Oh my gosh!!! I have been wanting to make soap for over a year now but I've been completely overwhelmed trying to decide which process is easiest. Thank you so much for sharing this!!!!
Awesome recipe and I love it when you include your beautiful children in your videos. I’ve learned so much from you and really appreciate the time and energy you put into sharing your skills.
I made your shampoo bars. My husband always raved about how long they lasted. I didn’t realize it was from the tallow. Getting ready to make soap now and steer away from store bought. Thanks for the recipe!💜💜
Hey Marissa! I just love all your DIY recipes that you share with us. Thank you so much. I was wondering if you could do a video on your cleaning routine when cleaning up from a DIY project like this? xx And can you show us your sterilising routine for your equipment as well.
Thank you for being an advocate for soap making with Tallow. I've only been making soap for less than a year, but every recipe I make has tallow and coconut oil. Any additional oils/fats are just experiments. I normally like to keep it simple with no more than 3 or 4 total oils/fats. My last experiment was just coconut oil and tallow. Hasn't been made long enough to try it out yet.

This is my first time making soap. I have look around for a while and landed on you and your teaching style. Question. When I went to make the soap the amounts in the video and the amounts in the recipe are different. Will you please clarify. Thank you
Thank you for sharing this recipe! I have made nearly 10 loaves of soap with this recipe and everyone tells me it's the best soap they've ever used! I am about to experiment with substituting goat milk with the water. I will get back to you about it!
I love love love your channel!! Thank you so much for this recipe. I feel confident enough to give it a try. I have everything you mentioned and wrote down the instructions/ measurements as I went along. I appreciate your time and effort!!❤
Hi Marisa. I’m just finished rendering my tallow and I’m excited to get started on the soap recipe. However I noticed the 2 different videos you have for making this soap, with all the same ingredients, but 1 recipe is larger than the other (with all same ratio of ingredients). The recipe with 19.2 oz tallow should fit into a 2 Lb mold, what size of mold would the 24 oz tallow recipe need? I just want to be as prepared as possible before beginning ❤️ Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I noticed the difference in the written recipe and her verbal recipe. I just made the 24oz tallow from the written recipe and it filled up the 2lb mold and I was able to make 4 round (cupcake diameter size as well with the extra. I am curious as to the different amounts she has listed from what she says.
Hi, what other oils can you substitute for the olive oil and can I use several others to equal the full amount used. Trying to keep it more white. Thank You so much 😊. I love your tutorials and especially love using the tallow.
Could I cut this recipe in half or would I need to recalculate any ingredients? Also, could I use hemp seed oil in place of the olive? And is the croc pot still fine for food after you clean it or do you use it only for soap making? Sorry if these are dumb questions lol
Hi and thank you for your wonderful videos. I have a question. I saw a video of you talking about some tallows don’t harden like others depending on where the fat comes from on the animal and I can’t find it. I have a batch of Tallow that doesn’t harden at room temperature and I am wondering if I am correct about you saying that? Thank you for your time and hope you are having a wonderful New Year ✨
You're very welcome, thank you for the kind words! Yes, tallow from trim fat will be softer, while tallow from leaf fat around the internal organs is harder :)
Hello thank you so much for your lovely video. When you let the soap cure can you put them an a close container so dust doesn't get on them are do they have to be left open an the air
Great video...question though. Your measurements are different than the written recipe. Can I use either one or is the one you using in video the one I should use. I'm new to the soaping 😁 thank you so much. Your son is cute 💞
@@ashleyemmell577 thank you. That helps. I'm so new to this and already this past week made a batch each of olive oil soap, coconut oil soap, and beef tallow soap. Now in curing stage. My first time. Have a blessed day 😊
You make it look so easy! Thanks for sharing. I am wondering if all that oil used to make the soap contributes to clogging up drains. Hopefully there is some kind of chemical reaction (probably the lye) in the mixing that prevents it.
Would the soap turn out as nice and conditioning if we used Lard instead of Tallow? I can buy Lard easily and inexpensively at WalMart, and I don’t know where to find Tallow, or how much it would cost. Thank you!
Hello! I have had 2 batches turn out soft. They've been sitting for almost a month and are still softer than my other bars. Should I try to rebatch or just be patient? I can just forget about them for 6 months and see what happens??
Thank you so much for this video! I'm going to make my first batch. What is the shelf life of the bars? I live in a state where we have long winters so i'll need to make this ahead to get thru the winter. Thanks again!
Have you ever tried experimenting with shea butter in your tallow soaps? I’ve been trying to find a recipe with both tallow and shea but can’t seem to find one! Do you think something like this would work and/or be beneficial for skin?
Any idea where you got the stainless bowl? I checked my Walmart today and all they had were super thick and didn't flex at all. I'd like one like yours that flexes a little to make removing cooled tallow easier.
I looking to make goat milk based hard, scented shaving soap. Is this achievable for a beginner? I liked and subscribed to you channel. Thank you for sharing, nicely done, easy to watch and understand!
Hi Anne, you can swap and change oils in a soap recipe but you must run it through a soap calculator because most oils react differently with lye, the soap calculator will work it all out for you 😊 one of my soap recipes is 25% cocoa butter, 25% olive oil, 25% Shea butter and 25% coconut oil, it makes a pretty nice bar of soap !
Knowing how dangerous lye can be, I am not comfortable with a child so close to the process. I keep fearing he will touch the lye and I could not concentrate.

