When Akito was cutting Rin's hair and said that she should go into exile or else Haru would lose his eyesight, that really reminded me of the original Rapunzel story where the Prince was blinded and Rapunzel was sent away after her hair was cut by the sorceress. I wonder if the author intended to reference that
Remember in S2 Beach Arc, was the first time Hiro received news that his mom was pregnant. Now the baby is born. Yeah the time in Fruits Basket moves faaaaast
I believe that what Akito does not understand is the true meaning of love. She has this idea in her head that she was "born to be loved" because her father told her so. It is interesting that her father was the one who told her so and not her mother, only the father felt love for her child. I think Ren is jealous of her own daughter because she "stole the attention of her husband" after she was born and to get revenge, she decided to raise Akito as a man. And Akito's distorted image of love is what drives her to do everything she does. She doesn’t understand that what her father told her cannot apply to everyone. You cannot receive love without giving love. When Kureno spoke with Tohru and explained her about that emotion of "love" that they felt as children (Kureno, Ayame and Shigure) it felt as an emotion something aside from them felt it. Akito believes members of the zodiac should love her for being part of the zodiac excluding them as individuals with their own feelings. I’m sure the story will try to redeem Akito’s actions and I understand where is she coming from but I can’t forgive how much pain she has caused until now... This is a looong comment and I hope you understand it 🤣
In the manga Akito tells Rin “I never want HARU to see you ever again. So you have two choices: Stay here forever or I gouge Haru’s eyes.” That’s why she brought up Haru. Edit: Girl your ears are TOO GOOD. It is Momiji at the end. Deeper voice and no accent.
This is why I can't fully blame Akito for how she acts, because those around her are just as messed up and encourage her attitude. As soon as Akito was born she was told she was born to be loved by the zodiacs, even before she was born the zodiacs loved her. Her father pushed this narrative and so did everyone that looked after her, the only one that didn't was Ren because she hated Akito. It's no wonder why Akito doesn't know right from wrong because no one tells her what she's doing is wrong. I think Shigure was one of the first people to challenge her views even though he loves her. Should Akito get what she deserves and be punished? Yes. Should she get help and therapy? Also yes.
About Akito's ability to tell right from wrong: It doesn't exist. She has no moral compass whatsoever, being told she can do whatever she wants to anyone, that the zodiac solely exist to serve her, that she can never do wrong. The servants likely have been telling her as such from an impressionable young age, educating her when her own mother neglected her. Akito is hated by Ren, who stated she wants to die to join Akira. Now from this episode we learn how Ren views children and her own daughter Akito as either "useful" or not ("No good children are no good"). Moreover, she "decreed" that Akito grows up as a man; stripping her of her own identity. Akira died and after that Akito has never again experienced actual love for who she is. Desired by Shigure, feared by most zodiacs, pitied by Kureno, hated by her mother, used by the servants. No wonder she is so warped and everyone let her be - until sweet boy Momiji was the first zodiac to ever defy her (Beach Arc).
Your reactions always spot on haha 😅 I think the whole community was rooting for Haru punching Akito even us manga readers who knew it was not happening
As for the time jump question, Rin has been missing/locked up about 3-4 months. She sees Tohru & Kureno around early January, as it’s right after New Years. Last episode was graduation, which is typically in March. And now Hiro is in middle school and the kids are back at the high school, so it’s April. It’s not THAT obvious how long it’s been in the show, but yeah. She’s been gone a good while.
Seriously? So four months have passed since the start of the season? Man, time does move fast in Fruits Basket. Also Rin has been through so much, so I’m glad she at least has Haru.
You can tell that when Kureno said, "Go. Don't come back." it wasn't because he was mad and wanted to defend Akito. It was more like advice like, "Don't make my mistake and stick around. Get out of here before her tears make you stay.". Akito was right there so of course he couldn't say it.
Also a notable "blink and miss it" moment with Ren and little Rin in 14:48 "I've always hated her. Viscerally." : This is the shot where in Rin's story last season Ren asked her "you have a happy family, right Isuzu-chan?" leading Isuzu to question her parents behaviour afterwards because it seemed like a play to her "Are you really happy all the time? Is there nothing that makes you sad?" resulting in her parents losing their composure. However, if Ren instigated the whole thing is another question...
