Yup. Left her to suffocate while he looked for a way to save his career. He should have gone to prison. Instead, his party made him 'The Lion of the Senate'. Revolting.
This Party The Democratic Party Still Getting Away With Murder Yet 5 Years Later They Force Than President Richard Nixon Resign But Ted Kennedy Can Leave Lady Drown Who Said There's No Favorite's Has No Morals The Democratic Party Till This Day Are Determined To Destroy The Republican Party They Tried With Reagan But Ever Notice Take Credit For Things They Didn't Do
Holy hell. I had forgotten about that nickname.
Puke.
I always felt so bad for her mom, she could never get justice for her daughter. Just totally a sad situation.
what is justice ? he paid . and he was the best senator ever !!!
@@migjtyalfie4501stop voting
Didn’t daddy Kennedy cut the family a check to hush it up?
@@migjtyalfie4501 He paid? With what exactly? Like Mary Jo, with his life? Sorry but this rubs me the wrong way.
@@migjtyalfie4501 how exactly did he pay?? He committed crimes he was never brought to trial for. Daddy Kennedy got him out of trouble with his money like he did so many times...
I remember this..yes he killed her. He swam away and left her threre and never tried to help her///
All the locals were in on the cover up. Even the cops.
Ole Ted(who would walk by me in August 1973 at the Capital)was not driving. He and Mary were out in his car and were spooked by a cop in the distance. So he dove out and let her drive away. she did not know the roads and she crashed the car. Teddy's clothes were not a mess the next morning when he was informed at breakfast.
The same clothes he was wearing the night before. A bad driving conviction is much better politically, than seen messing around on his wife.
GD right he did. He never tried to save her. She didn’t drown. She ran out of air. All he was concerned about is the optics and ran back to his lawyers.
Was he drunk as well?
Teddy doesn't swim. He was going sleep with another woman and let Mary drive herself and she took a bad turn. 👎 yes teddy is a liar runs in his family in case you didn't know
And YET the people of Massachusetts continued to re-elect this narcissistic liar for the next 40 YEARS!!!! At the MINIMUM this was manslaughter. Leaving the scene & failing to report it when she could have still been saved should have made it murder!! It is said that in later years he joked a lot about Chappaquiddick *boggle* I will NEVER understand this!! TRAGIC!!!
What? HE joked about it?
@@cheleshows I know! That was reported around the time of his death + he would ask "has anyone heard any good Chappaquiddick jokes?" His only remorse was it kept him from becoming President. SAD!
This right here! I too will never understand how those that voted for him justified this.
My Dad talked about this all the time when I was a kid. Yes, he was responsible for her death and was never held accountable.
If you know anything about the Kennedy family, Joseph Sr was well know to pay off his sons indiscretions, each and every son of them. The sons were all 'players' and they all got caught with their pants down, one time or another. Sadly it ruined many lives including MaryJo's. Rest in Peace Mary Jo
I totally agree, look what happened to Marilyn Monroe as well because of the Kennedy's!!!
Sounds like what the Biden’s do for Hunter and the rest of their family.
Thhe saddest part of this family is what the “ol man” did to their daughter Rosemary. The channel “well i never” covers her horrendous lobotomy. Shame on the so called patriarch!!
@@babasheeny3634I saw that documentary too. Disgusting
Joe Sr. was a criminal. He was a bootlegger back in the day. That family is cursed!
And he had the audacity to show up to her funeral with a neck brace on even though nothing was physically wrong with him. My blood boils every time I think of this whole thing.
I hadn't heard about the neck brace thing. No surprise though, he was a monster.
Oh, there was plenty wrong with him.
Yes he did. And was never held accountable. What a disgrace that people of that state kept voting for him.
Maybe they didn’t vote for him. Considering what we know now, maybe they cheated too.
So much for justice being blind....Even today, the justice system is a one eyed monster. It is not what you did, but who you are or your political persuasion. In my humble opinion.