She just used the crock to melt the oils then removed it from the heat to mix with the lye. If she was using the hot process method she would have left the pot in the heat source until fully cooked and saponified.

Talking about lye safety while bare legged and bare foot squaring over your lye bucket. Shot sleeves and shorts while making soap. Lye burns can be very serious. Skin grafts are no fun. Honey, you gotta do better
I came to the comments just to see if I was the only one who has a problem with the toddler who can't keep his hands off the table. He could get lye in his eyes. He needs to go
I'm surprised that you put your child in danger.. it's ok to tell them to leave while you are working with acid. However the recipe looks like a good one and i will try it. Thank you for sharing, but plz make your child leave. SO DANGEROUS

Wow, thank you! I love your content.
I love you videos. I am getting ready to make this, which will complement my tallow butter ( your recipe ) that I have made. ❤

Great video...question though.

Hello 🙂 Can you use Lard instead of Beef Tallow, and would it still be the same weight needed? Thankyou.
I do love your soap recipes
Are all of your tools and containers dedicated to soapmaking? Or is it safely washed off and reused for food? In particular, the crockpot...
hi, what if i add some magnesium lactate or magnesium chloride when mixing with lye? as i know mg is alkali, it will be fine or make a bad reaction?
The Tallow link is not working. Do you have another one you recommend?
Can I use fractionated coconut oil to make bar soap
What other oil can I substitute for grass red tallow
Thank you!
Would it be safe to reuse the crockpot container to cook food again? thanks! Making this recipe today
No any soap tool remain for just your soap because you have our in that crockpot you can no longer use it for food.
Does tallow soap not clog pipes? Wondering if it doesn’t, is it because of the lye turning everything into soap?
If you can't get grass tallow - what can you use as a replacement?
Absolutely love your videos! Thanks
You make it look so easy! Thanks for sharing. I am wondering if all that oil used to make the soap contributes to clogging up drains. Hopefully there is some kind of chemical reaction (probably the lye) in the mixing that prevents it.
Adding a chelator like citric acid or sodium citrate to the soap batter would eliminate a lot of soap scum.
Great video amazing thank you I love how easy you make things with little ingredients ❤
Would the soap turn out as nice and conditioning if we used Lard instead of Tallow?
I can buy Lard easily and inexpensively at WalMart, and I don’t know where to find Tallow, or how much it would cost.
Thank you!
Thank you so much.
Can we substitute ghee for tallow?
Hi, quick question. Am I able to replace the water with goat milk?
Yed
Yes, I replaced it with breast milk
Hello! I have had 2 batches turn out soft. They've been sitting for almost a month and are still softer than my other bars. Should I try to rebatch or just be patient? I can just forget about them for 6 months and see what happens??

They last a very long time, months if not years :)
Have you ever tried experimenting with shea butter in your tallow soaps? I’ve been trying to find a recipe with both tallow and shea but can’t seem to find one! Do you think something like this would work and/or be beneficial for skin?
I can't find one either and would like to know how much shea to add and put it through soap calc.
Love your videos!
Pretty neat!
Recipe amounts is different than on the printable recipe. Can you explain please?
I sometimes triple or double the recipe :)
the amounts she states in this video are enough for the mold she is using. I made it today and the amounts she stated were perfect .
The kids have to get out of the way
I thought I was the only one concerned about the little guy and that crock pot 😮
Oh man, get the child out of there
Love this thanks!!!
Why are the amounts you give in the video different than your written recipe?
Any idea where you got the stainless bowl? I checked my Walmart today and all they had were super thick and didn't flex at all. I'd like one like yours that flexes a little to make removing cooled tallow easier.
I actually got mine from IKEA, not sure if they still have them though :( Hope you find some!

Hi what was the temp of the lye water when you added it to the oils? Thank you so much.
100ºF :)
Do you find the tub gets really lined with these oils? How do you clean your tub from this?
I haven't found that, just chunks of hardened soap mixture :) I put them in the dishwasher every now and then and that makes them clean again.

Hey there, I’m just wondering why your measurements are different on the video and the printed recipe. I’m confused as to which measures to use.
They are the same :) bumblebeeapothecary.com/how-to-make-tallow-soap-recipe-diy-tutorial/
@@BumblebeeApothecary, no they are not the same.

@yuliaandronova4620 pretty sure she changed the batch size.
Can you swap the tallow to lard??
Yes!
This is simular to the shampoo bar . Can you use this as a shampoo as well ?
The ingredients and superfat in this one are different, so it wouldn't work as nicely for hair.
U r recipie is different from the link? Just wondering.
They're the same :)
They are essentially the same, the recipe in the video is using only 80% of what’s in the printable in terms of weight for each ingredient.