I think what Haru meant by : "It makes me want to kill you and me." was that talking about what happened to Rin and *why* it happened makes him feel so guilty he'd rather kill himself too after he made sure Akito would never be able to hurt her ever again. In a way, both "causes" of Rin's current misery would disappear for good.
The way that cottage is made out to be this horrible place when another zodiac is put through being locked up there, but the zodiacs are so casual knowing that's where Kyo's destined to be for the rest of his life after graduation just because he is the cat says so much abt how messed up and complicated this whole thing is and just portrays how hypocritical humans really are at the end of the day

Yes. She doesn't understand because at a very young age she was more or less isolated and idolized because of her "birth position" . Her parental figures were not in her life. Her mother was jealous of her and viewed her as competition when it came to Akira and forced her to grow up as boy and my guess she also either never went to school or was home schooled. So a lack of socialization and the only people she could socialize with were the zodiac, which were never on good terms because she had to play "comforter" in the beginning as a kid and later latched onto it as toxic dependence, general isolation, lack of parental figures, idolization, fear from others, being forced to be the gender you're not, constantly being sick and fear of being abandoned again, she doesn't get it. That's why Shigure plays his hand as hard as he does. He is the only one who can stand toe to toe with her and show no fear and show her the ugliness of actual human relationships and consequences, because his whole goal is to bring her into the world of human relationships. He's the only one who makes her feel an ounce of the results of her actions, while Hatori and Kureno just handle her gently as a frightened child that lashes out, Shigure handles her as an adult who he knows has alot of anxiety and insecurities. Are his methods great? No, but you'll see eventually no one forces her to make the decision she ultimately decides because learns to process her emotions.
Akito is God. She thinks there is no right from wrong. She's been raised to believe she gets to decide what is right and wrong. Look at what the old maid said to Kureno. "Anything Akito-san wants." Kureno... "Go, Haru. And don't come back." Keeping him from making the same mistake that Kureno did. And "Isuzu wants to see you." "Arisa wants to see you.", Tohru told him. T-T Ahd Hiro, too, who has grown so much...
Akito is like super duper desperate to the point she doesn’t care what happens anymore as long as their bond is still there. Tho i feel like she wanted to kill rin prolly because she didn’t like her cuz u kno girls has something against other girls. Rin at the end reminded me of how she acts like a child because of haru and how she only wants haru happiness. And also im glad hiro realises his own mistake and apologies cuz well anything can happen in our puberty phase
At this point I personally kinda hate Akito's environment more than her lol This whole damn family can rot in hell. It just makes me so frustrated that they all enabled and encouraged her behaviour (with shigure and kureno on top tbh), isolated her and never taught her ANYTHING and now everyone is like pikachu face lol Especially Kureno. Shigure is generally a pretty awful and manipulative guy but Kureno is supposed to be like this male Tohru or smth. I love the guy, i really do, and I know he is a victim of this system too but bro you have no curse on you. No supernatural being in you telling you to fear akito or obey her. You should have taken that opportunity to at least try and teach her. Instead his kindness was actually a selfish pity that indirectly caused harm to a lot of people.
Don't know if you saw it in theatre's yet, but the demon slayer movie got leaked on PS4 and it's already on anime sites so if you were interested in watching in 1080p it's there
In the manga, it showed them slowly growing. The anime didn't do a good of a job as the manga did in that aspect. In episode 2, Momiji was supposed to be as tall as Tohru, but they still made him shorter.
I really recommend watching Vivy Fluorite Eye's Song, it's my favorite from this season. It's so good. it's an anime original, created by the authors of Re:zero and chaos child. Not gonna stop till i get a video of your reaction
Akito embodies 2 cliches that can be summed up in 2 phrases. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Hurt people hurt people. I believe Kureno gets both of these character flaws in Akito and I applaud his stepping in and taking over. His soft version of scolding is... impressive and, honestly, kinda lackluster. I get his feeling of responsibility towards her, but his habit of enabling her whims is gonna take some time to shake off. It will most likely cause a snap in Akito's inner and outer worldview. So glad Rin is rescued and Haru made serious strides towards basically giving Akito 'the hand'. Hiro is really maturing and did me PROUD this episode!
fruits basket is probably my fav of this season only very very very slightly over to your eternity they're basically on the same level for me in different ways but I love fruits basket it's such a great drama/romance
Love your reaction vid!🥰 I'm now looking forward to more of your future videos. HaruXRin are the hottest, best looking, and best dressed couple of this show! Love ❤❤❤ them so much! Kudos to Kureno for saving the day! 👏 Go Dark Haru! Akito deserved this! Haru should have punched the old hag who was tolerating Akito's bad behavior. Cant wait for the next ep.