In this life.. When he breathed his last breath, he didn't get away with anything. He's being held accountable now and he's paying for it now.
People vote red or blue no matter what the politician does. They don't care about the character only the letters after their name especially in my state of Pennsylvania.
because he was the best senator and was always trying to make up for this lapse in judgment -
ever do something you would do anything to go back and change ?
those who have not sinned can throw the first stone .
he was the very best abs most caring senator and never ever made it public some of the things he did -
Poor girl, what a horrible, senseless death. He was a coward among many other things, and yes I think he was responsible for her death. He didn’t care for her, he only cared about himself.
Thanks Jordan. ❤️Jodie 🇦🇺
agree
Well said. And yes, he was a coward, and I can’t understand how he couldn’t save the poor girl. It’s a cover up, and I hate to bear the thoughts of my feelings towards the Kennedy’s. One day, the real truth will come out and we’ll mightn’t be around for the revelation… once again, well said…..!
@@pearsedunne9938 Definitely, the Kennedy’s had a lot of things covered up for them.
Onto a different Kennedy. When President Kennedy was shot, this time the cover up was against them not for them. His death was absolutely horrific and sad, and although Lee Harvey Oswald had something to do with it, either he shot him or he thought he shot him while someone else actually did. The fact is, (in my opinion) he was a scapegoat, that’s why Jack Ruby killed him, to silence him.
Whoever it was, they were much bigger then little Lee Harvey Oswald and didn’t need their scapegoat anymore. Just my opinion, also my opinion, l love Abraham Lincoln.
Have a nice day, and if your in the States have a nice evening. 😁 Jodie 🇦🇺
My family crossed path with Ted Kennedy in 72 in D.C. We were taking a tour of the Capital, the Rotunda at the White House, to be exact. I was just a young teenager. My Dad was in front of me. Suddenly, we see Sen. Kennedy and two obvious Security Men walking flank left and right of him. My Dad froze up, star-struck by Kennedy's sudden appearance. Because he was standing about 20 yards ahead of him, rather than smile when my Dad waved, Kennedy stared at him and got his Security guys to glare at my Dad and wave him away "out of his presence." I kid you not. It left a VERY bad taste in mind for the arrogance of this Kennedy. Later, in life, I knew an executive in D.C. who frequented a swank bar Ted Kennedy frequently tell me she saw a beautiful busty woman crawl under his table (and she wasn't looking for her contacts). In my opinion, and many others, Ted Kennedy murdered Mary Jo. He was never prosecuted because he was a Kennedy. He was the WORST of all the brothers.
I watched an in depth documentary on this years ago. What stands out in my memory was how she was literally in the back window of the vehicle in the only air pocket….probably thinking that Ted would return any second to help her. He never did and she died a painful drowning death. The terror she went through must have been horrific. I am glad you did this video. Time has erased this poor woman’s death. Ted Kennedy was to blame 💯 percent.
Oh he returned with his buddies...and they stood next the car and debated how best to save his rear end
@@scottaznavourian3720😂
My brother lived on Martha’s Vineyard for many years. I was on that bridge in Chappaquiddick. It was pretty narrow, but I think Kennedy was driving really fast. My guess Kennedy was probably drunk as a skunk.
perhaps , but they are saying now that she was driving
@@migjtyalfie4501 I never heard that one. I suppose that’s possible.
No kidding Ted and booze BFF
That's what I think too. He may not have intended too, he may not have intended too but she's STILL dead. It sort of proves my theory- we're all equal in the eyes of the law, but the rich are more equal than the poor. He got off because of his money & family name.
Drinking All The Kennedy's Do Seems To Be
I remember when this happened. His story never added up. His entire career was haunted by this accident. Personally, in my opinion, he was responsible for her untimely death.
I remember this so well, I was a young teenager. I never believed Kennedy & always felt he got a “pardon” so to speak because he was a Kennedy. 🤨
That news story got buried. Happened at one of the most newsworthy periods in American history. This, the moon landing, the Tate murders, and Woodstock all within a few weeks of each other.
