combined through the internet sir. Your videos are future reference guides for prospective enthusiasts who are kids now 👍 These jeeps go down in history as the ONLY perfect combination of design art, purposeful engineering, and affordability sir. I mean, the SR71 blackbird also fits into this category, but how many of us could fly it? Leave alone affording it or US govt selling it 🙏

Indeed its a mixture of passion, patience, dedication. Munna Mian - the
restorer, friend and elder I noticed takes deep care of everything he owns, not just jeeps - the tractors, the trolleys, other cars - the pride and joy in his machines is ever so evident. Your line is just so apt "Work like a labour , live like a King! Love it!"
The M38 A1 was the restyled body by Willys, primarily the rounded hood and fenders.

@@BhopaliTales True indeed. That line is taken by me from that lovely trolley only which was attached to the Jeep. I am sure other viewers might have also noticed it. I was more than impressed to see that wonderful piece of engineering and that too restored to perfection by Munna Mian. I loved several aspects of it as pointed out by you such as generator, cute looking exhaust and that lovely gun rest inside. I too restored my 1967 Black Ambassador and I know how labour intensive job it is. Unless emotions are involved no one would care so much. I equally loved the white Premier Padmini you restored. Kudos to you for bringing these beautiful machines online.

      2) The current engine powering the M38 A1 is the Isuzu G1 2.4L Engine (Non-turbo) made in Japan producing 6000 RPM with a four forward gear box (Isuzu) 4×4! . Both the differentials are customized according to the need of the owner...
      3) The Snorkel is totally customized for better intake, this is referred to as Jugaad in Bhopali terms.
      4) Other general info - Koito sealed Beams. Ramsay winch which is converted from mechanical to hydrolic (again jugaad). GE extra lights on the left side of Bumper and original blackout light on the left fender.

Fuel lid cap is not of m38a1, throttle is placed on ignition switch plate, ignition is placed on fording cable, labelling diagram is of m38 and not of m38a1 .... A well restored jeep but can be done better

    • @BhopaliTales
      @BhopaliTales  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks for watching and your comments - This M38 A1 is equipped with genuine parts as most of the parts of M38 & M38A1 are similar and interchangeable so there are two types of fluid caps that came in M 38A1. If you share your email I can send you the pics. The throttle cable has been fitted according to convenience. I will also send the pics of the labelling diagram. Once again thanks for watching and yes restoration is an ongoing process and one constantly continues to learn.
Actually restoration is an on going process with no time frame sometime it is very painful knowing about correct parts which part will fit in particular model is matter of knowledge and research sourcing correct parts is also equally important.

Thanks for watching Sir and glad you liked it - this is one of the best M38 A1's by far. It does wonders and goes to places where your Wranglers and Hummers will fail. I have not driven anything better when it comes to Off-roading.
These jeeps are restored only from the HEART. When it comes to restorations only 2 kind of people exist "the cowards and the fools". Most restorers fall in the latter category. The only difference with this M38 A1 is that not only does it work but its used and its used day in and day out.

Thanks for watching Sir - the M38 A1 commands a little premium due to very few made compared to other models. I would not be able to put a price as it depends on too many variables.

Thanks for watching Sir - In principle I agree with, having said that this Jeep is used day in and day out - All originals (engine / differential etc.) have been preserved and are with the Owner. It has been modified for practicality so that it just doesn't become a show piece. The fun and joy is to use these tough beasts and that how you get to know the car - appreciate it and love it even more.