I don't think Akito knows right from wrong, the way the old lady talked shows it, they just let her do what she wants, they don't even correct her even in a good way
I think Akito doesn't know right from wrong because she had never been told no due to her being the "god" from the zodiac story. All the maids never deny anything she says to do, her fathers dying words were "you were born to be loved" putting that belief in her head and the only time she's started getting rejected and told her actions are bad was recently since Kureno (very VERY briefly), Shigure, Yuki, Kyo and Tohru. She so desperately clung to Kureno after his curse broke and wasn't told no so that just fueled her bad comprehension of it.
Haru was the only character that got me hyped up. Fucking stand up for your fucking selves!!!!!!!! I’m so annoyed every episode to see characters not doing anything. There was not even a single moment of when someone actually slapped Sligo and get her senses right.
I think Akito's behavior comes from literally what you said. No one teaches her right from wrong. Ever since she was born she was taught to be this god that everyone loves, and if they show any other sign other than that then you need to "punish them". Akito in her mind thinks that what she's doing isn't wrong and that everyone should love her regardless. And her hateful mother doesn't help anything either. Her father is the one that pushed that ideology into her mind. Of course that doesn't necessarily exuse her actions because they were messed up, but it gives a lot of reasoning as to why. This actually applies to a lot of "evil" characters in anime.
Akito is an extreme case of a spoiled brat. Her whole life she's never been told no or that she's in the wrong. That nagging ass old biddy and even the four eldest zodiac just let her do whatever she wants, mix that in with her natural bad temper and now we have twisted bundle of evil and negativity. I fully believe Akito can be redeemed, but she has a lot of groveling to do before then.
Heyyy! I've noticed almost all reactors are posting their reactions to the demon slayer movie behind pay walls and most people cant actually see them, and I know you probably can't post the reaction on here, so I was wondering what your plan with the film was?(I'd also recommend the sub of the movie over the dub). Also if your not gonna react to it I totally understand!
The belief instilled in Akito, from her father (followed by enabling of her staff/Kureno), make Akito's living by her own flawed dictates somewhat of a generational curse *OUTSIDE* of the actual 'bond' of the Zodiac. That 'old hag' maid is TOXIC, set in her ways and, most likely, is gleefully holding onto the power and prestige generations of serving the Soma clan, in her particular position, affords. She *CONSTANTLY* oversteps her station in life, IMHO. Her view of the Zodiac bond comes off as an almost *DESPERATE* urgency to have everyone conform to the status quo...and it's just plain *INSULTING* how she views them as ornamental--I *daresay* EXPENDABLE--slaves to Akito. 🤦🏽♀️😒 I'm pretty sure the other servants, who see to Ren, are deep into her factions, too. I wonder how many show false loyalty, though, to avoid Ren's retaliation. I believe they *ALL* see she's somewhat unhinged.
Yeah she literally doesnt understand right from wrong but thats literally how she was raised and thats why she is still like a child and cant handle certain situations
Finally haru knows what happened and did you see haru freaking pissed off face he was not playing he was going to freaking punch akito for hurting rin and I would have loved to see that
I feel like it will break if they don't care about akito or it is not their first priority anymore something like that maybe or they go against akito's orders. Also the old grandma is getting in my nerves more than stupid akito Idk i feel when he said he want to kill himself he meant because he kind off couldn't help rin at the beginning and didn't know about what happened maybeeeee
Supposedly, yes. But, even if we conclude that the zodiac members can have romantic relationships, They can't be touchy with their partners, remember? They will transform if an opposite sex hug them. Also, there's the zodiac spirit that partially control the member's mind. In other words, they couldn't ignore nor betray Akito themselves even if they want to. . Prove : Despite his urge to see Rin, there's a high chance Haru might turn back and ho to Akito's side, since her voice keep resounding in his head. (Thank god, Kureno stops Haru though)
It's fine if you never forgive Akito's actions even after the whole series are done. The back story is just to let you know what shaped Akito into the person she is today.