How many times did this story change? Teddy did and said everything wrong. There's no way he was innocent.
Poor Mary Jo and her family.
I was REALLY young. But, I remember my parents saying, he'd never become President. And he never did. Thanks Jordan 😃
This was a really interesting vlog - in fact it has started a family discussion. So many years have passed - yet, the entire incident remains shrouded in mystery. Many thanks Jordan for relating all the facts and delivering this dignified tribute to Mary Jo Kopechne.
Lived in Hyannisport, local joke was: If you don't want to get run down by a drunk Ted Kennedy then you'd better stay off of the sidewalks. He was a reckless, selfish man. He ruined his wife Joan's life that night as well. I think of Mary Jo often and am saddened to know she was a victim of his reckless ways. Thank you Jordan.
Such a sad & tragic story for her family. We'll never really know what he did or didn't do because his story changed so much. So many people seemed to drop the ball on the investigation. Thanks Jordan for sharing for those that didn't know this piece of history.
Jordan thank you for sharing this story with us, this is so said how this young lady loss her life and no one was held responsible for it.
Very interesting story; I've read quite a few books about this. In my opinion Mr.Kennedy was to blame. A career was more important to him than a human life 😓. That upside down car in the background, Jordan: what's up with that???
Teddy had several opportunities to rescue Mary Jo, but didn't take them. He, instead, went back to his motel, slept, awoke in the morning & then reported the accident. She drowned in the submerged car. Sad & Shameful!
@@gailreese4102 He could have immediately anonymously reported the "accident" and kept his name out of the press.
It wouldn't have worked that way, at that time. The Kennedy Family was very well-known (i.e., powerful) and, as such, there were lines not to be crossed. If he was able to free himself & to walk away, he should have tried to save Mary Jo rather than abandoning her to drown. He was much more concerned with saving himself & his political futures. Any hopes he ever had of becoming President died that day, too. Shameful!
I remember this as it was yesterday. He got away with what happened because of his family name, status. I was living in Wilkes Barre Pa at the time this occurred. I'm almost certain her family was from Plymouth Pa not far from Wilkes Barre. She would have been 83 , time goes by so fast. RIP Mary, may God give you eternal peace!!
A drunk and a narcissist......he killed her. All he had to do was go get help and she might have survived, she likely lingered in the car for an hour breathing. the people of MA ought to be ashamed re-electing this scumbag for years.
Mary Jo and Marilyn Monroe were both killed by the Kennedys to cover up the affairs. Probably many others also "disappeared". Very sad, May they both Rest in Peace 🙏
And how many others ?
Bobby Kennedy Was In Los Angeles The Night Marilyn Monroe Was Found Dead

It will come out some day.
I remember when this happened, I just didn't realize it was after Bobby's death. I also was unaware that the car was largely sticking out of the water. I thought that the entire car had been submerged.
Same here on all points.
Thanks.
He let her die
No drunk driver ever knows what they're doing! Ted covered up the truth because I truly believe he didn't even know the truth. Extremely sad all the way around. I feel so sorry for the young woman's family and friends.
You have to be kidding.
He should have gotten much more serious charges that he did. No doubt his name shielded him. I mean come on…. NO autopsy?? Her family should have never allowed that settlement to remain sealed.
I'd still be raising hell
@@linaleblanc8288 me too!!
Another great informative video. Thanks Jordan the Lion.
The other story I find sad are Natalie Wood, Robert Wagner, and Christopher Walken.
Another tragedy we will never know the full story.
I was a young teenager living in Massachusetts when this occurred. My Dad was a state representative at the time and had worked on various assignments with the Kennedys. Whether Teddy murdered Mary Jo or it was a legitimate accident, I remember my father saying "Well, whatever happened, he'll never be president now." And he was right. Terribly sad on so many levels.
I always felt sorry for Joan Kennedy for having to put up with Teddy's behavior.
