I'm a HGV truck driver doing night shifts, been listening to Richard for years now, while cruising nighty highways. He has always been somewhere into my playlist. Regardless of what times life/mind has gone through at one time or another, his music has always been a healing balm for the heart, takes mind into another place, warm, sunny, safe, peaceful, fulfilling, soul healing...
Its fucking everything. His voice, talented musicianship, lyrics, its everything. Listening to this is so uplifting. On the bluest, shittiest day going, this music transports you to another plane of existence. Richard Hawley. Better than genius.

Just like many others who made a comment, I discovered him by accident via Belgium Radio 1 and bought 3 of his cd's in one week. In my opinion one of the best singer/ songwriters but not discovered by the big public only by the happy few.
I watched this all the way through. I have never watched an hour and a half video on youtube all the way through. He's a hell of an artist. Now one of the few I call my favorites.
Richard is a masterful songwriter of beautiful, moving, powerful, and deep music. His cascading melodies and chord progressions sweep me off my feet and into another realm, for sure! Very soulful stuff.
This man, Richard, is my passion for the song he writes and sings...a real POÊTE....!!!! A real good human being, for me the best brit pop singer, and a crasy melodiste and a great lover of the real rock and roll....and this touch of the King,Elvis, he has gives to him this touch of Elegance we love so much....!!!!...
my God I am just watching the live version of remorse code! it's making me cry. I can't cope. this is the greatest music ever made! Richard is a true genius. his body of work stands at the very top of popular music's scale! I don't what else to say! dumbfounded!
+Eileen Hughes can you explain to me, the jokes he made about some day off, he said something like '' we did went'' something like that. I'm brazilian, i can't understand jokes yet
elements of so many influence here. Morrisey, Orbison, Moody Blues, Neil Hannon and so much more. Love it! never heard of Hawley before. A new treat for my ears and music arsenal! Thank you Richard!
sheer genius. Richards music really is on another plane! this is the greatest music around! spellbinding! soldier on, he also speaks his mind on a variety of subjects in his own inimitable way! everybody should OWN this music.
I,m still speechless after watching this concert for the last 18 months under covid, we all have to realise the genius that is being portrayed here, Man what a band !!...Thank god I have some of Richard Hawleys albums to get me thru the tough times. Absolutely the BEST concert on u tube (except for MEN AT WORK IS IT berkley?)..don't miss it guys..Yes I am a Colin Hay fan but Richard Hawley is like crossing over from the 80,s to the present time. We need this brilliant music. Take note pls Jules Holland.......!!
Yes! Please send him here where he can play small, intimate venues to non-sellout crowds where those of us in the know can truly enjoy his wonderful gifts. Either that or make flights to Dublin a hell of a lot cheaper! Only discovered him recently when I heard his dulcet tones in Amoeba Records in Hollywood and immediately went to find out what magical elixir it was. It was actually a used copy of his Truelove's Gutter, the only copy in the place, so when they were finished playing it, I bought it! I've been a huge fan ever since.
My wife and I were in the audience (thanks to Eric DV from AB) though we missed the first couple of songs due to traffic. So it's great to fill in the gap (except for the very first song it seems) with this video. Keeping very good memories of this gig.

Sou fã incondicional do Richard. Penso que é um dos melhores compositores e executantes de Música. Tudo o que faz, agrada a todas as gerações. Todo o caminho que traça, é por ali que vamos. Parabéns Richard e obrigado por existires!
+Sudaricov Sergio Well, except Morrissey too often swerves in the direction of the crypto-fascist; that quiff was always suspect... I prefer Hawley's unpretentious lip.
Blubbering wreck of a 53 yo bloke here after hearing Soldier On for the first time. Beautiful tune, beautiful lyrics. 30:45 just finished me off completely.
+1505herzog I often cry to Richards stuff, including when I shared a couple of his tunes with my dying Dad several years back. I still can't listen to The Ocean and The Nights are Cold without shedding a few tears. In a good way of course.
Gary Rutland Your post about your Dad touched my heart (was it on a video of The Ocean) just lovely!...hit home for me too as I recently lost my Mum and Richard is my go to when I need to release. It hurts and helps in equal measures.
53 yrs Old Nurse Geezer Bloke here. Yep 'Soldier On' Gets me EVERYTIME. The Chord Changes Alone Get a Lad Right in the Throat And The Back of The Neck EVERYTIME.
GREAT MUSIC, GREAT SONGS, GREAT ARTIST....But I don't care much for the "song explanations".......a bit's OK but don't need to know about ALL the details, I think it takes away from the 'mystery' & instilling your own meaning. Having said that his melodies are so haunting and lyrics eloquent that they touch your soul.
