my fave method is posting a short intro about myself in a local fb group! i like it cause it gets people to reach out to you, instead of you needing to seek out other people lol
It’s like now a days making friends as a adult can be hectic sometimes. People tend to forget what fun used to be. Nowadays it’s like people are so so so focused on careers and people don’t even enjoy going out. I definitely feel you when you said making friends is difficult. But don’t worry I’m your best friend hahah. I hope you have a great weekend❤
I’m so glad that you made this type of video because most people you see making videos about moving never talk about this part of moving somewhere new! I’ve been thinking about trying those apps; so thank you for the recommendation!
I joined a stitch group (embroidery, crochet, drawing, anything) for similar reasons (wfh) and what I like is that the eye contact and constant chatter is not super intense because you can retreat into your own project and also hang in companionable silence and that’s cool too. Age group was very mixed too which is my favourite. Anyway I made a recent Toronto vlog about it if you’re ever interested to see what’s happening in your old city ❤
that sounds so fun! I would love to get back into crafting, and can totally see how that would feel like a more relaxed environment 💜 enjoy the Toronto life for me 😊
Congrats, Celine, on stepping out and meeting new people! I've been in my area for almost 10 years, but I decided to try Bumble for Friends after you mentioned it in your previous video, and I love it!! I haven't met anyone IRL yet, but the conversations just flow differently since we all genuinely want to make friends.
ahhh I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying Bumble for Friends so far 🫶 I totally agree, it's refreshing to start a conversation already knowing you're among others who want to meet friends too! sending you all the positive vibes 🥹💗
I have faced those same challenges with book clubs, but sometimes depending on the size of the group and where it is located, there can be an influx of people who are coming and going depending on the book, the month, or people's schedules. Sometimes I also felt like meeting once per month was kind of scarce because I wanted more conversations, and I was a slow reader.
Hi C I missed you! TH-cam’s algorithms stopped your feeds…I think you are doing great in your new city and your humility is disarming. Your introversion is much more common than you know (I’m not a huge fan of people!). Crowds of strangers are a bad combination, but your willingness to try is admirable.
This is so timely as I’m moving to a new city soon! In my current city though I did a random art class and ended up meeting one of my closest friends. She also joined as a way to meet people. I think it’s important to know what kind of situation you thrive in. I’m really good 1 on 1 or doing an activity like a class or something but in a large group my social anxiety gets the best of me. I’m glad you made a few connections 😊
ahhhh that's such an inspiring success story 🥹 you truly never know who you may meet in different scenarios! I agree that large group environments can be quite intimidating. wishing you the best of luck with your move and hope you find great connections in the new city 💗✨
Sometimes I think about doing a part time retail/service job not for money but to make some sort of friends with my coworkers. I work for myself and am around people all day but they are clients not friends. I almost miss my retail days because at least I had work friends.
10/10 for putting yourself out there Celine!✨can completely relate - oddly, taking my dog to the park and pub trivia or alfresco bar, around the same time every week and seeing familar faces, has been a great conversation starter. I have met a few new people that way 😁
thank you Aik!! 💗 totally relate with the dog park friendships hahah and I agree, it's always nice to see familiar faces and start getting to know people more ☺️
Thank you for making this video! I’ve been so curious about Bumble BFF but I haven’t heard much about anyone’s experience with it so it was really nice to hear your personal experience with it ❤
Very interesting and useful subject to cover, I'm just like you. Reading the title of the vid gives me social anxiety already though lol. Congrats on stepping out of your comfort zone
Hey Celine! I told myself that I would comment on the last video before you made the new one but I didn't make it 😂. Hey, I'm here now right? It's always a pleasure too. How are you? October has been a month of stepping into the unknown for me. Literally. ( Walking when it's dark) writing, photography and getting back to my podcast. I come alive in Autumn. It's my favorite season. It hasn't rained all month and I've been ok 😂. Clear sunny days and starry nights. I love how you're meeting new friends in your city. That takes a lot of effort and courage. I'm great at meeting new people and talking to random strangers but I'm not in the season in my life to meet new friends in person. I just don't have the time to invest right now. I do understand the importance of meeting like minds. Fellow writers are my tribe. We all get each other. I admire how you're going to these events. It's progressive and contemporary. Instead of doom scrolling you use technology and social apps to enhance your life. Why not? Keep doing what you're doing Celine. I'm enjoying the experience. If I don't get to the vlog you posted before this one the hiking trip you guys went on had some magnificent views. Those mountains are epic. I can only imagine how ornate the colors of Christmas in Calgary will be in the coming months. I can't wait to see it. Alright take care and tell Bean I said hello. Until next time. P.o.p.
hey P.o.p! don't even worry, as I am late to the replying game on my part!! your October weather sounds like a dream come true to me 😂 I commend you for embracing the unknown - photography sounds like a fantastic hobby especially in the Autumn time! completely know what you mean about different seasons of life - there's a time and place for everything, and I'm glad you're doing what feels right for you! can't wait to share the seasonal festivities as the holidays approach in Calgary - and hopefully more mountain views 🏔️ Bean is snoring away nearby, so take that as his 'hello' back 🤣 until next time, take care!
Another awesome video Celine and it's good that you made efforts to find friends. Having friends makes it easier to cope with the difficulties/problems in life we experience because they can help and comfort us. Love 🥰 the video and love ❤ Celine.
Thanks for sharing your experience and nice to know different ways to try to make friends as an introvert and to also just accept being who you are. I'm introvert type person with strong social anxiety and I never like being in any kind of social gatherings with people I don't know and not able to connect with any common interest.
thank you for sharing 💜 I totally get it - making friends can be especially tough with social anxiety and being introverted. when my social anxiety was at its peak as a teenager, being in those situations would've been unimaginable, so I’m glad to hear you’re owning what feels comfortable to you!
as a WFH girlie who doesn't have many friends, this is so helpful! I've been living at my hometown since COVID and I have yet to meet new friends too ;;;
Thanks for the helpful video. As a fellow introvert/socially anxious person, it is so difficult. I wanted to join Bumble BFF but have been afraid to. I also wanted to join a running club but the last two times I was too late to the run so didn’t work out. 🙄 Maybe I’ll check out a reading club in my area. 👍🏽
I really like your videos and I’m also into tech. I consider myself as an introvert-extrovert but yeah, I can relate to the social anxiety you get when trying to talk to someone new. But my takeaways are: 1. It doesn’t hurt to say hi and trying to meet new people. 2. I have met really nice people at church. 3. You have to take initiative and plan a set up. If people are always busy, at least you tried. That’s how I have met people. And also, I’ve been thinking about moving to Calgary. Starting again is scary but one thing about me it’s that I am willing to try!!! I wish you the best!!! ❤
totally get what you mean about introvert-extrovert and love the takeaways you’ve shared 💜 especially number 3, I resonate with that so much! starting over isn’t easy, but it sounds like you have the right attitude!! all the best to you too :)
As someone who also just moved to a new city (Calgary), this video resonates and looking to meet like-minded individuals as well! If you ever want to connect, let me know :)
this was fun and a bit nerve-wracking 😅 let me know if you have any go-to methods for meeting new people in a new place!