I also lived in Ma at the time. Ted went on to drink the rest of his life away. wonder why. Poor mary Jo!
Teddy never wanted president job
@@Darcey-t4s- Understandable when you consider his brothers assassinations.
Well he is sure was resposible .
Thanks for the video. I felt sorry that there was nothing done to Ted Kennedy. Wasn;t right
Ted's neck brace is a nice touch. Two nephews also add (allegedly) to the Kennedy' family's criminal legacy.
Thank you, Jordan, for touching on this most sad, and poignant chapter in our Nation's history. We love you and your wicked, super cool journey with your vlogs. Keep em coming and please remember to remain safe out there. Happy upcoming Holiday season. Check ya out on the next. Big shoutout from your friends in the Great Smoky Mountains at Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Peace, dude. Later.
Helps to have friends in big places if you need to Side step the law..
Yes he was guilty of accidentally killing her. He was drunk and drove the Oldsmobile off of Dike Bridge. He escaped the car. She did not. He could have easily walked to a nearby house with its lights on, summoned help, and saved her. Instead, knowing this was a serious crime, he went back to his hotel room in Edgartown, slept it off and never said a word to anyone. He only reported it when his options ran out. He tried to get his cousin Joe Gargan to take the rap for it. Gargan refused. It turns out that Miss Kopechne lived for some time in an air bubble in the overturned car. So, yes he killed her. Her autopsy results were sanitized, and the doctor said she was still a "maiden." Why even include that? Despicable. Kennedy wore a big obvious neck brace to her funeral, though none was necessary or prescribed. The long arm of Kennedy money and power saved Ted once again. Four months later Ted's father Joe died disillusioned.
Sounds so familiar….Oh Biden’s not taking responsibility of their actions!
Kennedys could do no wrong. His fault she died.
She was probably still alive and someone could have saved her.
Yep. If charged today, & NOT being a Kennedy, yes. Involuntary & intoxicated use of a vehicle.
Agreed!
It could have been an even bigger story at the time but the next day was the day man walked on the moon, I believe.
I've always been fascinated with this story but I never knew the facts. Thank you for making it clear as to what happened
I was just looking at Ted's auto(ironic)biography at Goodwill yesterday. Looked up the Chappaquiddick incident. Nothing mentioned at all. Too busy talking about his brothers to deflect any mention of his past indiscretions.
YES HE DID.
Good to see this story being covered again. I remember years ago Geraldo Rivera covering this story and i thought Kennedy was in the wrong then & I still believe that. Politics can be a dangerous thing.
I hope that isn't your car in the background at the beginning of the video.
The matter of her being collateral damage for the ambitions of the kennedys, here ted.
yes
He didn't murder her but he caused her death and he ran away when he very well could've saved her life.
Murder…you leave someone to die in an accident…. He never tried to save her… karma teddy 😮
Dirt bag this fellow, she could easily survived this.
An young lady gone,so young as an parent and grandfather.
Terrible for her parents.
Yet the people of Mass re-elected him year after year. Look what his fellow Senator has done to this country.
Ted, vvent silent for (2) days (?). Nuf said.
I glad you're bringing this up the Kennedys wanted this out the window and forgot he did do it and got away with it as well
Hi Jordan, Sadly this is a very tragic story. We feel for her family. Thank your for all the research you do on these stories.
Great vlog Jordan! Very well done as always. Safe travels and Happy Holidays to you, Katie and Jah. ~Love&Light♥️Carli
SOB should have gone to prison, the only reason he didn’t is because his last name was Kennedy. Plus the fact that idiots in Massachusetts kept electing him to office, unbelievable.
After the death of Miss Kopechne, there was a t shirt for sale that summer that stated, "Teddy For Lifeguard". Justice is supposed to be blind, but it does have an eye for money.
I was 17 years old when this happened. I remember it well. But I must say I don't believe anything they all say. ( the Kennedy's ) especially after the marlin Monroe debockle , it goes all the way back to their father Joe.... THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA......
