If ever an interviewer deserved a raise, it's this guy. He expressed a deep understanding for Dan's work, and respectfully challenged his ideas to refine them. Bravo.
Fantastic interview! Super deep and not at all like most news-type stuff. Would love to see more pieces executed like this. Just authentic and unfiltered conversations between intelligent people
I have never witnesed a better or smarter talk between two human beings in my entire existence... just two really smart pople sharing ideas... amazing!
"Oh, you're talking about Scientology." 😂 Ari's skill as a lawyer really shine in pinning down Dan's tendency manically to wax rhapsodical in an unfocused, albeit brilliant way.

"Struggling with identity" is just another way of saying "struggling with trust." When people say they "trust" something/someone, most times what they're actually saying is they trust their OWN ability to predict what that something/someone will do. Having real capital-T Trust in another entity is fundamentally irrational, a leap of faith, but it's what's necessary to create one's own identity. Relying entirely on one's own personal logic to get through life makes everything you "trust" contingent, which then makes your identity contingent, which calls into question the very existence of your identity. You have to draw a line in the sand, so to speak, else risk be a Morty in this scenario.
20:05 look up statistics on suicide by occupation. Plumbers are amongst the most suicidal and professionals amongst the least suicidal. You're generalizing something off of what you read from existentialists and from your own neurotic propensity. I don't think epistemologists, physicists, mathematicians, historians, and medical doctors are all that suicidal, and those are quite great giants in terms of what's concerned.
The higher the ego, the lower the rate? I'd say, based on the data - Wholesale Trade, Finance, Office and Administrative Support, Education, etc. are the lowest
I can tell this conversation is too deep for the shallow audience cable news has cultivated for itself, judging by the comment section. Anyway, keep inviting people on the spectrum, keep elevating the discourse. Best from a Mexican fellow Asperger's!

for real, this guy did his homework. top notch journalist. as soon as the campbell clip came up I scrolled down to comment something similar.
Woah, a surprisingly great interview.
Thanks for uploading, it's fun to watch someone go toe-to-toe with Harmon.
THANK YOU for listening to us and releasing the unedited version. Dan in all his self depreciating glory
p0ppp
And simultaneously self aggrandizing. "What do they get right about you?" "That I think I'm better than them"
"Success means you've done it wrong enough" - this is brilliant.
Still one of the best interviews I ever listened to. Great recovery mode after deeply diving into Rick and Morty at a bad time
god bless Ari on this -- a masterclass of moving a conversation without overly guiding it
Skillful interview. Really appreciate the insight and restraint of the host.
This is one of the greatest interviews ever.
Dan Harmon appears to be a lot more sane than I would expect the creator of Rick and Morty to be. 😂
you'd think differently if you listened to his podcast...
Although in some ways the podcast is him slowly journeying closer to being sane! @@bedheadreal

Dan is so brilliant. Love to see him being appreciated.
@Frogger a strange stance to take, but no I would have to disagree. Nearly everyone I talk to know his shows, but very few know who he is.
I have never witnesed a better or smarter talk between two human beings in my entire existence... just two really smart pople sharing ideas... amazing!
At 48:49 they talk about Rick & Morty being the same person via time travel but that theory was thrown out when fans theorize that was the case😊
Great interview.

Tendency manically? Those words don’t go directly together this sentence made my brain die for a minute

at 40min, bringing up the Rick "hologram" saying he is a God once he has mass and becomes tangible, would've been a great example.
5:20 omg he does the non-toxic Morty finger guns, this is a gesture directly from Morty!
@Frogger i bet you care. you unironically recognized it, and liked it.
you even cared enough to comment about it
"you are definitely more Andre 3000" cracked me up

First timer. Dan is so deeeep, you could drown in his thought process.
So good
This is so funny! What a joy to listen to!
This was good

My guy loves the word "entropy".
Anybody got an idea when this was recorded?
Around 7 - 8 months ago (I think).
Fantastic :)

It’s funny. Some people love the creativity of the show until they can’t understand or are unwilling to except differences of the creator.
Wow. If you have to put yourself above other people like that you may have a self-esteem issue.
I am surprised his intro doesn't mention community.

Not at all what I thought it was going to be like 🤣🙊🙉🙈👽
