The video said, "...they recently PURCHASED a land in the Phil..." but the Philippine Constitution generally prohibits foreigners to buy and own lands in the Philippines, except by inheritance and if you already secured an SSRV (for foreign retirees). But foreigners may purchase real properties such as condominium units.

But I am still envious of this couple, Paris and Josh, for living back to basics. I guess that is what we ought to be, NOT wanting so much in life and still be happy with what we have. yep another person here was right only filipinos can own land in the Philippines so either they have been conned out of there money or something else is going on......check your title..... I managed to get a life time lease on some land there but even that is not secure.
Funny though I can own the house but not the land !

    • @miasantiago4583
      @miasantiago4583 4 ปีที่แล้ว

At the time of their purchase, you are correct, no non-Filipino can own land. If the other half of the couple is Filipino, said person can be named as the full owner. However, I believe, in 2019, that has changed. Besides that though, another big issue for them might be is whether this land doesn't have multiple liens on it, or that the extended family members are not claiming for it as well. It is also important to note that even the titles can be faked! As a personal story, our family has owned a particular land for 30 years now, we have a clean title, the very owner sold it to us but the grandchildren who weren't even born at the time the property was sold to us, are contesting our ownership. Our story is not unique sad to say; it's a convoluted system because even people in the departments in-charge of giving the titles can be bribed and multiple titles can be given for one land, that's why many owners are in a pickle. It's a convoluted world, so very sorry to report.
That said the best properties to purchase are the those which were foreclosed by the banks because for certain, they have original titles and those are clean.

@@miasantiago4583 oh yes don't get me started on the levels of corruption and unfortunately the corruption starts at the very top and then trickles down through the layers over populated government down to the cop patrolling the streets.....
Why a country with such a small land mass has so many levels of government I will never be able to work out.

Young Australians showing the Filipinos that you don't have to live in the city as squatters in sub-human conditions. You just have to believe that by growing some plants on a small area of land might be the pathway towards self-sufficiency. As a Filipino living in Australia, I think the person creates his or her situation and more broadly, their country. The Philippines as the case with other countries, is a creation of its people. As a whole, a country is a creation of everyone in that country.

    • @jackwalker3582

The problem is, there are more Filipinos with no money to purchase land and seedlings and very little help from the government. They struggle to feed large families each day. The politicians are the only successful ones because many of them are corrupt. The new president is trying to change the culture but he faces much opposition from the established elite. They have no birth control and most are Catholic and have large families to feed, clothe and school. I wish it was as simple as obtaining land and producing enough to get out of poverty, but it is more complicated than that. They need more industry, more farming, more energy production and more incentive to have smaller number of children. Four children instead of 12 to 14 children per household.

    I married filipina in Canada.
After We bought property in philipines
My Filipino wifes name was on title. She put 80% money
My name was also put on title also as foreigner husband. ( because foreigner husband name can also be on title). I put 20% money
We got married in canada and we divorced in canada too.
Later filipino lawyer in philipines told me and my wife that the property was 50 % and 50% each in case we split. Like in america. But i was nice to her and took my 20% only and signed my 50% to her (by filipino) law)
SO DONT LISTEN TO ANYBODY ABOUT PROPERTY IN FLIPS...JUST ME:
FOREIGNERS CAN NOT OWN LAND BY THEMSELVES.
FOREGNERS CAN OWN PROPERTY ONLY WHILE MARRIED TO FILIPINA AND AS LONG AS SHE IS ALIVE.
    IF PINAY WIFE DIES FIRST.
...FOREIGNER BY LAW IS ALLOWED TO SELL PROPERTY AND KEEP 100% of THE MONEY. ( BECAUSE HE CANT OWN IT BY HIMSELF anymore BUT HE IS GIVEN TIME TO SALE it.
...OR LAND CAN BE PUT ON FILIPINO CHILDREN NAMES if THEY PROCREATED.
Every body else talking about foreigner and land in flips got no f...idea

Cristian Colome yep. Estate laws protect foreign ownership in cases of predeceasing a Filipino partner. You’d be entitled to your share in some convoluted percentages usually not more than 50% of the whole property, especially if she has children, or his/her property was not liquidated from an earlier invalidated marriage. It would depend.

Gmelina is exotic to the Philippines and has little value for biodiversity in the especially to birds due to its fruit repelling properties..however, its timber has high economic value. I highly recommend planting more tropical fruit trees such as spanish plum, java plum, guava, star apple and anonas.

I don’t know if the couple has dual citizenship to the Phil. But what I know is you need to be in a corporation, married to a filipino or you have a filipino partner where your name and his/her name are both in the paperwork of the land. I’m not being rude but consider this as an advice because the government can embargo your land from you. The locals who sold the land might not know about this law. So be mindful and keep your paperwork.