Thanks for the video, Jordan. My wife and I visited Chappaquiddick about two years ago. Very surreal standing there. Ted's story made little sense and he skated through by being a Kennedy. A ton of things he said didn't pass the smell test, and there are a number of awesome videos detailing them. He knew the area extremely well, he would've had any number of options for help, etc. On and on. I don't believe he drove the car that went over the bridge. I think Mary Jo was driving at the time of the accident. He bailed minutes earlier because he was in danger of being flushed out by police. He didn't immediately report it because he didn't know it had happened. Such a tragedy Mary Jo lost her life in such a tragic way.
I hope you and Katie have a great holiday. Thank you for doing this video as well. I’ll be honest I’ve only heard bits and pieces throughout the years about the whole Ted Kennedy story, so this will be interesting to hear from you.
I think this was just despicable
He was charged with leaving the scene of a crime or was it leaving the scene of an accident? I believe it would be the latter rather than the former.
Excellent content as always.
The charge was leaving the scene of an accident causing bodily injury

Ted spoke to the desk clerk (and possible owner of the inn?) that night, in the lobby, when he came in in the wee hours. That man stated that Kennedy's clothes were not wet. The fellow inn guests who spoke with him the next morning reported that his whole demeanor changed after Markham and Gargan gave him the bad news. What I don't understand is, even if Mary Jo was driving alone and drunk in a strange car, in a strange place, why did she turn off onto a dirt road? She had to know that the entire road back to the cottage was paved. Did she do this trying to elude the cops, who were not chasing her at this point? We will never know. The locals knew, and they kept quiet. You didn't mess with the Kennedys in Massachusetts at that time.
So, we’re just not going to talk about the wrecked car on the lawn?
That car wasn't that deep in water. He could've got her out.
Great look into this. Didn't know alot of this. Sad
I remember this like it was yesterday. So sad for that poor girl. I'm from Massachusetts and I do have to say, what on earth was going on with the Kennedy Men. Not a great History with woman😢 5:14
They used women, and they had a perfect enabler in their brother in law, the film actor Peter Lawford, who was able to supply a constant string of young starlets to the insatiable ones.
I was 11 when this happened and even then, it made no sense to me. Why didn’t he immediately get help? He stonewalled while his father made it go away. I remember watching his speech and my dad saying, he killed that girl. He clearly was drunk when it happened in my opinion. So sad. Thanks for the video Jordan. Well done.
Happy to see you finally do a video on someone in my neck of the woods, the Wyoming Valley PA. Wish I knew you were here. Would have loved to meet you. Love your videos.
Well lets just say he didn't help.
My guess is that she was pregnant, so she was murdered. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
Yes, it would of been nice if they had done an autopsy
read the autopsy report for the facts.
There was no autopsy.
This is an important report. Thank you Jordan. The Ken's vvere not BadGuys i.m.o. - but a lot of Truth didn't get told. Rest In Peace Mary Jo. Love & Light from, Portland, Oregon.
NO,..he did not kill her. He sent her off in his car while he walked back to the party and knew nothing about her crash until the next morning.
Yes he killed her. Left her there to die.
Yikes. That cemetery ground looks very uneven. Whole thing such a tragedy.
Imagine how the media would handle this incident if it were

2 at the bottom most likely, and you would need a magnifying
glass just to read about it.
My opinion, YES HE DID!
What ferry. They weren't running at that hour. Come on teddies 🧸
I have been saying for years he was not in the car....the reason they pulled over that night is because Mary Jo realized she had forgotten her purse...it was all because Mary Jo forgot her purse....
Very sad story! Some of these details, I didn’t know of! The Kennedy family had some bad karma!! 🤷🏻♀️
so Kennedy lied about his story
Thanks for the video sad story it sounds like he was part of it
I always felt it was an accident that happened and he saved himself and let her fin for herself. As I remember her family didn't persue a lot after this accident, which I found to be strange at the time. He had real problems with alcohol for years. There were rumors that Mary Jo was pregnant. But I do remember her family not requesting a lot of investigation.
