As far as the hooks go, If a fire door locks behind you you will be close to an exit or exits. It will be very unusual that you would need to go back through the doors. However, if you block the fire door open you are now going to allow the fire to gain access to that area that you are now in. Also, many door that usually lock will be unlocked due to the activation of the fire detection system.

Great ideas. It is an S hook, not S biner. I bought Gerber multi tool like that from Gearbest.com for less than $4 with free shipping.