I hate fact that no one, NO ONE tell Akito that she is fucked up. Haru is the only one who fight for happines for Rin. Everyone else don't do anything. She almost killed Rin and the other zodiacs did NOTHING. I started thinking that everyone there are kinda psyhopats
I think they were told that it was an accident by what Hiro tells Haru. It seems like the people at the main house were really fighting to keep it under wraps
I think Akito is sad that she is a girl? Because in Japan God is a man so that might be why Akito was raised as a male and her father (Aka the previous God) was the only one who was ok with Akito being a girl so Akito keeps saying help me Father (btw Akito calls her mom woman and her dad father #respectforfather)
Everyone keep blaming ren for what happen to akito but I think the major culprit who lead her high & mighty with "god complex" was her father. Even when she was born, her father start putting an image about she was special, she was the god, everyone waiting for her, every zodiac love her, every zodiac worship her... I knew it's not wrong because she's indeed a god & special but he need to teach her about how to love others for her to be love, how to cherish others for her to be cherished, what is wrong & what is right...someone need to knock some sense into her... the old hag maid was even worst, after akito's father died, she's the one who kept putting so many bullshit into akito's mind...really hate her..
I don't think Akito has any real conception of right vs wrong. Not like she ever went to school, or associated w/ anyone outside these sohma maids and the zodiacs.
No, Akito doesn't really get it. To her, she is GOD and God can do as they please. To her, she doesn't understand why putting Rin in the Cat's Room is a big deal, she's planning on putting Kyo there within a year's time, like all the cats' before him. What's the difference putting another zodiac there? It's starting to show now that the curse is a systemic problem, not just the God on top.
@@paulbrown2594 you don't have to empathize with Akito. Her backstory is just to tell us what shaped Akito into who she is. This is only the beginning of revealing Akito's past, enjoy the ride ;)
You LITERALLY have my understanding of akito. I understand people have been saying that her mother is so fucked up. But girl...you pushed this girl out a window in a attempt to kill her. You locked her away for days with no food or water....and your confused as in to why people blame you? You sounds really sick
Major respect for my man Haru for being one of the few zodiac members to call out Akito on her abuse. Seeing her shocked face was so satisfying

My mans was not playing bout his girl..PERIODTTTTTT AS HE SHOULD
Akito is the best portrayal of a narcissistic abuser I've ever seen in fiction, just saying. Fruits Basket is sooo underrated. 😭
We literally have the same reactions every time! I was fanning myself over black haru too! 🥵
Akito is God. She thinks there is no right from wrong. She's been raised to believe she gets to decide what is right and wrong. Look at what the old maid said to Kureno. "Anything Akito-san wants."
Kureno... "Go, Haru. And don't come back." Keeping him from making the same mistake that Kureno did. And "Isuzu wants to see you." "Arisa wants to see you.", Tohru told him. T-T
Ahd Hiro, too, who has grown so much...
I’ve been refreshing for this 👏🏾 LOVED this episode
Fun fact, the old maid hates Ren for a particular reason.
Ren hates the main Sohma family for similar reason.
I cried 2 times in this episode
Piece of advice, you might wanna prepare a lot more tissues for future episodes.
This is only the beginning of everything :)
Also I cannot for the life of me figure out why tf this family has so much beef with Isuzu
Don't know if you saw it in theatre's yet, but the demon slayer movie got leaked on PS4 and it's already on anime sites so if you were interested in watching in 1080p it's there
Haru had enough of akito's shit👏👏👏
Waited for whole day when you upload I check the notifications
I feel happy for rin ! Akito is really crazy
Akito mom is a B for setting that all up just to piss off akito and hurt rin in the process.
I feel like now if akito tried to stab Haru’s eyes, he would overpower her. Especially now
There's a season 3?!?!? Where do I watch it?
