Japan and Korea don’t really like each other on a political level albeit they are Allies. So having them sing in Japanese boosts them to super star level in Japan as well as Korea. To me it’s staggering they can do a concert in Seoul in one language a language Rose had to perfect and Lisa has to learn from scratch and then go to Tokyo two days later and do it in Japanese a new language for them all growing up. That’s dedication determination unbelievable work ethic and beyond inspiring. Just amazing. And financially genius

To add to some comments on here sometimes they add in scenes in the Japanese versions of their songs. Lovesick Girls is an example where they added in I believe about 10 to 15 seconds of newly shot scenes for some parts. It's little tweaks they do, but they also like to release different looking albums for their Japanese versions too. THE ALBUM released solo covers of the girls and they look fantastic in them!

the japan market is the second most important market for the kpop Industrie since it brings big profits. That's why the most Kpop groups release Japanese singles and japanese version of their songs and since they want that the japan market give interest to them they need to replace the korean raps in english since the most kpop Idols can't speak japanese that fast to rap in japanese unless their native language is japanese and that's why they singing in japanese and rap in english. Before advertising their music oversea the korean industry (idk if it's just a kpop thing or not) went to the japanese market which obviously was closer and I guess easier to reach - feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. So that's why kpop idols make japanese versions of their songs, the same way some of them do english version now. The english rap is just a Blackpink thing tho and they did it in all japanese versions if I remember correctly.

Blackpink release their songs in Japanese as well. This is because of a deeper cultural and political divide between Korea and Japan. All kpop groups release Japanese-langauge songs at some point (either of an song originally in Korean or a completely new and different song) for the Japanese market. That’s why in the YG training camp, they are thought Japanese (I am not sure in other entertainment companies).
It is usually considered offensive for a kpop group/idol to sing in Korean in a concert in Japan. Fun fact: technically, the first “full” album released by Blackpink is the Tokyo Dome concert album-it has all of their songs in Japanese. Also, The Album has a Japanese version. You may want to check out the Japanese MV of Lovesick Girls. Blackpink singing in Japanese hits different, especially Jisoo since her voice suits Japanese very well.

Japan is the second largest music market after the USoA, and they learned japanese as part of their training.
Some of the lyrics were changed, obviously, from the korean and to maintain the sound patterns some of the former korean parts are in english and some english is in japanese.
From what I've seen of the translated lyrics, some of the original meanings can be rather different, even sometimes rather more explicit.

    @Blinky423 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I love this music video so much along with so many of there other music videos!!! It’s so full of symbolisms and hidden meanings!!!❤️❤️❤️
    Here are some examples:🤍🌹🌷🌺
    1:
A burst of pink smoke gives Lisa wings, which represent flight and freedom. This strongly connects her and the pink cockatoo that appears later on.
    2:
Jennie is dressed as a colourful queen, high above the other chess pieces, which suggests that the black and white rules of chess don’t apply to her. This suggests that Jennie has decided to live her life by her own rules and will play the game her own way.
Also As queen, Jennie is in a position to defend the black king while putting the white king in check. She easily takes out the white king, winning the game.
    3:
The fennec fox represents a person’s core values, and indicates a solitary or independent individual. Someone with a fennec fox personality, like Jennie, is both a pioneer and a leader. These people can thrive in society while also living their life in their own unique way. In some dream symbolism, a fennec fox serves as a warning to watch out for false friends.
    4:
BLACKPINK has included bird symbolism throughout this music video. First, Lisa appears with smoke wings, then she appears with a cockatoo, followed by Rosé swinging on a chandelier like a bird in a cage. In general, birds can represent freedom, but cockatoos have their own unique meaning. Cockatoos are associated with change and the celebration of self-love. Their flashy crest encourages other the show their true colours. In this case, that colour is pink! Rose-coloured cockatoos symbolize spontaneity and fearlessness.
    5:
Historically, the katana was the best-known weapon of the samurai, a powerful class of warriors from ancient and feudal Japan. Lisa may be channeling her inner samurai here, or be making a reference to the badass, katana-wielding heroine of the film Kill Bill. Either way, this sword represents strength and the determination to face one’s battles head-on.
    6:
In this scene, Lisa is surrounded by an eclectic collection of objects, including a shelf full of books. One of these books is Escape from Camp 14: One Man’s Remarkable Odyssey from North Korea to Freedom in the West. This book tells the true life story of a man who escapes from a North Korean prison camp. This adds to the video’s themes of perseverance and freedom.
    7:
Behind Lisa is a blackboard loaded with BLACKPINK hints, messages, and references to previous songs, such as “As If It’s Your Last”.
    8:
Lisa wields BLACKPINK’s unique lightstick like a hammer. Like the katana, this lightstick adds to the video’s fight imagery.
    9:
Two Rosés stare in this scene. The Rosé in black looks up at the Rosé in white, who is on display like a beautiful statue. The white Rosé has, quite literally, been put on a pedestal and represents the version of herself that the public sees. This Rosé is covered in crystals and has been crowned like a queen. She looks too perfect to be real. The Rosé in black represents Rosé’s true self. She moves through the scene like a shadow, dressed in a much simpler outfit. This Rosé is not crowned because, underneath all the glamor, she is just an ordinary human being.
    10:
Lisa plays the offense with her sword and hammer lightstick, while Jisoo uses her umbrella as a shield. Jisoo’s umbrella protects her from the sparks that try to burn her. She stands glamorous and strong in black mourning clothes. This suggests that she has, and will continue to, survive every trial the world throws at her. At the end of it all, she will walk out of the wreckage, unscathed.
    11:
Jennie’s glam tank is yet another weapon that supports this video’s battle imagery. Like Rosé, she is divided into a black self and a white self. Her white self gives off frivolous, diva vibes, while the black self demands to be taken seriously. White Jennie rejects her own stereotype by throwing down her expensive goods and allowing Black Jennie’s tank to crush them.
    12:
In this scene, we see two Jisoos. One is an unchanging, infallible image. The other is a living, breathing, real person. Fans take admiring photos of her image, but as soon as she makes a mistake, the “fans” turn their phone on her like guns. This symbolizing how photos and social media can be used to build someone up as easily as they can tear someone down. It also shows how one little mistake can damage an idol’s image and turn admirers against them.
    13:
Rosé swings on this chandelier like a bird in a cage. As she swings, she causes the power to flicker, suggesting that the situation may be becoming precarious. She may keep swinging until the power completely goes out, the chandelier falls, and she breaks free of her cage.
    14:
Since wisteria vines bloom in spring and early summer, these flowers symbolize new life. Pink wisteria can also symbolize blossoming feelings of love. The wisteria in BLACKPINK’s video, however, are growing outside of their natural environment in near darkness. In spite of this, the flowers are thriving while changing the world around them into a more beautiful place.
    15:
Black traditionally represents evil while white represents good, but BLACKPINK seems to have altered their meanings. In this video, white may represent a beautiful and beloved, but also false, self, while black represents the members’ true selves.

