This is a fantastic video! What an auspicious lunch into adulthood you have had! TH-cam is such an incredible resource. You should definitely continue sharing your thoughts and experiences as much as you can. Even if you’re replicating content from somewhere else, you were adding your own thoughts and experience and have your own unique audience. I really appreciate your college stories. It’s also interesting to see all the thoughtful comments. Have a great weekend!
@@NanetteLoves2Budget this was such a sweet comment and very motivating for my TH-cam journey! I definitely want to have more conversational videos adding my perspective from my unique financial background. Thank you for watching and I hope you have a great rest of the weekend! 🫶💙🫶
OK sorry I’m back lmao - I 100% agree how terrible the whole individual contributor to manager pipeline is. So many people are great ICs then are just god awful managers, because that is not their skill set!!! Sadlythe places I’ve worked becoming a manager was the only way to “progress” in your career, regardless of fit.
These things seem so obvious I feel crazy when there is not a better system in place already??? Here's to hoping our generation can make it make sense for one. Thank you for watching and all the thoughtful comments 🫶
you have your shit together, you'll accomplish everything you wish. There is no short-cut for experience and you just need to keep putting in your time and it will come. I'm a firm believer that great managers aren't built they're born. It's not for everyone and high performers can have a hard time letting go. I can't imagine talking or thinking like you when I was your age though, but wish I did.
@@chocOneOOne I’m trying very hard to have my shit together but I’m far from it. Finances are one area for me that I tend to have together bcuz it’s quantitative and that works very well with my mind. I definitely have been training my management skills for decades now as an older sister to younger brothers 🤣 I’m only able to figure things out from learning from all the people before me so I’m really grateful and hope I can help speed up some learning for others! Thank you for watching :))
Yess I LOVE hearing the explanations!! Please continue sharing! Stock benefits and tech company benefits in general always confused me, but it's not something I ever thought to research haha. So it's nice to learn things that I otherwise wouldn't have sought out for myself. I learn so much from watching your videos! I love this "beyond the budget" style of video (though I love watching your "boring" budgets as well)! Your passion and personality came OUT in this video and I'm here for it! You definitely are one of my financial role models! It's because of YOU that I shifted my investing mindset this year and now I'm on track to invest $50,000! You motivate the hell out of me! I will watch any video you take the time to make.
@@cointrolfreak I’ve been enjoying the beyond the budget style videos a lot too. You are so sweet. Honestly you are the financial role model of the season! I’ve been hearing you mentioned by so many new YNAB channels. As always I love watching your videos and I hope you are so proud of not only your accomplishments but also your ability to inspire people!
Adding another comment as I continue to watch 😂 I know what you mean by feeling like your budget is boring, I’ve also been thinking about adding larger, more existential? Contemplative? Money topics into my video. That story about being coded as an ‘international student’ checks out unfortunately. I just left financial aid as a profession but the school I worked for did not offer financial aid to this student population, and in addition they even required them to prove they had enough money in the bank to pay for 4 years of schooling before they were admitted. It was wild. I feel you on already being at a top company for your field. I had the same issue in my last profession 😅 all the employers I looked at paid even less for more work, so I knew I had to leave because I was already as high as I could go in the company and everyone above me was a few decades from retiring. Girllll I feel you on reading books is a short cut to getting ahead. OK I will stop live blogging my reactions now 😂
Haha I feel you on commenting as I watch. I was doing that on your last video then youtube discarded my comment and I just gave up 🤣 Now I see the secret is sending out your comments more frequently. I love it 🥰 I would also love to hear more on money topics from you! I was looking exclusively at schools that did provide financial aid for internationals but I wasn't paying close enough attention to whether they were need-blind and not just need-based and my college guidance counselors didn't know because they usually don't deal with kids who need financial aid. College is definitely a business and I get that the math may not work out if you are need-blind but trust me this school had the endowment for it so it was a complete shock! But yes my family members outside of the US who are trying to go to school here had to submit that kind of financial documentation. I was a very weird case because I went to school in America my whole educational career so I was in a middle ground of what international student rules I had to follow. WILD TIMES I could not go back.
As an "international student" it was very difficult to accept that I wouldn't qualify for financial aid like the rest of my friends. I'm still very grateful with the education and help I got in CA. But that whole process is crazy and there are so many things/rules one doesn't know about. You are in a great position! I've stopped caring about income and promotions 😅
@@minimalmiss oh wow it’s crazy how small the ynab community is but how many parallels you can find with other ynabbers. Were you an international student all throughout college? The fact that you managed that and are debt free now is so inspiring!
@@sinnamonstory There was a law called AB540 where I believed I qualified for in state tuition but with no financial aid and I took the community college route as a non-resident student. Finally got residency to apply for the last year🎉
My company's vesting schedule is considered to be back-loaded (which incentivizes staying longer). So I got a smaller vest last year (~$7k gross) and going forward I will be getting larger vest every 6 months. The smaller vest was balanced out with my signing bonus which I was getting paid out biweekly.