Animekisa
@@tokiikou3162 man I watched something on there before and then I got this spam on phone. I will give it another try but it annoyed me so much.😞
@@flower_sunshine2021 I hope it works :) animedao can work too .. (For the most part)

I got a question why do hiro and kisa look so old now was there a time skip or something
There definitely was. Hiro's mom was just pregnant in the previous episodes and now Hiro's baby sister has been born.
I don't think Akito knows right from wrong, the way the old lady talked shows it, they just let her do what she wants, they don't even correct her even in a good way
Fun fact,
The old lady is using Akuto for revenge on her personal grudges as well.
@@cathyjuly6275 sheesh, with how she spoke it sounds like it, how awful
You’re right that’s Momiji
So are you gonna watch the demon slayer movie because its out in some pirate website.
Yo how much time has passed since season 2😹 Hiro's mom already gave birth.
16:38 lmao girl 😂
Demon slayer movie is out I watched it and it was SOO GOOOD I CANT WAIT FOR U TO WATCH IT I RATE 10/10
You should react to Vivy Flurite Eye’s song (animated by wit studios) great great show
Akito is an extreme case of a spoiled brat.
Akito is the "God". Akito is entitled. Akito is a victim of abuse. Sadly, Akito is not just a villain but also a victim.
As I've said, and what y'all should have known for years, Haru is bestest boy.
Finally haru knows what happened and did you see haru freaking pissed off face he was not playing he was going to freaking punch akito for hurting rin
and I would have loved to see that
I wanna see Lalafluffbunny React to Demon Slayer Movie Mugen Train cuz it's already out
hell yeah i'm waiting
love it
I feel like it will break if they don't care about akito or it is not their first priority anymore something like that maybe or they go against akito's orders. Also the old grandma is getting in my nerves more than stupid akito
Idk i feel when he said he want to kill himself he meant because he kind off couldn't help rin at the beginning and didn't know about what happened maybeeeee
Haha, in that case, you might need to hold your temper very well.
That old grandma plays partial role shaping Akito into who she is today.
(Akito) She can have love from the zodiac but doesn’t mean it has to be romance so ppl from the zodiac members can still have relationship right
Supposedly, yes.
But, even if we conclude that the zodiac members can have romantic relationships, They can't be touchy with their partners, remember?
They will transform if an opposite sex hug them.
Also, there's the zodiac spirit that partially control the member's mind.
In other words, they couldn't ignore nor betray Akito themselves even if they want to.
.
Prove :
Despite his urge to see Rin, there's a high chance Haru might turn back and ho to Akito's side, since her voice keep resounding in his head.
(Thank god, Kureno stops Haru though)
@@cathyjuly6275 yea I’m just referring to in between zodiac members .
Currently I can not forgive Akito for what she’s done.
It's fine if you never forgive Akito's actions even after the whole series are done.
The back story is just to let you know what shaped Akito into the person she is today.
Omg Kureno, you do not enable an abuser just because you feel sorry for them.
Any chance you’re gonna react to nagatoro?
dangg!!
I'm stressed
you should react to sakuranopet pretty good anime imo
Lady Dimitrescu Vs Akito Sohma: who would win and who would DIE? 💀
You should react to the demon slayer movie it’s out on websites in hd now
As much as i hate Akito i think i hate that hag that confronted Kureno even more
I can't believe Akito cut her hair😐😐
I pity Akito because she's is victim, but I still can't forgive her for what she did to the zodiacs.
I Love your video reaction... Can you react to kaguya-sama : love is war. I think you would love it
I think Akito is sad that she is a girl? Because in Japan God is a man so that might be why Akito was raised as a male and her father (Aka the previous God) was the only one who was ok with Akito being a girl so Akito keeps saying help me Father (btw Akito calls her mom woman and her dad father #respectforfather)
Reaaact thooo demon slayer movie pleaaaas
Love , please whatch kimetsu no yaiba the movie PLEASE 😭😭😭😭💕💕💕💕💕
We kill Akito you said???
what no why
@@blueberry3717 i can't empatizide with Akito, i just can't.

You LITERALLY have my understanding of akito. I understand people have been saying that her mother is so fucked up. But girl...you pushed this girl out a window in a attempt to kill her. You locked her away for days with no food or water....and your confused as in to why people blame you? You sounds really sick