Dyke bridge was completely rebuilt a few years back and now has guard rails.
Hi Jordan. I've read quite a bit about this case and I thought you did a good job giving the facts about it. Like you, I came to think that Kennedy may have gotten out of the car after they drove down that road after the police officer observed them parked, and that Mary Jo may have driven off that bridge, alone. That would make so many things makes sense, like his radically changed behavior after his two friends visited him the next morning in Edgartown. Thereafter, btw, before he went to the police station, the three of them took the ferry to Chappaquiddick, used the phone there at the ferry landing, then returned to Edgartown. One still has to wonder why, like you say, he would put himself at the scene if he wasn't actually there. If only they'd done some proper investigation, interviewed the others at the house, done an autopsy, etc., we might have enough information to figure out exactly what happened that night. But, unlikely we ever will now.
Weĺ you dont let loose with a drunk Kennedy
All for a piece of “ A “ What a fubar . Great work on this Jordan. I knew of this back in the day but really never heard the entire story. Sounds like she fought for her life and just imagine what she was thinking in those horrible moments of being trapped and no way out . RIP indeed !
I heard there was thoughts that Ted wasn’t driving & she was , and didn’t know the roads.. he still should have alerted the authorities immediately.
Oh i swear he was worse than his devious brothers 😮
Mary Jo Kopechhe, George Smather's secretary or assistant who shared a luxurious apartment with Carol Tyler, Bobby Baker's mistress back in November 1963.
President Kennedy was going to dump LBJ and choose his best friend SMATHERS as his 1964 running mate.
Bobby Baker was known in Washington Circles as "Lyndon's boy"
It always amazes me how those with money and power can easily escape the common justice that others who are not so fortunate must endure, I doubt Senator Kennedy planned to have an accident but he was known to be a heavy drinker, and who knows what really happened that evening? There was quite a coverup back then with many theories, and truth be told we will never know!
So sad.... I pray she is with Jesus. 😌🙏✝️👑❤️☝️💯🔥
I remember in the newspaper it said that she was pregnant by him and she told him about it I think he did it on purpose
I was 11 years old at that time and remember my mom saying she was probably pregnant because her parents refused to have an autopsy done on her. The parents never said anything about it and I’m sure some serious money was given to them for their silence. Even after this scandal, Ted still was up to his drinking and womanizing antics for YEARS.
Of course it was all Ted's fault!!!
R.I.P. Mary Jo! Poor girl!
Thank you for remembering to visit her grave.
I have always believed that many in law enforcement chose to look away. They didn’t necessarily do this because they were democrats but because of what had already happened to the Kennedys….Initially, Joe Kennedy Sr. wanted his oldest son Joe Jr. to run for President…This wasn’t possible due to his being killed in WWII…And then, as everyone knows, Joe Sr. put his own unobtainable dream (he wanted to be President himself but was unable due to his past non-political life and his troubled ambassadorship to England) onto John, Bobby and then Ted…..And then when you add in what happened to Kennedy daughters Rosemary (a botched lobotomy) and Katherine (her death in a plane crash), you had a scenario with six family/sibling tragedies in roughly twenty years….Granted, Ted’s “death” might have only been political but it made some people to not want to add to Rose Kennedys (the mother) heartache and distress.
That's possible.. I can see what you are saying..
This is insane what makes him any different than any murderer? He may bought his way on planet earth but you can’t buy one in heaven.
Doubtful he's in Heaven unless he repented and asked Christ into his heart as his savior
I'd never heard this story! Wow!
I remember the first time I went to find her grave back in the '90's. There was a woman there fixing up her own families grave site and I ask her where Mary Jo's grave was. She looked at me and I believe she ask if I was a reporter/press. I said no, but with my camera, she just shrugged and shook her head no, she dint know where her grave was. I knew she had to know. I believe the local people are sick of the publicity and press coverage all the time about this. And they wont tell people.