(G)i-dle is a kpop gg you reacted before and some of their songs have up to four different language versions e.g. Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese. Usually, each language represents one dedicated market. Also, it is easier to do such things if they have foreign members in the group

    I have a suggestion, there’s a solo R&B artist in Korea named Zion.T
He was inspired by T-Pain back in the day in maybe the late 2000s. He gradually became more R&B as he experimented with his very unique voice and decided he would keep it that way. I think you would really like him.
A specific song I recommend is *No Make Up* since it’s a good starter
Or his appearance in *Dingo Killing Verse* where he sings multiple songs

The rationale for rapping in English in Japanese version of original Korean songs. Well, singing in Japanese for a Japanese audience in Japan (a huge market for the K-pop industry) is a given. For rapping, the best thing would be also in Japanese. The problem is that the best Japanese-speaker in BlackPink is lead vocalist Jisoo, not the rappers of the group, Jennie and Lisa. These 2 girls are only competent enough in Japanese to sing, and to say a few simple sentences and phrases to interact with the Japanese audience. But they are excellent English speakers, esp. Jennie who spent 5 years in a boarding school in New Zealand from age 10 to 14 years old. As a matter of fact, when she was a trainee, she was the only one who could speak English and did so excellently. For this reason, she was trained primarily to become a rapper. She is the main rapper of the group. The reason for Lisa's excellent American-accented English is a mystery. Being a child from very rich parents, Lisa was probably sent to top-notched primary schools in Thailand, where English are likely well taught. And the fact that she grew up with a Swiss step-father, the only father she ever knows, is a bonus. But where she got her perfect American accent is a bit of a mystery. Most Korean commentators in S. Korean news media and TH-cam video reactors have expressed amazement that her Korean accent is 99 to 100% good, after only 4 years of learning it from nothing, from the age of 14. So, it must be that Lisa has a gift for acquiring languages. Back to English, it is reasonable to expect the first foreign language a Japanese would learn is English, just like any non-English speakers around the world, not Korean. Therefore rapping in English in the Japanese version of their songs makes perfect sense for the 2 BP rappers.

These Japanese versions are made for Japanese Tours and performances and even the JP version mvs are similar but with a few new scenes. Most of the verse are translated to JP but the raps are chourus usually remain the same or change to english. But honestly i personally find JP versions a little beter sometimes for certain songs. The change in language usually brings up a change in vocal tone and flavour and the raps is english hit much harder i really like the concept of JP versions and English Versions etc because each version brings out something new
