Great advice and awesome demo. When it comes to avoiding projecting your voice, someone once said to me that you should treat a microphone as if you were talking into someones ear and this will help prevent you talking to loudly (unless its intentional and you have to talk a bit louder) as you can probably guess that someone taking loudly into your ear close up, would sound unpleasant and you wouldn't want to listen to them, but if they were talking at a normal volume, then their voice would sound fine to listen too.

I am just starting my voice over career (neutral spanish speaker) and I know that sometimes I read an script louder than It should be. When I read no too loud and not too quiet, My reads fells more confident but I have to battle with the right pronunciation of some words with S, R and N (I do not know why this happen to me). Somedays ago, I started to correct it and now I´ve been doing it better, but now, I have more VO work since I understand what you said in one of your videos that was named "The art of the pause". I also understood that people mostly like natural voices. I have a baritone-bass voice but people most like more my mid-range tone (friendly and smiley voice) ´cause It engaged or it´s more confortable to listen. Anyway, you´re pretty right on what you are saying. I never forget the art of the pause, It really helped me to engaged people to my reads. This is a good video too. Thanks.

can you please do a video, walking us through your eq process? I think what really gets us is the fact that we know that people is around so we becomes scared of speaking itself, in the case of sounding weird to someone.

Hey, I was the 7,777th person to view this! Listened to the first 7 minutes and I am absolutely positive that the key to voicing audio books is presented here! In the spirit of what I heard Bill refer to as "spreading the love", I immediately went to a novel I'd recorded earlier and marked up the appropriate, obserevable emotions. Mystical, adventurous, excited and hopefully in the first 20 lines! And how fun is that?

Bill- I have been in the Broadcasting business over the years. I am just getting started in the voice over business. I just wanted to say, you are an "invaluable" resource for the business. I am so impressed with you and what you have to say. These words sum it up. You are incredible!!! Thanks for all the free advise. I wish I could pay you back!

Not just voiceover Bill, but also in how to present yourself in front of a camera lens. I struggle with this all of the time and find it difficult to portray the ‘real me’ once that camera is going. Thanks for this.

TIL that it's actually slowing down during a script read AND love that cover over a multitude of sins, lol. I'll definitely be keeping my speed, intensity, and projection in mind as I practice and experimenting to see the differences that each of them make. Good stuff.
Edit: Bummer that emotionally diverse demo wasn't linked to, but I see videos of demos on your channel that will do.

Hey Bill is there a laptop that will eliminate the need for a preamp. I move 3 to 5 times a year for my business. I do well at the business I have chosen. People that I deal with daily have asked if I do radio or commercials. I WANT IN! I want to be a personality with the skills to win auditions. I want to be the "voice" of something spectacular. Can you help me achieve that?
